Died at age 43. That's way too young, regardless of the cause. "Dream about you." , is timeless and remains one of the best songs ever produced. R.I.P Dan.
Yes 1984 was a good year for music.
@@muffs55mercury61that song was featured in “streets of fire” starring Diane Lane, Willam Defoe and Michael pare’
"I can dream about you, if i can't hold you tonight",
I didn't know he died. No words.
@@tjhmmm7286 Dan Hertman. (1950-1994). Died of an AIDS - related fungal brain tumor.
"I can dream about you" everytime I hear this im reminded of a beautiful sun shiny spring day when I was in high school. Only a masterpiece does things like that
There was an incredible version that was done by the USMC chorus/choir as the background for a mid-1980s national beauty pageant. I wish that someone had recorded a clean version of it outside the pageant itself.
I first remembered him in his disco hit Instant Replay, and lately I Can Dream About You from the movie Streets of Fire. A great talented musician, yet gone too soon. RIP, Dan Hartman.
His energy in Instant Replay is amazing! Thanks for watching 😁
I never knew he was gay. But no matter. I can dream about you. Which he wrote and offered to Hall and Oates. Was amazing. As much as I love Hall and Oates. He did it justice. I think. Even better than they would have. Rip Dan. ❤
I didn't know much about him either as to why I thought I'd do some research and make a video on him. I always enjoyed his music but was surprised at how talented and gifted he was. Definitely was a child prodigy. Thanks so much for watching!
Sadly he died from complications of AIDS in the closet .
Rip Dan Hartman ❤🙏🏼🕊️
He was an amazing artist! Loved his music, in band and solo!
I LOVE THE SONG I CAN DREAM ABOUT YOU 😢😢😢 SORRY THAT HE PASSED AWAY
I was born in the late 80's and discovered Dan Hartman decades later. It's a shame because I only got to appreciate him and his music now in my 30's. Thank you for the lovely video ❤ RIP Dan Hartman
Thank you for your lovely comment and for watching 🥰
Still blows me away that he was the lead vocals and guitarist on Edgar Winters Free Ride, and he played bass on Rock ane Roll Hoochie Koo.
He died of aids. I'm facing my own mortality right now. I've got kidney problems and congestive heart failure. I'm scared. But his music makes me feel better. Rest in peace, Dan Hartman
Thank you for watching and please take care 🙏
I pray that God will give you strength, and heal you
Yes I'm on dialysis and I pray that you accept CHRIST JESUS as LORD AND SAVIOR. GOD BLESS YOU IN CHRIST JESUS NAME AMEN!
@@MadMax-zn9oh God bless 🙏
We actually lost Dan to a brain tumor and yes at the time he was HIV positive. I'm sorry to hear of your health concerns and I wish you the best.
The Edgar Winter Group had some talented dudes in it. "They Only Come Out At Night" was my first album.
This was a respectful and nicely done tribute.
Thank you so very much! 😁
Love You Dan Hartman!!! 🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
Over 40 years later vertigos relight my fire and love sensation are still one of the greatest songs of all time. Gone too soon Dan Hartman & loleatta halloway
Incredibly talented man. "I Can Dream About You" is one of my favorite songs from the '80s. I grew up during the 80s and I vividly remember this song being on the radio all the time, and "Streets of Fire" was on HBO frequently. It's sad that he passed away so young.
A Central Pa. icon. I was at the last Concert for the Legends. Just when they were going to break out , he joined Edger & Johnny Winter's groups. Followed his career he was good friends Of Hall & Oates. Too short of a Lifespan.
The legendary Edgar Winter song "Free Ride" which Hartman did the vocals is still one of my all time favorite songs 50+ years later. 'Instant Replay" was a good dance number. And then he finally notched his big hit in 1984 "I Can Dream About You". Lost too soon.
I saw the Edgar Winter Group play in a high school gym. He played bass but also did a guitar solo partly played with his teeth as a pick. The most high energy rock concert I have ever seen. When he went into disco I was confused but happy he was making money.
West Islip. I was there.
Name of the game is a classic underground dance track that I would hear in all the NYC clubs in the late 80s
You'll always be in my heart Uncle Dan!!!! We will keep your fire burning!!!!
Did he groom you??
@@cesaralexis73 excuse me.... Elaborate please!!!
@@amysullivan6811. He was your uncle ? Wow, that’s cool. I knew of Dan and quite a bit of his music but I learned something from this video. I had no clue he was with Edgar Winter
March 26/ 1994
R.I.P
GONE TO SOON
When I can dream about was playing, I was staying in Zimbabwe with family and that song brings back so many good memories.
Thank you Dan Hartman.
I can dream about you reminds me of my days as a tot, searched this song today, great feeling
Vertigos relight my fire was the first record I ever bought. I still play it and his many other hits to this day.
He was an amazing musician 😢
His musical contributions survive. Rest In Peace 🕊️
My first introduction to Dan Hartman was the song "Free Ride". Such a huge talent!
My ring tone!
❤❤❤
I saw the Shock Treatment tour.
The poor guy died of an AIDS-caused fungal-related brain tumor in 1994 at age 43. RIP Dan.
That's about one of the worst ways to go from aids too, thank god it rarely happens now
@@modgodel I had never heard of it specifically. Just curious. Why it one of the worst ways to go from AIDS
What a legend, you think about coming from a tiny town being gay and some akward white guy and achieving what he did. Amazing. The legacy still lives on. 👍🏼
Love YOU DAN HARTMAN YOU WER A LEGEND 😢
Hey William dont be scared im not. Everything will be fine. I just feel it will be. Ok. Dont know why but exception is just a big part of everything else. Gnight an please be strong❤
It was a decade growing up that gays weren't respected at all with threats and many died of aids from Rock Hudson and like Jermaine Stewart died of aids but his memories still live on thru this 1984 movie I've seen Streets Of Fire.
they died of aids because of their sexual perversion not because they werent respected. at least they kept their lives private in those days. nowadays there's no shame.
Poor guy. What a TRAGEDY.
I wish there was footage of that bass suit.
So many young men lied to that same s activity has no consequences...still happening today. What a loss of talent and joy
It’s not about race… it’s about your talent they will take it! I’m thinking 🤔 scotch stitch 😉 as the Get out of Blue eyed soul🙈
OMG 😢 I NEVER KNEW THAT HE DIED WITH AID'S MAY HE RIP 😢🙏🙏🙏
Sadly, he died young. But everyone like him is heterosexual, which is true. He chose a lifestyle that cost him his life. My favorite songs from him are Instant Replay, and I Can Dream About You. RIP Dan.
If he was reading this up above he would be vomiting all over you with your putrid so-called tribute to him . He would hate your fat guts Luvvy .
I don't think you "chose" that lifestyle.
Too much peter pot pie.
So sad he left us his fans wanting more of his music 🙏🎼
As músicas dele é São sensacionais
I watched 'Streets Of Fire' with my girl before headn' off to basic training in May of '85...it was a time capsule that I will NEVER forget.🤙🪄✨😎
