Thank you Bud. If not for you I would have thrown away a trimmer away after one season. Thanks for doing the research and helping everyone out. You're a life saver.
Thank you, John! X 1000. What BS trying to find anything remotely to this video. Searched for weeks on and off. How frustrating trying to be a damn detective. Not even my weed trimmer. Fixing it for a coworker. WTF…SMH. You are the MAN!
Got it buddy, you are absolutely the only person addressing this insane configuration. as well you may have to clamp off the short one to the top of the carb to prime the whole carburetor and the bulb. At least that's what I had to do to get the system to prime. Thanks again!
THANK YOU, John! The diagram was a life saver! Like you said, could not find any info anywhere else on the 3-hole bulb. My bulb would not fill up unless holding the throttle at the same time.
Dear sir, I'm not trying to find fault. The "p" on underside of bulb runs to brass elbow; The "IN" runs to top of carburetor nearest the throttle-adjustment-screw; The "O" runs to fuel tank (green line). Please let your peeps know that primer bulb does not have to completely get full when priming. & fuel with ethanol ruins this model carburetor. Tks.
Your configuration worked for me when the one in the video didn't. With a past career in mechanics, I was not wanting to allow myself to be beaten by a stupid line trimmer despite several frustrating wasted hours. Was just about to pull out the last of my hair, and waste even more time and money buying a second aftermarket carb, when I decided to first double check everything I thought I knew to be fact. The line diagram in this video being one of them. So I went in search of something more than just a "thank you" in the comments. Such as people in the comments saying the configuration in this video worked for them. Luckily I found your comment instead claiming a different configuration is needed. And it worked! Thank you so much for taking the time to suggest an alternate way! And Thank You for helping me preserve my sanity! It is much appreciated.
You are both right. He is working with an OEM bulb and you were working with an aftermarket one. For some reason the aftermarket ones are backwards from the OEM. Maybe the Chinese lost something in translation but it definitely makes it even more confusing!
Life saver. I could not find anything on where the fuel lines go either. Only I have the TB635EC I have 2 fuel lines coming off the primer bulb. So I am a bit confused but will do more research. Thanks Again!
The P stands for primer. This is a choke-less setup. The purge bulb not only PURGES air from the system, but also PRIMES the carburetor to assist in starting.
I think when you pump the primer bulb, you are pulling fuel in through the filter from the tank into the bowl of the carb (blue circles), and then up from the top of the carb bowl through to the primer bulb (yellow) and then from the bulb to spray fuel back through the carb inlet or throat in the red circle line. The red line ends at the side of the air inlet where the choke should be. I believe you are literally spraying a primer shot of fuel into the inlet. The third hose on the bulb is a breather. On a diaphragm pump like the little bulb, the dry side needs to be vented to air so you can pump on the wet side without creating a vacuum on the dry side. Otherwise it would defeat the purpose. At least that's my theory.
I have this model and had to change that bulb and it was a pain. Now though having problems with the throttle it's being a pain to start. Will run after getting warmed up, but can't keep it at full throttle. Will cut off and/or tries. To when trimming. Thinking it needs new carburetor and lines
I had the same problem with mine, I can't get the thing to run if the primer bulb is hooked up like the diagram, I hooked it up so it pulls fuel out of the tank through the carburetor pump. that left a 50/50 chance for the other 2 (return to tank, and carb) if you hook these up backwards, too much fuel will go to the carb and it will bog down with rich condition while running. It runs good now, but takes several tries to start it.
John I'd like to know if gas is suppose to come into the bulb. When I 1st got mine I never seen gas till it started. This one i have is almost new. It use to run till it got below half tank gas. I figured lines was wrong, you have good video for sure, I just don't see nothing wrong with the lines but am going change them an try it thanks bud
Thank you so much. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to reroute the lines after cleaning the carburetor and changing the fuel filter and bulb - still can't get gas to the bulb. My last resort is to change all of the lines - still does not work and I am assuming I have the lines misrouted. Wish me luck!
Not sure whats wrong with your weedeater but something i know for a fact is dont use ethanol in any of your machines, find a gas station in your hometown that sells real gas, many problems with these weedeaters and mowers gets attributed to "well that brand doesn't work or its not good" when in reality its the gas people put in them, ethanol is worthless, i wouldn't use it to burn trash with. Real gas is not that much more than ethanol, take my advice, ive seen what ethanol does up close and personal, might be too late for your present weedeeater but if you get a new one dont use ethanol.
Never again will i buy a TB weed whacker... nuff said! And yes to the commenter about the Kali emissions! I'm too old school for these types of appliances... I'll go back to my sickle and hand shears before i drop another penny into this junk.. Good informative video tho Sir... the problem IS the redundancy of the companies product problems!!
I was gifted a new trimmer like this from my neighbor. He used it 3 times, said it started too hard, so his wife bought him a different trimmer. I found the coil was not spaced properly from the flywheel, so it had poor spark, and it wasn't getting fuel. Took me a couple days to figure out the black plastic line going to the top of the carb was a little short, and the factory bent the hose putting it on (quality assembly in Mexico?). I replaced that line with a longer, more flexible hose and now the primer fills with gas and it starts with just a couple pulls. I agree with others, that info on this trimmer is scarce and nearly impossible to find online. Owners manual is overly simplistic and a joke.
nice video....this stuff can get confusing fast once you have a the primer bilb off....thanks for taking the time to do the video...could you post the pdf somewhere?
Really? You got to be cynical when I'm trying to help people? It eats weeds I am 58 and it has always been called a weed eater in reference not in brand even though it is a brand. Don't be that guy, why don't you try being supportive, Everybody already knows these things and we don't need that kind of input here. Thanks!
It is a weird setup. I have no idea what mtd was thinking when they did this. Other than to keep it emissions legal in California or something. I'm not bringing any more into my shop unless they'll pay 100 or so out the door with new lines and a carb. Luckily the carb only lists for around 20 bucks.
This is a screwed up design and the parts are hard to find! After 2 day of looking I finally found a 3 line bulb on Ebay! The description said for a Cub weed eater but is the same. The link is attached! Hope this help y'all! rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F201865545646
That has be stupid set up, I have tried mine different ways an it still doesn't get gas. Am just like you I used mine half summer and it hasn't ran since. Junk
Someone gave me one of these. I know why he gave it to me. Nothing but a red POS! Unless you also want to spend $60 on their hand held electric starter, the pull cord only lasted about 10 pulls before the small springs that ingage the pull cord broke. I scraped it and got a husky.
Aaron, the same thing happened to me with the pull cord. I think I used it for two weekends and the cord assembly broke. Luckily I had the Jump Start but for my drill. Troy-Bilt was always pretty much a two year disposable weedeater, but they’ve gotten so bad it’s not even worth taking a chance on them anymore. Absolute garbage.
Thank you Bud. If not for you I would have thrown away a trimmer away after one season. Thanks for doing the research and helping everyone out. You're a life saver.
Your welcome. I'm glad I could help.
Thank you, John! X 1000.

Thank you! I looked everywhere for the layout of the fuel lines and couldn't find anything helpful until I saw your video.

Thanks for the information. There isn't much on the internet about the configuration of a three line primer bulb. Definitely a life saver!!!!!
Same as my TB6044XP. This is the only source I have found. Thank you.
you are the man.. wont find this information anywhere else on the web. the p is the primer/ no choke
THANK YOU, John! The diagram was a life saver! Like you said, could not find any info anywhere else on the 3-hole bulb. My bulb would not fill up unless holding the throttle at the same time.
Very helpful! I was about to head out to buy a new trimmer. Simple fix after I saw the video
Thanx this very helpful couldn't find either after millions searches
Thanks!
Thanks! Your support helps the channel grow. I'm glad I could help.
Thanks for doing that video, I looked everywhere for how to hook up fuel line for my Troybuilt TB635EC and your diagram worked perfect. Thanks
Thanks!
Hey awesome video
Can you please provide where can we find that diagram please?
I've had this model for a few years. When it runs, it runs very good. Had this same problem. Thanks for the post.
Thank you for the layout because I was having trouble with one to know where that I could find the layout of the primer bulb thank you for your video

I will add that I was using an aftermarket carb, so results may vary?

modle #TB675EC is the same problem . you are a big help but were did you finally get the replacement bulb with 3 hose ports ?
i noticed they have a written instruction on site now mtd.force.com/TroyBilt/s/article/380-1?language=en_US
I found one on eBay.
e-Bay or Troybilt. Troybilt is cheaper, about $3.00, Part No MTD 753-08319.
I also have a TB675EC, my primer bulb only has TWO connections, not THREE like on this model.
Helped me out. Thanks!
Glad it helped!

Thanks for the video, I'm really irritated at my Troy Built trimmer right now, third season won't prime.

Wow that’s a lot of views. Congratulations. John’s a stellar fellow. Made in Mexico. Should have known! Lol 😂. Very diverse directions. Thanks buddy
You just saved my day man! Thanks for this vid.

Hello John. How can I get a copy of the factory diagram? Thanks! Clint
I went to their website and found it in the forums. You can see it in the video if you want to pause it and take a print screen from it.
Thank you very useful
Thanks
Thanks and many Thanks!!!!
👍 Good Job !!
Thanks!!
This is not a weedeater, it is a string trimmer. Weedeater is a brand of string trimmer.
Really? You got to be cynical when I'm trying to help people? It eats weeds I am 58 and it has always been called a weed eater in reference not in brand even though it is a brand. Oh my god, Who the hell cares. Weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, nobody gives a fuck what it's called.
John, This was very helpful. However, apparently Troy bilt has lost our business PERIOD.
