The new Porsche 911 GTS offers an incredible blend of performance, comfort, and daily usability. With a 450-horsepower Twin-Turbo 3.0L Flat Six, now with upgraded turbos, the GTS offers the performance of the older 997 Turbo S in a more usable, composed package. It also features wider bodywork in all GTS models, not just the AWD models, both 7-speed manual and PDK gearboxes, and the center-lock wheels and brakes from the 911 Turbo model.
FULL DISCLOSURE: Porsche provided round trip transportation and accommodations in Lake Tahoe, three meals, and the vehicle + insurance to facilitate this review.

Funny thing is when you look at sports cars the trend is reversed, Europeans go for auto/paddle supercars far more often, while Americans go for the stick option more often.
Far more corvettes are sold with sticks, and it wasn't because of Americans that the R8 lost its manual option.

Probably the most daily driveable 911 ever built. The only thing with this specific car is the PCCB's are not great at all when cold. So if you are on the freeway for 30 minutes not using your brakes and then you have to do a panic stop, hold on tight! But if you are going to track it somewhat frequently they are definitely worth the added $$$. Awesome vid!

It influenced me to pick a career, and a direction for myself, that has led me to some amazing places that I never thought I could reach. For a while I had no direction or motivation to improve my life, but the minute I finished watching the video on the JDM Legacy with sequential turbos I knew I wanted to build race cars/custom street cars for a living. I know you mentioned at some point that the series will be ending this year, and I just wanted to say thank you so much for the work you do, and have done. I'll be a die hard fan until the end. -Thanks again, from one Matt to another

      @bilibiliism 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

After read your comment, I did some research. I speced every possible option on turbo s, carbi s, and targa s, and read the porsche official user manual. I can confirm there are 3 blanc buttons in the lower left of center console serve no purpose at all. They are always blank no matter in which configuration in any model of 911. That is insane!
Edit: Then I realised I forgot about gt series. Then I tried gt3. two of three battons are labeled. But no matter how do I spec it, the third button is still blank.
Then I tried gt2 rs. Finnally, all three missing buttons are labeled. So you need to buy the highest end 300k version to fill the empty three buttons...
But you still wont get a car without any blank buttons. In fact gt2 rs has more blank buttons than gt3. Because there are no "engine start stop" and "rear wing" buttons etc.
Conclusion: Same as the initial conclusion. No 911 in any configuration have all buttons labeled.

Good video. Would have liked to hear something about throttle response of the turbo engine. On that road it should have been easy to feel any lag versus NA engine it replaces. Important to know if the smaller turbos without the variable vane and constant spool tech found in the Turbo S really are as good. Since you make the comparison with the Turbo S in the beginning, it would have completed the picture.

Those are some good shots! That shot in the snow with the drone, lol. That's a sweet Porsche but I'm not sure I would want the revmatching. I'm still waiting on that SAAB 9-5 AERO video. I hope his Aero is well sorted, his lack of fornt lip is not a good sign. The subframe bushings, most suspension components, motor and trans mounts all probably need to be renewed at this point if not already replaced. They need a lot of little things but are great when well sorted especially with a manual trans, although the 5 speed auto with the paddle shifters is adequate.

Matt, hope you had a chance to also drive the road that heads east out of Virginia city - Six Mile Canyon Rd, even more epic than 341 in my opinion. Slower speeds but quicker elevation changes and more twisty bits. The constant nagging from the nav reminds me of Clarkson and the e60 M5 review - hilarious!

Have heard that on track that this is a 991.1 GT3 equivalent (stock) even though it is slightly less HP and higher weight. And that the torque is really what closed the gap. Of course that would be both cars on the same tires. Still prefer NA though, so I love the GT3.

Your enthusiasm for this bad boy really psyched me up ... Finally got it a couple of weeks ago what can I say , you were right it’s a really nice kick ass car ... spec ed it out real nice basically got everything except the pdcc and the carbon brakes. Got the manual .. chose Chaulk for the color .. like your boy s GT3 touring btw another good video loved the comparo with the T ...anyway love what your doing Man living the dream , your a fortunate Man keep up the good work .. saw you on Rogans pod cast great show I love watches too ...

Ceramic Brakes: Having driven 2 PASM Carrera S back to back on bumpier roads, one ceramic braked and the other not, I can tell you that one of the less obvious benefits of the ceramic option is the improvement in ride quality and confidence. You won't notice this on smoother roads, however, drivers in the north east tend to get their backroads with lots of bumps and sharp crests. Here the substantial difference in unsprung weight makes a subtle difference when you're going for it. Worth it?

You talked about the steering and front grip compared to the older cars, but the real question is how does the awd front grip compare to the 2wd gts that you drove directly before this? You say that you would want the 2wd if it was your car, but is that because you don’t notice any improvement in front grip compared to the awd? I had the 991.1 Carerra 4S (NA 400hp) and the front grip in tight corners was phenomenal. I would expect that it is noticeably better than the 2wd.

I love the GT3s and given enough money I'd have one as well, but for $150k, I think a manual GTS with all the leather and options without the ceramic brakes would be a hell of an all around car.
I'll take a rwd one in black over Bordeaux with the centerlocks and all of the options.
