    Very nice video. Nothing worse than warped, heavy/thick, T&G. Another tip to add to your arsenal would be a wedge.. Screw down a 2x on an angle; cut a piece of T&G on the same angle, keeping the groove side to slide along the tongue of the board you're trying to tighten up.. Works well on removing any gaps. Keep up the great work.
    I am a little jealous - at 70 yrs I can no longer bend my knees and hips as you do. Don't get me wrong. I'm still pretty agile but I remember those days even at 50 yrs diving for outfield balls. If I would give you 1 piece of advice - Ask any man that you see wearing knee pads when they started wearing them; before or after their knees started to hurt.. I can tell you their answer! 😉

      That wedge is a pretty good idea, I like that!
      I have my lower 3 vertebrae in my spine are fused, and my spine is fused to my pelvis. I can't bend over like a normal person, so I don't use knee pads much when working on a floor or below floor level because I just can't bend down into it and the knee pads lift me further away! I would like to use them more when I can. I got some "Pro Knees" now, they are expensive but awesome comfort.

    Thanks for this, Max. Great to see your vision coming together. I’ll likely never do what you’re doing, but it was cool to see how you’re overcoming and adapting to something you’re not familiar with. Good on ya. Anxious too see what’s next!

    Dang Max, you've made great progress in your house. That's definitely a different floor/ceiling that most people do. It is in your indomitable style though and great tips. I know you'll love your house for many years to come. Keep on it Mountain Man!

    Great methodologies! Your place will be amazing, and please take your time and do your best to enjoy the journey! Walk away when things get tough! Only work when you can enjoy and be productive. Rework, time and materials can put negatives on a beautiful place.

    My entire homes subfloor is this and goes under the exterior walls base plates unfortunately making it tricky to replace those boards if they need to be. Looks gorgeous in your home and will last a very very long time.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How's the floor holding up? Have you been able to tell if it's noisy with people above? Anything you would change?

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, it's dead silent. We are still under construction, but have been working upstairs for almost two months. We hope to be "done" by the end of the year. It's really just me and my wife building the house. I work there Friday through Sunday every week, and she works every Saturday and Sunday. We are doing "regular" tongue and groove ceilings on the entire house, and it is VERY angular, so the ceilings are complex, tedious, and time consuming.

    I’m starting my project this weekend. 29x13.5’ covered screened porch with pressure treated 2x6 t&g floor.
    Question: why did you decide on nails vs small head deck screws into the tongues? You used them intermittently but why not every one instead of ringed nails.?

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the board laid naturally flat and didn't fight I used ringshank nails for ease and speed.
      If the board had a twist and was fighting, I screwed it down.
