i just had a huge panic because my camera would NOT turn on with a full battery of power. as a film student my life literally would come to a stop, as i would fail college without a working camera. watched like 6 ‘fix’ videos and lost hope as none worked. THIS WORKED!! thank you so much 😭
Hey Barry! You are the man! Saved my life! Your video about incorporating a pro power amp with a consumer pre amp changed everything. I'm not an audiophile and rely on on professionals like yourself to help me along. Added a peavey CS 800 pro amp to my Yamaha pre amp and could not understand why I was getting such little output from this peavey amp. I'm using this peavey to power 2 old school peavey subs with the 18 inch black widows. Wow! Ordered the art clean box from Amazon this house is rocking. Thanks to you. Man I appreciate you. Thank you Barry.
watched other tutorials, but this one makes the most logical sense, worked for my t7 (eos 1500D). First time happened around a year ago, had it fixed and they thought it was a problem in the motherboard so I paid around $70. Yesterday, it happened again. Left it for months and when i tried to use it again, it wont turn on. Thought I need to spend money again. Luckily, this video exists now, fixed it for free. Many thanks 😌🙏
Thank you so much! just yesterday i bought a 600d and after chargung the battery today it wasnt turning on. Had to do this multiple times. if anybody else is reading this and this fix didnt work, try another 2 times. this guy is a legend
I was in panic as both my EOS 6D and EOS 70D stopped working on batteries after using a 3rd party power adapter. Even Canon had no answer yet. Almost threw away both cameras, your video was my last hope. IT WORKED!
My advice is to never plug in or unplug the dummy battery power while it's attached to your camera. Power up the dummy battery, and then connect to the camera. When done, turn off the camera, and remove the dummy battery plug, and only then power off/unplug the dummy battery. I suspect some of the dummy batteries can have voltage transients when powered up/down that can be bad for cameras. Once the dummy battery is plugged in and at stable voltage, you can insert or remove the dummy battery plug into the camera without issues. I did a video on this topic.
I was having a problem with my Canon 70D, After watching a few tutorials on TH-cam without success. I ended up with your own instruction on this video. I tried it and it is now working perfectly fine. Yeah !!! You got one like AND one subscriber from me. Thanks!
Brilliant, I was beginning to think that my camera was toast but tried your advice and it worked a treat all up and running perfectly again. Thank you.
So glad I found this, I started browsing online for new battery, new charger, then looking at price of new Canon EOS bodies, then followed your steps and its back up and running again. Cheers!
cant believe it was that simple!~ worked on my mirrorless camera too. I decided to power up my old m50 that I havent touched in a while and was so sad to see no batteries were working to power it on. Not even plugging in with usb to reset or update! power cycled and drained residual and viola! thank you bro!
I have M50 i was not used long time.. and now won’t turn on :/ i have tried that guide from the video but not works for me.. i was trying to turn without SD card and maybe that is issue? I need SD card to turn on canon M50 camera?
A billion billion and 1 times Thank You!!❤😂😊😊😊😊 For over 3 years my Canon 650d was dead... I lost one of my Hobbies. And now your method reviewed my beloved DSLR. Thank You 😊 thank You thank you😊😊😊😊
I've got to tell you man, I sold my camera and was about to post it and after checking it, it would not turn on, I was about to refund the guy but came across your video , all I did was kept my finger on the button and voila it worked!!! I just felt that I had to say thanks....
This worked for me ! 5d mark3 stopped months ago i even bought aone. Today i saw this video and though why don't try this. No cost. And this worked ! Thanks
YOUUU SAVED MEEEE!! OMG IT REALLY WORKED!!! I PANICKED A WHILE AGO THEN WENT TO YT TO WATCH VIDEOS HOW TO TURN MY 1500 ON COZ I HAVE THIS COVERAGE WEEK FROM NOW. AND IT WORRRKEEDDDD 💗💗💗💗 THANKKK YOUUUUUUUU SIR!!
I'm sorry to hear that didn’t work out for you. Unfortunately, some issues do require component repair. Given the potential cost of repairs, this might be a good opportunity to consider upgrading.
Massively useful. I have a collection of canon that wouldn't turn on. It was always a microswitch issue which i solved quickly. But i bought anew T6 that does not turn on. In my hubris i assumed it would be a quick and easy fix. Nothing with the mocro switches was involved. I am looking forward to trying your ingenous method. You so systematicallysolved this. Turn on the program mode to make sure power is drained took some in depth thinking. Thanks.
Thanks, I hope that fixes it for you. Of course there's always the possibility of a hard failure and the camera needs repair. But judging by the comments here, a soft lockup seems like a common problem. Best wishes!
I'd also like to add, I found that the camera doesn't like it if you take the memory card out, rename some of the files on the card, and then try to put it back. I deleted the renamed files along with your trick and it went back to working!
My camera suddenly doesn't work and it's new and I don't use it very much, I panicked, I followed the steps and it worked very happy thank you so muchhhh
Glad to hear it worked for so many. I've got a Canon EOS M50, and sadly this did NOT work. Nor did a brand new SanDisk SD card, nor did a 'dummy-batter' (that connects directly to the wall outlet). Still sitting here with a dead camera. Oh well!
Sorry to hear that, sometimes things just fail. The camera may need to have internal parts replaced, and that may or may not be a cost effective repair. Best wishes.
U CLUTCHED MAN I WAS SO DAMN SCARED THE CAM WONT WORK AND IM COOKED BUT THE POWER BUTTON THING MADE IT WORK btw the thing we slide open to put battery/sd card that thing had a like a small grip thing it came off . so is it concerning
Sorry to hear. If it doesn't reset with these tips, I'd suggest sending something like that to Canon service. Maybe this is the excuse you need to upgrade to a c500 ;)
What if it still does not work? Earlier I tried it and it did work but after a few minutes, I decided to check it if it is still turning on but it didn't. Does that mean my camera is now completely broken? I tried doing the trick again in my camera but after a lot of times of me doing it, it won't still turn on. I don't know if I'm missing a step or what but I'm sure that I followed all the steps. Oh, Thank you for sharing your trick!
Sorry to hear that this simple reset didn't get your camera working again. Sometimes equipment needs more than just a reset, components can fail and then equipment needs repair. In this case usually the camera needs a new main circuit board and that is typically several hundred dollars of repair or you might be lucky and simply have a malfunctioning door switch or contact. If your camera needs an expensive repair, it might make the most sense to consider if this is a good time to upgrade to a new model. You can check the links in the video description for canon cameras that work well for me.
I don't have experience with that model camcorder. I would try removing the battery, then turning the unit on and leaving it in that state overnight. The next day turn off, install the battery and restart -- hope that it recovers. Best wishes.
No way this worked! I just got 50D with Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4 for 50$ because it was "defect". Literally took me 20 minutes to fix it and now I have fully functional camera 😂
The comments indicate that this has worked with many different cameras. Please try it and let us know. Of course it's entirely possible to have a hard failure, that this will not revive.
I can ask questions about my camera, what’s wrong with it? Canon 1100d It suddenly turned off, It beeped 2 times first then turned off, and then it won’t turn on… Is this because of the battery or the camera?

Bummer. Could be a real failure. I'd make sure you have a properly inserted, good SD card, and the lens is in place. Some people suggest removing the battery for a day or so, then trying again. Hope it comes back to life for you.
I'm investigating my Samsung NX11. I came across video from the *Craft Art Shack* channel (about 11 months ago) with a fix for the M50. Probably a bit late now but I 'checking for a solution to mine. Hopefully one of them might work for me.
I hope this reset procedure saves you from an expensive camera repair or replacement.
THANK YOU to those who have offered Super Thanks donations!
It did!
I screamed YES YES YES pumping my fist as it powered right on after the 30 second holding of the shutter button. Freaking amazing. Thank YOU
Glad it helped!

Hust bought a second hand one x how do i charge the pack. Xx
For most of the cameras, you remove the battery from the camera and place it in a battery charger designed for the type of battery pack you have.
It works

I tried this with M5 shooter is locked. Not working,
Could this be a major Canon mirrorless issue, because I've seen some people complaining same.
omg thank u soooo much

how about powershot a95
The comments indicate that this has worked with many different cameras. Please try it and let us know. Of course it's entirely possible to have a hard failure, that this will not revive.
I have a problem too..when I turn on camera ,there is a massage card can not be accessed ..what is the solution
I would try a new memory card. Perhaps your memory card contacts are not making a good connection in the camera.
I can ask questions about my camera, what’s wrong with it?
Canon 1100d
It suddenly turned off,
It beeped 2 times first then turned off, and then it won’t turn on… Is this because of the battery or the camera?
I'm not an expert on that model. I'd certainly try all of the checks I mentioned in the video, including installing a fresh charged battery. If that doesn't recover the camera my suspicion would be a defective switch or a problem with the internal circuitry.
If it's not a simple fix, for a camera of this age I would question if having it serviced by a camera repair expert is cost effective.
