Okay, I apologize for coming as rude (though that was not my intention) But yet you missed my point. You quote 'There is not one Muslim majority country which is not secular'. And that's factually wrong. Turkey declares itself a secular nation.
Of course, how much true secularism is practiced might be a question (even India is not truly and fully secular now) but the fact they consider themselves secular itself is something laudable (look at the other muslim majority countries) And it's indeed a country you can visit as a tourist with fair ease. They are indeed above their peers.
Great thing about the debate is that they started the debate with meaning of secularism, Asad himself said the definition of secularism, that state should not have religion and it is above religion. But the debate continued to question what are steps taken by the govt to develop muslim religion. Being a secular State, state should not think about the particular religion. State is meant for all irrespective of religion, caste, sex, race, etc. Being secular don't be religious.
