You know, I watched a billion reviews of the HD600s before I finally bought them. I saw this one as I was waiting for them to arrive, and it actually did by far the best job of making me feel like I made the right decision. Your honesty about your lack of knowldge in this area combined with your clear excitement about them made me realize, sometimes, it's simply better to leave the experts behind and remember we're all just humans that like what we like. And if one headphone or another is better, these still kick ass. Happy to report I love them!

Man this "Normal perspective" are things I always wanted to know about these expensive headphones. Like, I've heard about Open-backs, but I always wanted to see how it sounds for people around you to get an idea of much sound it actually bleeds out. Thank you for these unique informations!! Great review!
Also just a small tip, I don't know if it was just me but I found myself constantly changing the volume because between the transitions where you make the music louder, it's way too loud compared to your voice. I was constantly increasing and decreasing the volume, not because the music is bad, just way too loud compared to your voice.

Out of all the headphone I ever tried the hd600 sounds the best.
    I got the hifiman sundara, wh1000xm3 , kph30i.
And I would dare to say that the koss kph30i is the best 30$ headphone to exist.
Both the hd600 and kph30i are tuned to the neutral target.
Clearly the kph30i is a hd600 but less detailed and clear but still a solid experience.
I swapped many time between them and even when I got the hd600 ,I often grabbed the kph30i when going outside.
Best part is that the hd600 and kph30i sound just fine on a smartphone dac.
No need of an external amp/dac
Respect your ears and get the kph30i if you are on a budget but still want a sound that Respect you

Your going to need real records or high bitrate streaming to get any real world benefits from high end headphones. What you told as "soundstage" is actually "imaging"
Imaging : The headphone gives you an idea where each and every instrument is placed in the room while recording
Soundstage : How far away the sound is coming from. If its intimate soundstage, it would feel like the instrument is near your ear. If its wide soundstage, it would sound like the sound if coming 4 meter to your right.

Myself (an audiophile) and essentially every audiophile friend and reviewer I've seen disagree with you. Soundstaging is the realism of sound placement, while the width is literally just referred to as width. When audiophiles say imaging, they are referring to the movement of sounds from left to right.

    3:40 quick note
    plese...PLEASEEEE
do not use impedence as a info on whether a headphone need amp or not...PLEASE
look at sensitivity /mw instead as it more accurate on how loud the headphone can push at similar power output
for example my he400se and akg k371 both have similar impedence but i wouldnt run he400se off mother board or phone dac..why? because the thing is pretty unsensitive
similar story as my blessing 2 and kato...1 need a bit of volume while other can blow your ear if you push it a bit
..so why do manufacturer include them? because impedence swing (when 2 have drastically different impedence..ie your source to your headphone of choise) it can changes your frequency responce (changes in the frequency impedence curve)

    HD 600
    Pros :
    - Very clear and detailed, it feels snappy.
    - Neutral sound which is why many like this.
    - Vocal is clear and forward.
    Cons:
    - Bass is not impactful as you find in a lots of review.
    - Soundstage feels definitely narrow and restricted, I could confirm this after hours of usage.
    - Not as enjoyable for a casual/normal user. That laid back and smoothness is missing.
    HD 6xx
    Pros:
    - Much better based and sounds fuller.
    - Soundstage is definitely better.
    - Very smooth and laid back tune that could be used for hours without fatigue.
    - Vocals are darker and recessed, if you like that.
    Cons:
    - Not as clear or detailed as you may feel when compared with HD 650
    - Not neutral sound signature as HD 650
As my HD 6xx got damaged I ordered HD 600 after so many wonderful recommendations online but in short it is not as enjoyable and non-fatiguing . So will try now HD 660s or something which is more enjoyable and return HD 600.
Considering enjoyability aspect in mind might be Sennheiser sound engineers tuning the subsequent versions of 600 series (650, 660s, 660s2 etc.) - Kudos to them for these wonderful Open-backs.

Just a heads up, the BTR5 is only rated for up to 150 ohms. While you can run HD600’s out of a BTR5, you’re really pushing the limits of the poor thing. HD600’s have a 300 ohm impedance. I really recommend getting something like an audient id4 (it’s a DAC that has a built in amp that can run headphones up to 300 ohms no problem) or a separate DAC/AMP.
You could also go the cheaper route and just get a replacement cable that terminates in a 2.5mm balanced over the standard 3.5mm. The BTR5 has 2 DAC’s in it, but they’re only both used if you’re using the balanced out. Balanced out on the BTR5 is something crazy; like 270mW of power. That should be enough to comfortably run HD600’s.

I like that I can wear them with my glasses on without them hurting. I have another couple of headphones that sound good; beyerdynamic DT 880 Pros at 250 ohms, which I run from my pedal board when I'm practicing guitar or bass at night, and beyerdynamic 1990 Pros at 250 ohms that I use for critical listening when I need to shut out sound. However, the I cannot wear the 1990s with my glasses on. the 880s are fine and sound excellent, the 1990 sound good, but I need my glasses off. this isn't usually a big deal, but when I want to read 10 point type on my iMac, I need the glasses. I run the 500s (which are 300 ohms) and 1990s through a separate DAC and headphone output. I use the DAC in my pedalboard when I practice, and it isn't as good, it sometimes gets some jitter. I usually use the 600s because they sound good, are lightweight, and are comfortable. The 880s sound really good, but I don't want to spend a lot of time switching headphones from my DAC to the pedalboard. The 88os are ported, so they have some sound leakage, but not much. They do have good imaging; I can hear sounds that appear to be behind me. I use the 1990s if I need to block sound bleed. I bought a shielded extension cable that I use with my 600s, so I have enough cord length. My 1990s only have a regular plug, so I can't use them with my small shielded cable jack. They still sound good. I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I know sound I like and I don't like.

You could buy the 6xx which is the same thing but 250 or the hd58x’s which are 200-170 depending on if
They are on sale and they sound similar but hold in more bass

    • @aaronthetechguy

I believe it’s the opposite. I think that the hd6xx are based off the hd650s, which have more bass, while the hd58x are based on the hd600s. I’ve heard they’re both a great buy though

    • @Neerano

@@aaronthetechguy The 58x use a completely different driver than the 6 familly, they are supposedly more of a cheap 660s but it has a hd700 driver. The 58x technically is somewhat a cross of the 5 and 6 familly of sens. The housing of it being obviously the same visually but cheaper plastic and a unique 150ohm driver only 58x usess with a sound signature tuned to be more of a 6 series headphone. It's arguable if the 58x belongs next to the 6 ones but it's mighty fine for the price.

What about for listening to Techno for like 5+hrs. non-stop or several hours off and on throughout the entire day? Is the bass response good like 990 Pro or 900 Pro X or even the MDR-7506? Can i wear them with my eyeglasses for hours in comfort, or will they hurt?

I personally find the bass response quite pleasing because you can hear all the bass without it shaking your head or distorting the music. I can’t compare it to any of those other headphones as I’ve never tried them before. I’ve also never worn them with glasses so I can’t speak to that.
