The 3.8 in the 991.1 is truly a work of art. The last of the NAs. Feels just that but more special than the 991.2. And the gas pedal is just so instant. Love it.

The NA sound with the snap, crackle, pop is the greatest in the automotive world!

Sure the 991.1 revs higher and is more of an enthusiast version as one has to use the engine revs to fully engage the vehicle, that connection is better and once learned could be more fun. However, from a perspective of a less engaged driver, the mid-range torque of the turbo is more forgiving. I have driven BMW turbo engines and enjoy the midrange grunt. I am still trying to decide which version of this 991 S version I should buy.

I still keep up with the GT3s and GT3RS’ on canyon fun runs anyways. The only place you’ll really see a big difference in performance is on a track.
Then again, I’ve put roughly $20k in mods on mine. Akrapovic exhaust, FVD headers and tune, DSC suspension controller, DSC/tractive suspension, GT3 sway bars and control arms.
I can afford a new 992 Turbo or a .2 GT3. I’m not giving up my .1 GTS. It’s a really special car that IMO represents the end of an era for Carreras. In the same way that the 997.2 GT3RS represented an end of the analog track focused car.
