Drew, great job amigo! I've been enjoying your videos and adventures for several months. I'm finally getting around to leaving a comment. You keep me motivated while I'm glued to my desk, grinding but also dreaming about my new fishing adventure. Keep it up!!
Thanks Dude! The trips are super fun but I also wish I didn't live so far away that I had to leave for weeks and months at a time! Gotta find a way to get closer...life goals tho!
I realized at about 20:03 of this video that he has to travel a lot and for many hours at tines to catch just a couple fish. I should have known better. Makes me appreciate hips vidios even more. Thank you.
Classic Drew video. Without any fuss, pulling multiple stunning fish out, any one of which would be another fly fisher's dream fish. Thanks for sharing Drew, safe travels.
Drew, I have been scoping out your videos for the past year or so. Thank you for putting these together and posting them, they are a treasure to watch. My buddy and I just retired 6 weeks ago, and have coincidentally planned a 21 day truck camping trip to western Wyoming. That is what brought me to your videos. I had done about 90% of the planning, when I came across your video guide on how you plan your trips. Just about identical to how I had planned ours!!! It is amazing how between the Troutroutes app, Delorme and Google Earth, you can really zoom into what to fish. I had several streams highlighted to hit, that when I looked at them on Google Earth, found out a few of them were 2 feet wide. We will hit a variety of drainages and also the big name rivers in the western part of the state. We will steer clear of the crowds in Yellowstone and Jackson for sure. We'll do a hotel night or two in Kemmerer, Pinedale and Thermopolis but all else will be camping. I was surprised how many of the stream look to be around 8000' elevation. We have already delayed the trip 3 weeks due to the large runoff this year. I appreciate the time you had to have put in to produce all of these videos, that we enjoy watching. BTW, are you sponsored by Orvis ? You look to be a big fan of their gear!!!! LOL! I still don't know how the hell you sold your wife on a 9 week fishing trip???? You must have been an excellent salesman at some point in your life . . . I can only assume you two are going on a couple of round the world cruises next year for payback. Thank you again.
Oh, it looks like he did indeed clean out his truck. AND, the reference to the “stuff in the box I won’t show you cuz some people freak out…” is probably a pistol. Smart Drew, you never know! The only difference is I always carried mine on me since I found 2 guys going thru my camper upon my return from fishing one day. Again, you never know.
That's one incredible wife you've got. Even living in Utah, my ex would freak out if I was gone longer than 8 hours. If it's paying bills, though, much power to you and your family. Love your stuff.
So jealous! You produce excellent videos in awesome locations! I used to live in Saint Maries, Idaho back in the late 50s and early 60s and had many awesome fly fishing adventures. So many great memories! Sadly, my flyfishing days are over but can’t take those memories! Thank you Dad!
Again Drew, I can tell by the cutthroat subspecies the general area in Wyoming where you're fishing. I appreciate the more 'open' landscape as compared to the dense forests of your Idaho locations (more like the Pacific NW). But catching cutthroats anywhere is great fun!
God it sucks I barely got any places to fly fish right now. Everything is under ice. Been having some buddies take me out ice fishing though. But I long for the days where I hike to the middle of nowhere and enjoy the weather, the scenery, and the fishing.
@@LooknFishy I sure would be interested and I think others would also. I believe I have the same setup as you from what I could pick up from you last year. Would like to know your thoughts on it sometime. Others on YT are doing the same thing in these related subjects.
Great fishing and exploring new areas... great attitude despite some (people) setting up camp next to you. Thanks for putting the dates in the comments to show how fishing was during certain times of the year.
This is absolutely amazing Drew! I live in Wyoming and now I have to ask my wife for 3 weeks off from the kids so I can go do this myself 🤣🤣🤣🤠✌Wish me luck!🤞
Jealousy gets me no where except eager to venture out and go to Colorado and Wyoming. Wonderful videos and sharing of your adventures. What’s next…a book?
So glad to find your fishing trips. I am jealous. You have piqued my interest in fly fishing once again. I used to do it regularly but its been a while. This summer I am heading to the Bighorns of Wyoming. Thanks for your great pictures.
Great video! Hopefully God willing in about 3 years when I retire I’ll get to do the same trips! I took flyfishing as a joke till the first trip and it’s been all I think of for the last few years. I was always a inshore and offshore fisherman down here in Dixie - I’m ready to see some mountain streams and miles of wilderness
Oh boy, whoowa! That is a heck view and good trek you got there. My kind of solitude and fly fishing style... Your on to it and in to it Drew, well done!
Great montage Drew, I really appreciate the time & effort you put into sharing these adventures! I am combing through my maps planning on chasing blue lines and calling local game officials to pre-scout. Thanks!
“Things we won’t talk about cause people lose their minds when you do” 😂😂😂 I love your channel man. You are no nonsense yet entertaining. Really I don’t watch many fishing channels as I never find them that entertaining. But yours is great as it includes more than fishing. You tend to travel, explore fish and camp like I do. Even have fished some of the same water in NM & CO. I just wish I could spend the amount of time you do out there. But for now I’ll take my 1-3 weeks a year over nothing. BTW, can you tell me about your drop mount for fuel and water? And how do you like it? Any complaints?
Thanks man, definitely appreciated! The holder is a diy, trailer basket carrier...for coolers etc. I just didn't add the basket and attached 2 jerry can holders. No complaints at all and got 28k miles on the system now.
Love your stuff.....I was lucky to be able to enjoy good fishing out west as a kid....hoping to get back to it some day. My father was from Montana. He was always petrified of bumping into snakes....The country you clamber mourned in on a regular basis looks like it would harbor a rattler or two....Just wondering if you ever encounter any snakes? And poison ivy.....seemed like it was all over the streams dad and I used to visit. Yet I never notice any in your posts. Oh, and I really liked that you cooked up a plate of brookies, I'll bet they were really yummy.
Been watching your vids for awhile now. Must be nice to be independently wealthy (assumed) and have a wife that lets you go off and play in the rivers and creeks for 9 weeks. You da man!
Hear that often but it's actually the exact opposite. Had a video on here once with my life story but decided I wasn't all that comfortable with it being out there. My channel description has more info but the short story is I grew up poor, living in the ghetto. Almost didn't graduate high school. Enlisted in the Navy, used my GI Bill to obtain my accounting degree in 2005 and then my wife and I decided we didn't like how we were living. In 2007, we moved back to our home state and changed how we live. We chase the experience rather than the possession. It's taken years to get to this point but I wouldn't change a thing!
@@LooknFishy Hey Drew, appreciate the reply. Sounds like you and your wife did a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace course at some point. My wife and I have taught a dozen of those classes over the years. Rad cutties Dude!!! That's driving distance for my brother & I. Mighty tempting. Do you ever follow a hatch? I mean... we grew up fishing a trout stream in the Sierra foothills that hatch, no hatch, it didn't matter. You were filling a stringer. Just curious though.
I am curious, It seems most of the streams you fish are populated with cutthroat and browns....and even saw you keep a nice mess of brookies for supper. I was just wondering about other fish species: any rainbows, mountain whitefish, bull trout, dolly varden, or grayling? Do you specifically target cutthroat?

Hey Drew when you come up on a spot that is blown out or stained from rain do you just completely skip it or try anything at all? Do you ever try any spinning tackle for something like that or just move on to a spot that isn't blown out? Thanks Chadd
Hey my friend... My son and I are planning a trip like yours in late August 2023. Driving from Maine to Wyoming... can you share any stream location strategies?? Thank you so much!!!!
Hi Drew, what canopy do you like to use for camping? Thanks mate, love the content. I think I will get a 10 or 11 ft rod after watching your dropper/nymph game, makes mending so much easier!
Hey that’s my camp 😂! Awesome sunrise huh? Gotta love those big Bonnie’s on the Wherezat 😅! Had a dead battery there years back, so my marine son humped it over the ridge to flag down a BLM worker to give us a jump. I shoulda paid them both $100 for the help.
Awesome trip! Does plan B ever possibly include fishing a lake? Granted Wy/MT/ID is a stream fishing destination but at least you don’t have to worry about it “blowing out”
It does. I've hiked into several before I started my youtube channel and will get back to those one day. I just like the changing views a stream offers.
Hi Drew following you. I’ve spent a lot of time out west fly fishing. This year i have off the month of September. Heading out there taking my Aliner just looking for prep info not fishing sites. I’m good on that. Just food, water, fuel and daily needs info

I did a 60 day fishing trip to Montana last summer (2022). I used to live there for 9 years. No doubt!
I love the stuff you said drive everybody else crazy!
Yea, even been shadow banned a couple times just b/c it showed up in a video while I was fishing. Just social media these days.

Hey Drew great video.Any plans for a new fly rod for 2023?

Your GoPro hat setup looks awesome. Doesn’t look like you use a hat clip. How do you keep it on your hat?
I use an insert from actionhat been really happy with it. It's a mount that works on any hat you want to put a couple holes thru to attach the gopro.
Can you lock the truck top from the inside or do leave it open and pull it closed?
The topper locks from outside so I use the strap to lock me in at night. The tailgate locks with the kiosk.
What’s your favorite state to fish between Idaho, Montana and Wyoming
do you mind if i ask how you find all the spots you go to?
What water filtration bottle do you use?

Do you carry a pistol or other firearm for self protection ??
Was that truck a ford ranger?
Oh, btw...the Thermacell is the best mosquito repellent device ever created...even kept the Alaska bugs off me and NO DEET nastiness!
I've heard that before but not by anyone out west...will definitely give it a look!
Gotta do the mod for high altitude or they won't be effective. We learned the hard way at 10K in Wyoming, lol.
You can google the mod.
Do you bring any weapons with you, for safety, and by the, I well be so happy to get a friend like you brother
Haha hinted at that in the video but I do for sure!

gorgeous cutthroat at the 12 minute mark

Do you support any conservation organizations?
I donate to TU. I purchase annual out of state licenses for each state I visit to support their fisheries and I buy local!
