@@Fabo__HD Seriously. I just loaded up a new save file I started 1 year and 11 months ago and I had the Nook store all the way leveled up even before I had unlocked the Able Sister's shop. Things should not be that easy to level up fully in the early game.
"I'm not too sure if Nookingtons is still unlockable with the DS version" I believe it is! All versions that had a WiFi connection also have access to local play (with the exception of City Folk on the Wii). This means if you, for example, own 2 copies of Wild World and 2 systems, you can just go to your other town and buy something. At least I hope. I bought a second copy of Etsy just to try and upgrade the store, so it better work... Speaking of Wild World, just a fun memory for me was back in the day looking on message boards to see if the Tricera Skull was a rare fossil. It was the last one I needed, and I couldn't find it anywhere. It's not rare, I was just unlucky. In one of my New Horizons islands, the last fossil I needed was, once again, the Tricera Skull. This seemed to be false and Redd scammed me out of more Bells than I care to remember. I'm still bitter about it.
If you wanted to, and it'd be somewhat of a pain, you could find someone to connect with through Wiimmfi who also needs Nookingtons. Maybe there's a forum or a Discord for it or something.
Late to the party. You don't need Wi Fi. You can use two compatible systems (a DS for example) and basic wireless between the two systems. I have two copies of Animal Crossing Wild World (and two 3DS') and have tested this.
For Wild World, you didn't need someone to join your town over WiFi, you could also invite then over through local play. That's how I upgraded to my Nookingtons. I didn't have WiFi in my house until 2011 or something, so I used to bring my ds to school or friends' houses to play in their towns. You need to be careful how you explain these requirements, because some people (without the experience) will take your words literally, and might not be able to connect through WiFi or whatever 😅

I would love to see a version of tortimer’s island come back (with the rare fruits, beetles, and all of the multiplayer fun as before,) see more store upgrades again, re-introduce a lot of the traveling villagers (I miss Phineas’s badges and I loved the llamas at Retail, etc.) and add more variety to the dialogue options for villagers. Nookington's is still unlockable in Wild World if you connect through local multiplayer. That's how I unlocked it on my town when I was a young kid, I believe playing the game with my cousin.
If you visit a friend with ds to ds play in wild world I believe you can still get nookingtons. I’ve had nookingtons in my town and never used WiFi for that game but both of my brothers had copies and we linked ds quite a bit! I never knew that was a requirement. Pretty cool!
I miss the later hours of the Nook n Go/TnT Mart shops with the night owl city ordinances your shop could be open till basically 1-2am if I remember correctly. As someone who doesn't play during the day it was nice putting in some work on my town late night without time travel.
It was a crime and a shame that Nook's Cranny didn't get upgrades in New Horizons. Especially considering how many different themes islands can have (and how many different ways to play AC there are), it would've been really nice to go the City Folk route and select the store that worked best for you. I would have loved the chance to pick a department store with limited hours but insane item availability or a convenience store with limited item selection but a 24-hour open time for night owls. Even just stylistic changes -- if the content of each store was more or less the same -- would have been exciting and fun to use. But just the same Nook's Cranny all around was a bit dull. The interior isn't particularly exciting, either. One of the weaker interiors in a game full of interiors that seemed full of life and energy. I also agree that having more stores in New Horizons would have been fun. I would have loved to make my own Main Street! While Harv's Island is nice, having to go off-island and only see those lil shacks in a circle is a bit...underwhelming? Better than nothing though, for sure. Tbh, islands in New Horizons are just too small for shops like that. Imagine having eight players, ten villagers, and then like seven shops on your island with the size as it is currently. I don't know about you, but I'm having trouble just finding space for a second player house! In the next game, I hope we see a lot more shopping options and customization in that respect. And way bigger towns/islands, most of all!
I'm pretty sure Local Play(plus having someone buy something from your store) was all you needed for the Wild World upgrade to Nookington's! I know I never got online through WiFi on the DS at least, but me and my friends all managed to get the last upgrade
I have Nookington’s on WW ds lite. 😅 I didn’t even know having a friend buy something was a requirement. My sis had the same game and her own ds so that I guess helped? It’s definitely how I got different fruit back in the day. 👍🏻
I got Nookington's as a kid with the Gamecube by using two memory cards. I had two normal ones, plus an action reply one and the animal crossing one. So I had plenty of ways to have others come to my town and buy stuff. In Wild World, I never played on Wi-Fi, just locally. I had, like, one person to play with, and he bought something. Then, I got the final upgrade. So, unless my game was glitched, you can get the final upgrade with local play. It'd still be a lot harder these days... Ironically easier on the Gamecube since you only need two cards not two cubes. Also, because of how its done, possible on emulation only on the Gamecube.
Regarding the NGC version of Nookington, there was a special bundle where you got a white memory card that had some goodies (I think it was a few NES games? It's been 20 years) but that's how I managed to get Nookington.
I find it funny that I don’t feel the same disappointment that other people feel over things like the lack of shop upgrades. New Horizons is the first Animal Crossing game I got into.
It also worked with local play with wild world me and my bff would play together for hours as kids (also local play still works I have multiple copies )
I have Animal Crossing for the DS (two copies). You can 100% unlock Nookingtons over DS to DS wireless (without Wi Fi). All that is required are two compatible systems (Ds, DS Light, DS i, 3DS, 2DS) and two copies of Animal Crossing Wild World. Instead of choosing Wi Fi when talking to Booker, choose wireless (nearby town, not far away).
I hated that new horizons didn’t have more upgrades because little me loved that in the games, I do get why they at least didn’t do a Nook’n’go/T&T Mart since it’s a deserted island and they’re giving a more island theme, still would have liked some different shop upgrades :/
My first animal crossing game was acnh and I’m so jealous that there was a two-story giant effing department store!!! I get that new horizons is going for a more quaint vibe but some of the old designs looked awesome
You can get Nookington on the DS with a action replay DS (cheat device) it adds a leaf of the shop in your pocket you can place it down but if you accidentally save after placing it it’s permanently stuck there so be careful also not all the items are available to get they never show up in the shop to buy when you place the shop.
Yes it's awful how they haven't figured out local play emulation on the DS emulator Edit: MelonDS has local play support! Finally us queens can have legit Nookington's.
That’s a dumb reason. I think it would make a lot more sense if the upgrades were optional and aesthetic only, but the inside continued to upgrade regardless of appearance (just for more furniture options daily etc.) This is game development, we don’t need to make excuses for when they remove features. There’s almost always a way to make it work. They just didn’t care to.
hopefully the next AC game kind of returns us to new leaf upgrades. I feel NH was a test look at what could do well and hopefully the next game brings back TONS of the stuff from older games and STILL makes it seem like a new game
as much as i loved upgrading, i think it's perfect for island life. in all other games, there's already villagers there, a town hall, a city, because you're not on some far off place. now i've always been one to never make my towns have pathways everywhere, a little neighborhood, i never made it fancy, so I especially dont really do it on a remote island. i think because this is like.. a simple life. yk despite being able to have a fully golden room, big ole mansion, and an amusement park LOL
I would love to, in the next Animal Crossing game, be able to control how Nook’s cranny shops is by remodeling it, kind of like what you did at the restaurant and the shops in happy home paradise.
Wow those creative names... in Germany it was just Nooks Laden, SuperNook, MegaNook and HyperNook XD Yes the last upgrade of the Nook on the DS is possible without WiFi... We never had WiFi as kids on our DS but still got the last upgrade... You can just do it with 2 DS and 2 Games localy
My sisters and I plated the gcb version on the wii in the 2010s and each had our own gamecards with our own towns, so I'm pretty sure we accidentally upgraded the store, without knowing how we did it lol
For wild world, i believe the only way to get the nookington upgrade for the ds version (unless local play works) is by using the 3rd party Wimmfi service that is basically the replacement for the defunct nintendo wifi network.
Tbh I'm all for upgrades but my island is an island, not a city. (In my head canon I left the busy city to get away from the stress, so why build another city? ) If you could choose the style for the final upgrade, that would be amazing. I don't want a flashy huge store, RS is already too chic for my taste 🤣
My best friend and I both had Nookington in WW and we played via local connection, not wifi. I didn't even know it was a requirement to let a friend buy sth. in order to get that upgrade.
You don’t need Wi-Fi on the DS version. You do need two DS compatible devices (3DS systems work) and two copies and you can do a DS to DS wireless connection and have one villager come in and shop at the store.
Local connection still works in wild world! I have a 3ds and a dsi i tested this on. I can make a lower wifi hotspot on my phone old ds' can connect to so theoretically wfc it still works if both ds' are on the same wifi. Im currently using them both to exploit the stalk market once i get a good price.
Honestly I think not having alot of shops in NH fits because well. The island is supposed to away from the crazy of the mainland. I think having the basics fits what the Island is supposed to be. A getaway from the crazy of alot of modernization.
The wild world and city folk one about nookington is wrong…I think. Maybe it’s regional difference but the European version(which I have) requires you to EITHER spend 240k OR have a friend come over to visit via local or online play, if I remember correctly. I never used wifi on my DS back in the days because…well I just didn’t know about Wi-Fi at the age of like 4 or 7 years old but I still got nookington because a friend came to visit and bought something in wild world. In city folk….well we didn’t use the online connection but still got nookington)
10:44 what about local? Would that work too? Otherwise I guess its near impossible to get it ligit now. (near impossible, because theres a chance theres an unoffical server for it) 11:31 Oh ok, cool. Also, what do you mean something "wierd" with the local play? Is there something else you have to do also besides local and spending bells? and yes, local play still works, I did it a few days ago. Or DS to DS as its called.
Upgrading the shops when I was younger was so magical and fun!!! I do miss it, especially when you’d get to buy SO MANY items per day
I miss them too 😔
and gracie! what i wouldn't give to have the sweets set back.
It was such a great moment in new leaf (my first ac game) when I'd see a new building be constructed, or seeing the Nook store getting bigger
Hi! You can upgrade to the last shop in Wild World using local, you just need someone to befriend you and buy something from your store. Bye!

Also German here haha!
It’s so sad they cut off the wifi thing because I got into WW again and probably won’t be able to get the last book upgrade xD
@@Ravens_Mary well unless you get a second DS and a second game XD or a friend whi has those still
Local play definitely gets you nookingtons in wild world on the DS! I used to bug my friends all the time for their help.
You can just use the non wifi method but require a nearby friend
you are such a good channel
You forgot to mention one of the Nook store upgrades in New Leaf, which is Super T&T, the one after T&T Mart
Pretty sure local play works when unlocking the final shop on the ds. My brother helped me unlock mine, and we always just played locally!
Tbh I'm all for upgrades but my island is an island, not a city. (In my head canon I left the busy city to get away from the stress, so why build another city? )
If you could choose the style for the final upgrade, that would be amazing. I don't want a flashy huge store, RS is already too chic for my taste 🤣
see i definitely had nookington on wild world ds- BUT i didn’t have wifi at the time. i used local play to have my cousins visit though
My best friend and I both had Nookington in WW and we played via local connection, not wifi.
I didn't even know it was a requirement to let a friend buy sth. in order to get that upgrade.
Local play still works for the DS by the way
I've watched your halo content for years and recently went on an animal crossing kick, had no idea you had this channel haha
Btw u missed super t&t on the new leaf game but still a great video
Local play on the DS is still a thing! Playing M64 multiplayer is very fun lol
TIY is the 4th tier of store in new leaf, there is an iteration of nook way as the 3rd level
just remembered it's called super T and T
WHAT A THROWBACK in 2023
Honestly I think not having alot of shops in NH fits because well. The island is supposed to away from the crazy of the mainland. I think having the basics fits what the Island is supposed to be. A getaway from the crazy of alot of modernization.
It took me ages to upgrade nookling junction. It didn't take me long In wild world to get from nooks cranny to nookingtons.
Huh, so weird to me that Nookington was locked in that way. I never knew.
Local play is how I unlocked nookington in wild world.
Nookway is Super T&T in New Leaf btw
I don't really miss more updates in New Horizons. Sure, they were over the top, but wouldn't really fit into "deserted island getaway" theme of NH.
you forgot super t&t that is the third upgrade in new leaf TIY is 4th upgrade
tangy:eat me
me:😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Local play does work to unlock nookingtons, i loaded up wild world on my 3ds to visit my ds town
loved this
The wild world and city folk one about nookington is wrong…I think.
Super t&t is new leaf’s nookway!
Lokal play works, i did that when i just took my mothers ds and animal crossing game to get the Shop myself
ouch i feel called out for being a bad friend for not buying anything
There is a Nookway in new leaf it comes before TIY you forgot it
And then regressed in New horizons.
You skipped "super tnt" in new leaf?
Bro actually forgot Super T&T
My sister and I have acww on the ds and we visit each others islands the time
I think you missed the super smash bros. ultimate storymode timmy and tommy's shop
I meant adventure mode, haha
With wild world I do not think it was only wofi,nc I never had friends visit over wifi, only local play and I got the last store.
i wish i played the original animal crossing games.
My Nooks Cranny always looked like the final ACNH upgrade version, other than the tent in the beginning. Is there a reason for this?
Why is super t&t always forgotten about
You forgot super TNT
Where did you get the music?
These subtitles make me crazy
Why did leafs cute little store get removed by upgrading the store in new leaf. I think leif's stor is cute
10:44 what about local? Would that work too? Otherwise I guess its near impossible to get it ligit now. (near impossible, because theres a chance theres an unoffical server for it)
11:31 Oh ok, cool. Also, what do you mean something "wierd" with the local play? Is there something else you have to do also besides local and spending bells?
and yes, local play still works, I did it a few days ago. Or DS to DS as its called.
Uh.. New Leaf had super tnt
