    My problem is, I’m 9 weeks post op, but I had to have 5 surgeries in 9 months. 4 were emergency. I had a Crohn’s related bowel perforation, ignored it for 24 hrs because our hospital’s ER is pretty terrible, and I went into septic shock. I have a lot of scar tissue in my muscles. My last surgery removed most of it, but I can still feel some spots that have pulling. I have a scar from the base of my sternum to below my panty line, and several small scars from drains and other stuff. However I healed much faster than expected. I wasn’t supposed to walk without assistance again. I was doing that short distance, a week out of the coma. Doctors have cleared me to do what I feel I can try. The problem is, I was highly athletic. Off trail steep hiking. 10+ mile bike rides. Advanced yoga. Archery. Belly dancing. My problem that I’ve found this past week is that I don’t know what ‘beginner’ means, but I’m definitely gonna try these. I pulled my ab muscles last week, getting groceries out of the car, and I hate this.

    • @gosimpli
      @gosimpli  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my goodness! I am sorry to hear of how much you have had to suffer through! This will get better with time. Knowing where to start when you were at such a high level of athleticism is a challenge. My advice would be to start with exercises that you feel would be WAY too easy. If you can do those without pain then keep adding on. It will be a slow climb toward your new normal, but you will get there!

    Hi Lar. I've been looking for exercises of this calibre for quite a while now. So glad to have found you. I had a full hysterectomy with a long c section scar 8 months ago. What advice would you give for this series of c section exercises along with cardio exercise? It would be great to know a work out that I can do daily which is easy on my tummy and still allows me to keep fit. Thank you in advance.

    • @gosimpli
      @gosimpli  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now that you are several months past your c-section, if you are feeling well, you should definitely be doing some cardio with these abdominal exercises. I would honestly start with walking and as soon as that feels very comfortable I would include any low impact cardio exercises. Weight training would be the last to be added...started with seated/chair weighted exercises. I have a while playlist of seated muscle conditioning workouts that you can check out. I hope this helps! Good luck.

      That is quite a surgical procedure. I would definitely wait another 4 weeks and then check with your doctor. You do not want to cause any internal damage. In the meantime, do lots of walking and deep breathing exercises. This will help with longer term recovery, injury prevention and have you doing workouts sooner. This particular abdominal video is intended for those who are about 6 weeks post-operation. Good luck with your continued healing!! :)

    Please see a physical therapist first. Most of these exercises are way too difficult for someone recovering from abdominal surgery. Many of us have long vertical incisions and it will be many months before doing anything like weight bearing and swinging your legs around.
