    My camera won’t charge even via usb. Is the problem the battery charger or the battery?

    • @molometer
      @molometer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rhea, is the red light coming on...on the charger?
      You could do what I did and buy the Enegon batteries with a charger linked below and hope it's just a dud battery or charger. It's a cheap way to know for sure.

      I wouldn't know. I just gave it to the repair shop and they sourced the motherboard. It did take a couple of weeks for the part to arrive. Good luck with your camera. 📸👍

    The lovely redhead at the shop was like “great, I’m going to be in some old dudes TH-cam channel” haha
    Also, I like our unboxing of the battery’s. Very impressive knife action, followed by just ripping the darn thing open like a savage haha.

      @Ade Torrent Sorry to hear about your broken camera. Occupational hazard I guess?
      Just updated the firmware on the Fuji to version 5.1 and it now shoots 4K! Amazing bit of kit.

    What I notice, is that you're not just 'closing' the battery door of the camera, but you're slamming it all the time. Closing it to quickly.
    Just saying ☺️
    So, maybe you should be a little more carefull with your next camera.
    Maybe that wasn't the problem, but it's a little rough anyway. In my opinion 😆

    • @molometer
      @molometer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Hendrik, thank you for your comment however the door wasn't the problem. The motherboard was faulty and had to be replaced.
      The camera is still working perfectly and this was over 2 years ago as the follow up video shows. Enjoy 😂👍🏼 #justsaying th-cam.com/video/EkQlrL7adVs/w-d-xo.html

    I fixed this issue on my own EOS body by watching a couple of other youtube videos - what worked for me was taking out the battery, leaving sd card and lens in place, then turning on the camera and holding down the shutter release for 30 secs to discharge any residual electricity it still had in its circuit. It sort of resets the hardware by fully discharging itself, then you can put battery back in again and off you go. No cost. No 2-week wait for un-needed professional fix.

    I also own the 70D and believe you made the right decision to have it repaired. It is a fantastic camera for shooting in 1080 video and also photos. It’s got a lot of life still in it for years to come. If you are into posting on TH-cam, which most of us are doing, then it’s a darn good workhorse. I’m glade I found your channel and am looking forward to seeing more video from you. I happen to be 76% British according to my DNA test I got back last Christmas, although I was born in Boise, Idaho and call Las Vegas home. I find it fascinating to see parts of England on TH-cam and I’m sure others do as well. Thanks and am looking forward to new video with your repaired camera.

      Hiya jroar123, I've literally been shooting with my 70d today and it's still as reliable as ever. As you can see from the date on the video. The repair was 2.5 years ago and the 70d has never let me down once since then. Well worth the price of repair.
      76% British wow that's more than me. I'm 100% Irish but born and raised in the UK.
      I'm glad you enjoyed the video. There are a few videos about this workhorse of a camera. It's been up mountains and everywhere with me.
      I just did a huge tour of the North of England and Scotland.
      Scotland is magnificent and a photographer/filmmakers dream location. I got lots of drone footage as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the video as well when I get a chance to edit it all. 🎬🎥👍🏼😊

      @@jroar123 That's interesting to know. I often wonder how people find my videos? SEO notwithstanding.
      I've been making videos for my whole adult life. Yeah I was that guy with the huge camcorder lol.
      I still film in the same way really. Kind of gonzo style before I knew what gonzo was. If I had any style at all lol.
      I travelled across the USA back in 79' it was an amazing experience but I didn't have a camera with me at the time.
      I travelled on the greyhound bus from New York to L.A.
      I toying with the idea of recreating the trip. It was a bit epic and took 6 weeks coast to coast with plenty of diversions on the way. I've still got the greyhound bus map marked with the places I visited.

      Hi John, great choice for a first camera. Super versatile and built like a tank.
      Took me about a year to get my head around all the functions of this camera and I'm still learning with it.
      The way I see it at £300 for the repairs means basically I've got a brand new 70D for £300! 👍 result!
      As for your first lens choice. Get a 50mm (nifty fifty)
      Coupled with the 70D's crop sensor you've got a great camera setup.
      You can get a used 50mm lens for about 5-10 bucks in any camera store.
      Fabulous for photography of all genre's and almost perfect for talking head Vlogs and filming in general.
      Thanks for leaving your comments. I looked at your video btw 😋👍

      I just asked the shopkeeper about an hour ago and he said my motherboard is dead , like most 70Ds do, so changing that is going to cost me around 230USD....not going to fix it since I own it for 8 years , love this camera but it’s time to let it go.....

    • @molometer
      @molometer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ianisrich6550 I suppose it depends on the overall condition of the camera body etc as to whether it is viable to repair.
      8 years is not that old for a camera but if it's been quite heavily used it might not be worth it?
      It's hard to beat a dslr for the level of control over the image settings.
