*Death to the Thalmor!!!!!!!!!* When we're done liberating Skyrim, we will take our army to the dominion, and show those pointyeared bastards, *not every man, is fit to be their slave!!!*
I suspect that the population of Alinor was reduced during the Thalmor's rise to power, as they emigrated to Hammerfell. That's based on what Fasendil had described.
johannes thies Not exactly. It was only one regiment of the Thalmors troops that lost to the Redguards deep in Hammerfell territory. The Thalmor didnt send more to conquer because 1. They were already weak after practically winning the great war. And 2. it would leave them far to vunlnerable to an imperial strike if they overextended and commited any more resources to Hammerfell. Backing off and regrouping forces and resources was the smart move. Note- I am not in favor of the Thalmor, but the empire 100% had this coming after their forced murder and slaughter under tiber septims bloodlust of an already peaceful tamriel. He conquerred and killed other nations who had NOT provoked Cyrodill and during a time of peace no less when these countries were simply busy focusing on trade or self rule of their lands. Cyrodill pulled a germany blitzkrieg. The thalmor before this were not the fanatics we encountered in skyrim, the fanatics were a sub section of racists who gained power BECAUSE of what Cyrodill did to them in a time of peace. Before then these fanatics were already condemned by the nation of Alinor as such. Cyrodill has no one but themselves to blame for the inevitable reaction of the High Elves of Alinor and their subsequent rage
I would think the high elves longer lifespan would make it harder for the Thalmor to propadandize them. If you've lived a couple of hundred years you could have seen a lot and be a bit less likely to be fooled, and you would have established opinions strongly confirmed for you and be a bit less likely to radically change them because of some propaganda.
But then you must think about the younger Altmer whom may be subject to this propaganda, which would influence their opinions / ethics for years and years to come. I think they were thinking about the long term effects.
It is not clear from the writing if the Dominion army was slaughtered to the last or the remainder were captured en masse. The latter is what normally happens in war, but the wording implies particular violence. I think the fate of the remaining Dominion soldiers of the red ring is of particular interest. I believe that Rorinkstead's inhabitants, including the altmer farmer, came to know each other during the great war. Note that other than Ulfric, everyone who participated in it regrets their actions, regardless of on which side they fought. Whatever the case, dea or alive I suspect none returned home.
I think it went like WWII with Nazi Soldiers and Commanding Officers. The Soldiers are captured en masse while the higher ups are captured and put on trial for their crimes which probably results in their execution.
Except the criminals on the Allied and Soviet sides got away with their crimes. As I suspect Imperials got away with crimes during and after the battle.
The fact that there must be tens of thousands of High Elves who were alive during the Septim Dynasty makes me question the efficacy of the type of propaganda you're suggesting. I would imagine that Summerset, being one of the oldest civilizations, still has a lot of ancient institutions left. I would imagine that this still leaves place for factions within Summerset, but the Thalmor are just the ones who managed to consolidate power. If you look at Skyrim, both sides are spreading their own interpretation of things like the Ulfric-Torygg duel; yet, they're both willing to stop fighting because they respect the greybeards. We know that their propaganda works to some extent, though. They took credit for the moons returning, and their alleged role in fighting the Oblivion Crisis. So they might be able to propagandize any events that occur or allegedly occurred under their reign, but I don't think they would have much success with revisionism. I think they would have to go with the attitude that the current Empire's Dynasty are illegitimate warlords. Then again, when you talk to a Justiciar as a Nord, he'll make it pretty clear how strong the anti-man sentiment is within the Dominion: "Filthy Nord. In time, your entire race will be eradicated." This might just be a carry-over of pre-Thalmor feelings of superiority, though. They might not have needed much anti-Empire propaganda, because they could just take the momentum from this traditional supremacism and start to apply it politically. For all we know, the Thalmor weren't too concerned with race, and only used it as a political tool because there was already support for it within Summerset Isles.
Hey Zork, during the holidays I have been playing oblivion and there I stumbled on a quest that made me ask a big question. The quest involved following a dairy from an akaviri warrior who had to go to the pill pass. The thing is, according to the akaviri it would have taken him about a day to travel from point A to B were as it took me only 2 minutes at walking speed witch is 1 hour in game time. This let me wonder, How big is tamriel actually in lore? So here is my question, would you be so kind to make a video about this? (If it's interest you off course)
"Superiority propaganda". High Elves have always thought other races to be inferior so the Thalmor don't really need to do much propaganda at all in that department. The only propaganda the Thalmor would spread is the idea of actually invading other countries and restoring the Aldmeri Dominion. This is contrary to thousands of years of the High Elf tradition of mostly keeping to themselves. The only exceptions to this tradition were the early High Elf Explorers of Tamriel, the exodus of the religious dissidents and the First, Second and now Third Aldmeri Dominion. The entire Altmeri force was destroyed in the Battle of the Red Ring. This was only because of an incredible strategic victory by the Empire as they completely surrounded them. Otherwise they probably would have won, not through numbers (The Altmeri Army was much smaller than the Imperial, they won through tactics, information gathered by spies and superior magic and talent). The Altmer were driven out of Hammerfell because they did not expect an influx of new Redguard soldiers after the Emperor sent all his Redguard Legions back home. They only sent a small force that they thought would be suitable to take over Hammerfall (It was initially). There isn't much known about wether this impacted public opinion of the Thalmor or not. The only main political threat the Thalmor face is the Psijic Order. If you played the College of Winterhold questline in Skyrim you would know that they directly interfered with the Thalmor's plan to use the Eye of Magnus to unmake the world. Anything else is complete speculation as there isn't any evidence that there are any political enemies the Thalmor face back in Alinor. In the Aldmeri Dominion itself Valenwood hates the Thalmor which is why there are purges there. We know this because Malborn is survivor of these. The Khajiit client states love the Thalmor because they believe they brought back the Moons after they disappeared for a while. If there is a second Great War they would probably win. Personally I would think they would try to invade Hammerfell again with a much larger force instead of invading Cyrodiil.
I see more correlation between imperials and nazis especially with how bloodlust racist tiber is and was a megolomaniac. He created the hatred for imperials by being war mongerers. You reap what you sow. Blood and war and death
I am not in favor of the Thalmor, but the empire 100% had this coming after their forced murder and slaughter under tiber septims bloodlust of an already peaceful tamriel. He conquerred and killed other nations who had NOT provoked Cyrodill and during a time of peace no less when these countries were simply busy focusing on trade or self rule of their lands. Cyrodill pulled a germany blitzkrieg after they gained the Numidium from their deal with the Tribunal who only didnt utterly destroy tiber weak boi because they were actually dealing with a real threat from Dagoth Ur.
Where it stands right now, no. Considering their position in the world. Their economic power rivals that of the empire, their army is only rivaled by the empire, their navy is only rivaled by the empire but their navy prove superior in the Great War. They have agents working all across the empire so their influence is great. Unlike the empire they don’t have much instability right now, Cyrodiil has instability where the elder council is at odds with the emperor. Right now the main enemy of them is the empire and they have the upper hand right now in terms of situation. Unless another invasion from oblivion happens or the akaviri invade the dominion, they’ll stand on top

Didnt I already do that? I believe I did a video on tamriels size and population... Or I cut the size part out... Not sure...
I just looked it up and you barley glanced over the topic of the size of the continent but that video is all about the population
@@casthelion416 ah right sorry. I will look up my old script to see why I cut it out, I remember going into it pretty deep
