Dan was incredibly talented, but none of the comments mentioning the band? That's Vinnie Vincent on guitar and G.E. Smith on bass, hamming it up big time!

He is a perfect example of the terrible loss of many of the most creative, intelligent, kind, wonderful people to AIDS. An entire generation lost in just a few years, leaving our world a sadder, less joyful place. His music still brings me joy over 40 years later. How many of us will still be remembered for decades?

Oh man, this song took me back to the great late 70s, just graduated from HS in 1977, became a DJ for a year before going to med school in Brazil. Dan Hartman was a super musician. No doubt the late mid to late 70s and the 80s, were, in my opinion, the golden era for music regardless of genre, from disco, rock, R&B, rap to jazz and latin music. There were so many great bands with awesome songs, unique sounds and styles of playing instruments that it was hard for a single to stay in the top as everybody sound so good, even album covers were so cool and fun, this is no longer present in today’s music. These guys were truly musicians, composers, arrangers, and much more. I wish I could have a Time Machine…🙂😜

You set my lips on fire
You won the key to my heart
You've got a special way to move me
Can't stop now - let's do it again!
You keep me dancin' through the moonlight
I feel the pleasure in your touch
And everything you are is heaven
Oh, I can't get enough, no I can't get enough!
    I've got to have it!

And when I look into your eyes
    It's magic!
Well, I just know this can't be a dream
I'm so happy it must be real
In every way it's getting stronger
Now you know it, let me show it
Oh, I've got to have it now
    (Instant replay)
    Oh-oh-oh-oh yeah

Dan Hartman was a great musician. He was headed to the top of the heap before fate took his life at a young age. Dan was a few years younger than me, and he and I went to the same John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA. He and I went to the same church too. During the 1960s Dan and his brother and a few other local kids formed the band "The Legends" That was a great local band, and the band "just missed" stardom in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s, Dan left the Legends to seek a solo career. In 1972 he joined The Edgar Winter Group, and he wrote and sang many songs for the band. Dan's best song there was "Free Ride" This "Instant Replay" song only charted as high as #29 on the USA Billboard Chart, but it should have done better. It's a great song to sing to while driving down the highways.

Dan was a musical genius, truly a golden talent to give us his gifts in music.
I could give a rats ass who is gay or not, that so doesnt even matter. The point is he didnt waste his talents and lived his life how he felt was best. I hope that no man will ever critisize or judge him for that no matter what they think wrong or right for people to do. Who made judging men or haters God? Oh thats right they are humans too. Homosexuals have been around since the dawn of creation and will be there no matter what laws are passed or not. I personally choose women and am not gay, but thats my choice, and Im very happy 23 years married and its wonderful. Racism has many forms, hating gay people is as silly as hating grape flavor when you prefer another choice. To each his own, remember? I sure do, people say it all the time. Some of the jackasses dont really mean it, and I dare anyone else to force "Thats how we founded this country" Bullshit. we founded it on freedom. Dont give people freedom and they will kill you for it sooner or later, But giving people freedom or them taking it means they are free to do what they want. Wake up and educate yourself to the reality we all live in and with. Dont lie to yourself and hid behind religion or opinion of racist origin based on what you were taught. Free your mind and accept the facts as they are face value. No one should force anyone to do something, being gay includes that as a part of the many listed things too vast to pen.

Agreed no debate there. God will judge both the quick and the dead, gay or musically talented. While I dont want to see public necking from both types I see some things the world does not offer just as equal as the things it does. Gods plan isnt about how Christians can form hate groups and think they now live sin free lives daily. That is the largest fucking lie I personally have both seen and heard. Money corrupts these people the same way it does criminals, and the worst part is if seen hating one type of group or another they think is sinning they lead other new faithful people into their dens. Not all Christians are bad people, some are true hearts I know some personally who are saints in my life. I get so angered by uneducated comments and the stupider the comment the more likely these poor saps will suck onto a group in a church filled with a segregated chapel. The childrens pastor at my former church was married to her high school flame, and got pregnant by a man who had recently lost his wife in an auto crash, I know both the husband the wife and the man. Yes its wrong, yes thats ugly, but look at them, they are people. Were all people, Christians will continue sinning and maybe even die in the act. Perhaps we all had better re-evaluate who Jesus is, what God wants from man and how we can live a better faith filled life with a little more joy in it, along with all the mistakes we are all going to make. Book of Job tells us very clearly what God wants in His servants, Jesus concretes that agenda with the need to seal the relationship on Gods terms and teaches clearly to love one another., That love one another was not just for the 12 disciples first following Jesus. He meant any devoted person who askes His forgiveness and accepts Him as savior and Lord. Still not perfect, and Jesus did say go and sin no more, which is perhaps possible for alien visiting our planet, but for man we were born in sin, are cleaned of its effects for salvation but that does not mean we are all granted a pass, some choose to renounce Gos altogether. There is the real problem Christians face is internal clicks in churches that think they are sinless perfect do goods, and the fact that few of these same people actually share the gospel at all to a total stranger they happily meet on the bus stop corner or in a car crash or whatever. Major structural issues, and dont get me started on the Catholics, I dont judge their souls, I do discern their practices. And some Catholic people I know, are rare individuals, one is my wifes brother. He is a doctor, and hes one of the kindest selfless faith filled people I have met, so much so that he embraces my faith practices and prays along with us over meals and family gatherings. He is Gods servant so not all Catholics Id guess are heading to Hades. The Vatican is a stronghold beast f a fortress, own police, own laws ETC. Its ugly but they know what they are securing inside the chamber of the thier cathedral in Rome.Multi billions of dollars worth of income to manipulate the worlds leaders as well as the UN. Look a little closer into the Catholic Church, study their involvements with public agendas and leaders involved all around the world. You would be shocked to learn some things. But its been that way with them since their inception. Rome didnt stand a chance after they were a major seat in power, and money buys all the power.
Cheers my friend. Godbless you and keep you!
