Still polishing their game, according to Sean as they develop new tech for their new upcoming game, they are looking to add it to NMS. Reminder, they have never charged for any of their updates or new content releases. For the past years and that included the 26 updates and they still have No in game currency that requires use of real world currency. Hello games for the win
No man sky is a lot to discover, as a newbie, I want to get this game, what is the best way to start the game and progress fast enough till it gets interesting.
I've played over 200 hours ok Switch, since launch. The early game is the best part. Once you finish that and get most of the stuff you need, there is no endgame and no good point to keep playing unless you like building bases or very shallow, repetitive gameplay. It's a disappointment, and the game is very different on Switch. I don't recommend it on Switch. But on another platform, or on a deep Switch sale. Meanwhile, I played Breath of the Wild for 1,000 hours before feeling done with it. Temper your expectations. People wildly exaggerate this game and don't list it's many issues, especially on Switch. I listed some in another comment (top level).
@@SeekSomethingMore I'm 600+ hours and I must say it's more that just that but I get what you mean, maybe just the story is shallow but really it's also quite deep at the same time. There's endless things to do and it's a living universe where you can constantly evolve, upgrade, and build whenever and wherever. It's Minecraft on crack to me
@@SniperWolfMVM You're exaggerating. There is not endless things to do. The entire game is optimized for the first 100 hours and then the difficulty scaling becomes completely unbalanced because you can do almost anything you want but there's no reason to do it and no challenge involved in it apart from time spent. I was talking about the gameplay being shallow, not the story. I haven't finished the story yet but most of it is poorly written. A living universe? Each planet has a very low amount of diversity both in terms of Flora and fauna. Planetary terrain also has very low diversity. For having a procedural engine, so many of the planets are similar. If you want space Minecraft, sure, it's a decent option for that. But if you want proper gameplay and a well-designed game, it's not.
How large is the file for all the updates together? I have the physical version but haven’t popped it in to play it yet but your video is making me want to play.
It’s amazing that it’s on Switch and runs as well as it does. That said. I feel bad for anyone playing it solely on this platform. Heck. At least play it on Steam Deck if you gotta go portable. You’ll have the full featured game and it’ll run better. Plus you’ll get to pick up where you left off on PC if you’ve got one. Just my 2¢.
Yeah, that's my sentiment towards most more technically ambitious Switch ports....most of them run well enough, and it's impressive they're on the platform, but insofar as offering a playable and enjoyable experience with the blurry dynamic res/textures and borderline framerate...eh, I'll stick to first-party games you can only (officially) play on Nintendo platforms that are designed FOR the hardware.
I only have it for the Switch. It's a cool game at first but it gets old really quick, I don't usually want to go back to it except to check in on a major update once in a while. I would imagine the core gameplay experience is the same on other platforms.
Most switch ports are like a proof-of-concept demonstration that games can be optimized to run on a very limited system and that is very good. This shows which devs actually have skills and the diligence to optimize their games. But yes I agree. Better to use something like the Steam Deck for 3rd party games like NMS. Things are looking good tho if the new switch successor will have backwards compatibility because these ports will be running better on it and new ports from other 3rd parties might be considered.
I already thought what they were doing with the Switch port was impressive, as I own it on my Switch Lite and have played many hours on there. When I saw the trailer for the Worlds update my first thought was "damn, rip the Switch port" but nope. Hello Games delivers yet again.
The new switch 2 is going to run this game better ,it might have multiple unlock due to better graphics chips is going to be updated to run even better for no man sky.
It's insane how far this game has come, and the lengths HG has gone to to support it on several platforms, for free. They've spoiled all of us a thousand times over.
I have only dabbled in NMS. I was wondering where one would get started or if you have a great video to look at to jump in for the first time in 2024. I can play on PS5, PC, and Xbox, as well as Switch, but I would probably go with PS5 or Xbox in all honesty.
By far the biggest thing about the update on Switch is they finally fixed mining. Now it's a smooth, satisfying process just like on other platforms. Amazing update.
Any suggestions on how to get deep into the game? I always feel after the first 5-6 hours the grind is unreal. Does it get less of a grind for resources?
I bought nms 2 days ago on switch and I love it but it kind of frustrating to know that it’s not the full game… no settlement,no real multi ( I heard about raids ?) and on others versions it looks so nice … so I hestitate to stop on switch before having to much hours and start over on bigger machine
It's really up to personal preference. The Switch version is amazing for an on-the-go experience and for what it is: No Man's Sky on the palm of your hand. However, the Switch is lacking a couple major features such as multiplayer and in graphical fidelity, but if that's not a concern to you, I'd recommend it! When the PC version isn't on sale, the Switch version is also cheaper.
The Switch version is great, but I wanted to know why the Xbox One version has such a low framerate. I'm playing on Xbox One X, and after the update, the game seems to be running at 20 fps. I hope they fix this.
I mean, as way to play the game on the go if you already have it on steam, and if you can't or won't shell out hundreds for a deck, it's a great decision. It's my case. Nms for switch is cheaper than a deck.
Your opinion is bad because the pop-in is not even an issue. The draw distance is perfectly fine, and the frame rate is near 30 at all times. NMS is one of the best looking and running games on the switch.
The ports of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are far more umpressive in terms of actual performance. NMS studders quite a lot and gas numerous other technical issues on Switch. Hardly a miracle port.
@@AnotherMagicalday how much do us Switch players will miss out on the Settlements? Does it contribute to gameplay and immersion alot? Thanks man nice vid

In Mans Sky there should be melee weapons, swords, knives, hammers, there should be combos, there should be aggressive monsters like those in Monster Hunter Rise. Are you dealing with the smaller monsters fighting them, the medium ones and the sentries shooting, and the giants and other ships with the robots, vehicles etc. In this open world it would be cool.
Lol, it's never going to be the kind of game you want it to be, though I agree that there should be more aggressive wildlife and the combat should be more engaging. It's first and foremost an exploration game.
@@CALAMITY0FHYRULE Minecraft doesn't sell itself the same way No man's sky does. Nor do players and reviews over hype Minecraft the way they do. No man's sky. Minecraft is a box of Lego and they tell you to go and have fun with it. No man's sky actually attempts to be a game but fails because it is poorly designed and the gameplay and difficulty do not scale with your progression through the game once you reach a certain point of progression. I'm not exaggerating, I looked at the sales page for the switch version just recently. In my review of no man's sky, I will go over how many of the statements they make are misleading.
The switch can be a underrated power house when games are made for it, I mean the fact it can play games like Hogwarts and The Witcher should show that Nintendo if they are willing to make a hand held as bulky as the Steam Deck, I have to wonder how thier games would be yes the deck doesn’t last as long unplugged but if Nintendo were to make a more ‘powerful version’ and explain it can only last so long without a charge or even make extended external Battery packs many would buy it I think.
lol no man's sky on switch. What is that upscaled from like 240p? I mean don't get me wrong the switch is a great console for it's first party games and a few others such as virtua racing but outside of that I never used the ones I had. If I really wanted to play nms on a handheld anything less than a handheld pc is just too weak. I got rid of the switch's I had because I prefer emulation for upscaling and frame rates.
I have a Nintendo Switch and one thing one has to always remember, it is a tablet, and now a 10 year old tablet. I don't doubt that if No Man's Sky continues to become more complex it'll eventually outgrow the Switch, and perhaps not appear again until the next Nintendo console. There are many games I would never buy on the switch because that game requires a lot of CPU and GPU . There are thousands of great games for the Switch and I'm going to stick to those, I don't know that I would ever get No Man's Sky on the Switch. I can't believe the switch has lasted 10 years, and I've really enjoyed it all this time as a mobile platform tablet that happens to connect to a TV. I am very impressed by this port and many other ports, but as I said at the beginning, the switch is a tablet
Switch players: Switch is great, and it looks really good! Switch: 3:41 That looks like a massive pile of diarrhea. Why people defend the switch for that pricing, I will never understand. It is absolute shite.
In handheld mode, it looks sooo much better (especially on the OLED switch), but in docked mode on big screen you're right it looks shitty (but serviceable... I guess)
I agree. People are fanatical cultists for Hello Games, constantly mislead new players, and I'd like it to stop. Most native Switch games look way better than NMS on Switch. You're left with bad gameplay, which is a problem on all platforms.
No, it didn't. Time for some realism. I've played NMS on Switch for over 200 hours. I installed and played 5.0 for about an hour. These are my observations: Bad things: - No Switch trailer for Worlds (Correct me if I'm wrong), because they're aware of how terrible the game would look in comparison. - I was playing for less than an hour, and the game crashed while just walking around. I wasn't near any crazy bases or anything complex. Welcome to playing on the Switch. - When shooting the mining lazer, it still shoots large squares for a few seconds until the graphical effect loads. - My science terminal is still broken, blocking progress. Two major expedition updates, and they still haven't fixed this. Either they're ignoring it, or they don't even know about it. - The graphics update is very minor. There's maybe a 10% improvement. E.g. I'm on an ice planet, and it looks NOTHING like what they show in the trailer. Other planets look similar, including a paradise planet I visited. - I fell through the terrain on my Pilgrim exo-craft multiple times (a bug that's been happening for over a year) - There are waves in tiny pools of water not connected to the ocean or lake, because the game says "bodies of water have waves now." Sloppy design. - My Pilgrim wheels still twitch frantically when I launch it into the air off a ramp, another long-time bug. - The flashlight still blows out what you're looking up when you're up close to it, instead of switching down to a lower intensity of brightness. - The new waves look very unrealistic. They're basically just a uniform save effect across all the water. The much lower tech waves on Ys Lacrimosa of Dana look more realistic from a distance, and they're just two textures overlapping. - You still can't auto-craft when installing new tech, even if you have the materials. - I'm noticing a new bug when I tried to build the new Aquatic landing tech (why do we even need new tech?) when the inventory icon flashes to prompt you to build the required ingredients for the new tech, it seems to stick around. - The surface of water still looks crap on Switch, almost like it's a ground surface, especially from far away. It's just wavy up-close, but it's too uniformly wavy to look realistic. And I see none of the reflections shown in the trailer. - I'm not seeing the hazardous flora changes I've seen in videos from other platforms. Not sure why. - Still get annoying "landing area is not clear" as the game takes 5+ seconds to load the terrain underneath the starship when trying to land. It should instead accept your input, hover until the terrain loads, then land you you automatically like it does on designated landing zones. - Underwater still looks bad. - The Nautilon exocraft doesn't disturb the surface of the water, or under the water, properly. - The title screen, before transitioning to the loading screen, still shows names of the systems, instead of only showing lights as it should. - When riding my Pilgrim, the camera still clips below the terrain as I ride it. - When accessing the + menu (the log), it still loops the sounds that were being made before pausing. So if it's an exo-craft, it repeats the droning of it, annoyingly. - The fire and smoke plume from damaged machinery on planets doesn't seem to interact with the wind. - So many words look barren and lifeless. This is a Switch issue. It seems better on PC. - Photomode still changes what I was looking at. So I'll go to take a screenshot, and what I saw will change significantly, looking worse. - On a paradise planet, while riding around in the hovercraft, it only shows the terrain, not the grass. Grass pops-in only when I get out on foot, and it about 4 seconds to do that, which looks terrible. The grass doesn't even look good. Meanwhile, Breath of the Wild always has grass, and you can interact with it (burn it, chop it, and it sweys in wind). Good things: - We can FINALLY shoot asteroids further away, instead of shooting them and nothing happening until we're close. - Landing on water is nice, but should have been in-game at launch or years ago. - Flying a ship above the water disturbs the water. Doesn't look as good as on the trailer, but it's better than no interaction like it was before. - Waves during storms look good. Much more dramatic than when there's no storm - The new clouds look better, but they're about 10% of what you see on the trailer. The main difference I notice is there are two layers of clouds, upper and lower atmosphere. It's not very realistic, but it looks better. - You can interact with landed NPC ship pilots. I've never seen any of them get out before. Not sure when they patched that, or if that was a bug. - You can see space stations from planets now. Never noticed that before. Maybe it came after the space station update, I haven't played much since then. - The stary sky seems better. I remember it looking much more flat and lifeless before. - The sky from planet surface look really nice with the new colours. - It's still a good looking game, and there are moments where I notice the beauty of it. If you're happy flying around just looking at stuff Again, the developers have focused on more "tech p*rn," instead of focusing on things meaningful to gameplay. And Switch players benefit much less from the update, but get nothing really meaningful to compensate. We're still the neglected step-children, yet we paid the same price as the other platforms. The game is so similar to how it was to the last patch, if I hadn't seen the new trailer and all the commotion about it, the changes are so minor on the Switch, I'd have barely noticed the differences. I'm left thinking, "a minor graphics boost, yet still nothing to do." This update re-affirms my decision to stop playing the game. I'll check out the expedition, but that's about it. At this point I'm not really playing because I want to, but to analyse the design changes. I have no excitement for the 5.0 update. I want to play a game like NMS, and I even want to enjoy NMS, but I get frustrated whenever I try to on Switch because the developers don't seem to give a damn about Switch players. This is why I say the Switch port is bad--lack of support. I keep returning, because I want to like it and find a reason to keep playing. The game looks SO MUCH BETTER on PC, and I can understand why people like roaming around in it. Meanwhile, Tears of the Kingdom looks amazing on Switch. If you have not played Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, I recommend those instead. If you play NMS on other platforms and Switch had cross play, like Witcher 3 or Divinity, I'd recommend it for portable play. It does not. It should be sold for much less on switch, and come with a consumer notice saying you should expect different play, and what features are missing. It does not.

I’m surprised how nice it looks. I wouldn’t play it on switch if I wanted to play it portably but to see this much effort put into the game on switch is fantastic. I’m curious to see how those visuals pan out in portable play though as I prefer to play the switch as a handheld.
Warframe and this game on switch 2 is going to be awesome
Still polishing their game, according to Sean as they develop new tech for their new upcoming game, they are looking to add it to NMS. Reminder, they have never charged for any of their updates or new content releases. For the past years and that included the 26 updates and they still have No in game currency that requires use of real world currency. Hello games for the win
No man sky is a lot to discover, as a newbie, I want to get this game, what is the best way to start the game and progress fast enough till it gets interesting.
Upgrade your miner and scanner and scan a bunch of stuff 👍🏽
There is also a subreddit for Switch nms. Good info there.
I have the physical version but haven’t popped it in to play it yet but your video is making me want to play.
mmm 5 GB
It's a reasonable download size. Took 30 mins. I'm also on physical. No MK1 nonsense.
If only all ports were this good! This game is amazing on switch absolutely luv it 👍🏻😁
It's incredible that I bought the game for my journey to the mountains just at the time this video game out. Could never have been a better time.
Just my 2¢.
Yeah, that's my sentiment towards most more technically ambitious Switch ports....most of them run well enough, and it's impressive they're on the platform, but insofar as offering a playable and enjoyable experience with the blurry dynamic res/textures and borderline framerate...eh, I'll stick to first-party games you can only (officially) play on Nintendo platforms that are designed FOR the hardware.
and it has multiplayer and settlements on steam deck
Works great on my deck. Love this game
this review makes me update my No mans sky on switch, after left it on the cabinet more than 6months haha
It's always amazing that you can play NMS on a small NS, although it's kinda weird
I already thought what they were doing with the Switch port was impressive, as I own it on my Switch Lite and have played many hours on there. When I saw the trailer for the Worlds update my first thought was "damn, rip the Switch port" but nope. Hello Games delivers yet again.
They also fixed the terraformimg delay on the switcg i was really happy that got fixed
I learned so much from this video. Thanks for the insights!
If you only ply in handheld, the game looks pretty good. I enjoy plying on the Switch.
I have only dabbled in NMS. I was wondering where one would get started or if you have a great video to look at to jump in for the first time in 2024. I can play on PS5, PC, and Xbox, as well as Switch, but I would probably go with PS5 or Xbox in all honesty.
Great fucking video - love watching the improvements NMS has made throughout the years 😊❤
Everytime i see a port like this i have the feeling that it could run well and even better on a mid phone these days, and that's crazy
crazy that switch got the water effects and mac stays the exact same.
In my Switch Lite the game seems run better than before
Pretty amazing looking for near 10 yrs old technology tbh 👍🏻
By far the biggest thing about the update on Switch is they finally fixed mining. Now it's a smooth, satisfying process just like on other platforms. Amazing update.
No, it's not. This is misleading. There are still plenty of delays.
Any suggestions on how to get deep into the game? I always feel after the first 5-6 hours the grind is unreal. Does it get less of a grind for resources?
Imagine squeezing this game onto the switch. Incredibly underrated accomplishment
I played it on the airplane and it was quite an experience
I bought nms 2 days ago on switch and I love it but it kind of frustrating to know that it’s not the full game… no settlement,no real multi ( I heard about raids ?) and on others versions it looks so nice … so I hestitate to stop on switch before having to much hours and start over on bigger machine
Looks great but been spoiled with playing it on the pc and xbox so I will stick with that lol
Did the switch version finally get settlements?
Great Stuff!
Wow! Looks bloody good!
Would you suggest the switch version now? I do have a pc but I do love playing games on my switch docked or handheld more.
It's also verified on Steam Deck if that's an option for you.
@@andyenglish4303 Pc and switch is all I have.
@@glowteehee6579buy it, it's a great port
It's really up to personal preference. The Switch version is amazing for an on-the-go experience and for what it is: No Man's Sky on the palm of your hand. However, the Switch is lacking a couple major features such as multiplayer and in graphical fidelity, but if that's not a concern to you, I'd recommend it! When the PC version isn't on sale, the Switch version is also cheaper.
@@andyenglish4303 deck people when they haven't mentioned their deck for more than 5 seconds
The Switch version is great, but I wanted to know why the Xbox One version has such a low framerate. I'm playing on Xbox One X, and after the update, the game seems to be running at 20 fps. I hope they fix this.
Not bad is it for a device that can't run the kingdom hearts SERIES SQUARE ENIX
"Appule couldn't handle a shot of raspberry schnapps, much less Vegeta" So is the Switch the Appule of video game consoles?
thanks for the video
Ey yo, what background music is this?
No Man's Sky Soundtracks.
The switch punches way above its weight.
I mean, as way to play the game on the go if you already have it on steam, and if you can't or won't shell out hundreds for a deck, it's a great decision. It's my case. Nms for switch is cheaper than a deck.
The only problem i had was when i flew to a really really large planet so it was glitchy
magical indeed
No man's Sky having no multiplayer.
LIKE IT WAS INTENDED IN THE FIRST PLACE 👍👍👍
PS5 version runs at a higher resolution than Xbox.
I loved my Switch when I had it but I'd never play NMS on it. The draw distance, frame rate and pop-in is just too well... poor
Your opinion is bad because the pop-in is not even an issue. The draw distance is perfectly fine, and the frame rate is near 30 at all times.
NMS is one of the best looking and running games on the switch.
@@slyguy8943 I hope you have fun with it then. Just it's better if you don't look at the other versions.. the difference is shocking.
@@slyguy8943antes de esta actualización sí corría a 30 fps estables la mayor parte del tiempo, ahora hay caídas más frecuentes
@@stevesgaming7475lo es, pero es para los que ahorramos para comprar una pc gamer
@slyguy8943 if you think what was shown in this video was bad you should have seen it at launch lol
The ports of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are far more umpressive in terms of actual performance. NMS studders quite a lot and gas numerous other technical issues on Switch. Hardly a miracle port.
Compare a corridor game with a procedural open-world game... 😂😂😂
Are the big waves present?
They are! Nice big choppy waves in the palm of your hand.
Yes, they look good. Normal waves look crap. I haven't seen any waves rising, but I'm sure we will.
So there arent any NPC Settlements on the Switch version? Seems like a dealbraker to me although i do want to buy it on the Switch.
Due to limitations I do believe but if they made smaller settlements they could pull it off I think
@@AnotherMagicalday how much do us Switch players will miss out on the Settlements? Does it contribute to gameplay and immersion alot? Thanks man nice vid
RIP Gamefreak excuses
I suspect that the omission of multiplayer has more to do with Nintendo themselves.
MP hits pretty bad on performance when there is a base created by someone, i'm playing on Series S and i avoid going to such community planets for that reason, same with settlements
They could just not show complex bases. I see bases just fine during expeditions.
Amazing covereage, got a sub from me :)
On Switch NMS looks like a Xbox One Port of a Xbox 360 game.
Bro give em time. They'd need to change the whole ass movement system
Lol, it's never going to be the kind of game you want it to be, though I agree that there should be more aggressive wildlife and the combat should be more engaging. It's first and foremost an exploration game.
And much more. It severely lacks good gameplay, endgame content, and replayability.
@@SeekSomethingMore I mean......does Minecraft get complained about for the same things?
@@CALAMITY0FHYRULE Minecraft doesn't sell itself the same way No man's sky does. Nor do players and reviews over hype Minecraft the way they do. No man's sky. Minecraft is a box of Lego and they tell you to go and have fun with it. No man's sky actually attempts to be a game but fails because it is poorly designed and the gameplay and difficulty do not scale with your progression through the game once you reach a certain point of progression.
I'm not exaggerating, I looked at the sales page for the switch version just recently. In my review of no man's sky, I will go over how many of the statements they make are misleading.
my respect to hello game
My god hello games are talented, the switch has 4ghz of cpu power.. Wow.
Needs online I want to play this on switch while my gf is on ps5
I wish hello games did the same for the Mac version. its as bad as the switch version right now
The switch can be a underrated power house when games are made for it, I mean the fact it can play games like Hogwarts and The Witcher should show that Nintendo if they are willing to make a hand held as bulky as the Steam Deck, I have to wonder how thier games would be yes the deck doesn’t last as long unplugged but if Nintendo were to make a more ‘powerful version’ and explain it can only last so long without a charge or even make extended external Battery packs many would buy it I think.
lol no man's sky on switch.
💙
"I've been playing this game for close to a decade."
Wait what.
It's basically eight years old at this point. Pretty close to a decade. So... yeah. ._.
i’m a sucker for like ps2 and old computer graphics and this does take me back haha
they should develop the next pokemon games, so they can be less shit
You know the switch doesn't run nms locally....
No Man's Sky does indeed run natively on Switch hardware. It is not a cloud based title if that's what you are implying.
HELLO GAMES BATER ADD NPC SETALMENTS TO SWITCH PLS
The ONLY "system" they are way behind is pcvr. Same shitty performance since day one sadly.
Sounds like 2 people talking
nice
The switch is NOT 10 years old…. It first released in March of 2017…….
@@vfins6446I think they meant the chipset is 10yrs old.
Sadly, Switch 2 will be not as powerfull as PS4 Pro.
Switch players: Switch is great, and it looks really good!
Switch: 3:41
That looks like a massive pile of diarrhea. Why people defend the switch for that pricing, I will never understand. It is absolute shite.
In handheld mode, it looks sooo much better (especially on the OLED switch), but in docked mode on big screen you're right it looks shitty (but serviceable... I guess)
and the switch version has no multiplayer or settlements
there are good looking games on switch and bad looking games on switch, you're just biased
Go back to Snoy games if you love your graphics so much
You'd puke playing indie games since you can only play AAA 4k graphics games
I agree. People are fanatical cultists for Hello Games, constantly mislead new players, and I'd like it to stop.
Most native Switch games look way better than NMS on Switch. You're left with bad gameplay, which is a problem on all platforms.
5:58 "quick little update", turns out it's not so MAJOR eh ?
The quick little update is this video in which I update my thoughts. Context is king ;)
@@NinWRTV fair point 🙄
Multiplayer without need for nso is my wish
can t even invert commands - unplayable
No, it didn't. Time for some realism. I've played NMS on Switch for over 200 hours. I installed and played 5.0 for about an hour. These are my observations:
Bad things:
- No Switch trailer for Worlds (Correct me if I'm wrong), because they're aware of how terrible the game would look in comparison.
- I fell through the terrain on my Pilgrim exo-craft multiple times (a bug that's been happening for over a year)
- There are waves in tiny pools of water not connected to the ocean or lake, because the game says "bodies of water have waves now." Sloppy design.
Good things:
- We can FINALLY shoot asteroids further away, instead of shooting them and nothing happening until we're close.
- Landing on water is nice, but should have been in-game at launch or years ago.
- Flying a ship above the water disturbs the water. Doesn't look as good as on the trailer, but it's better than no interaction like it was before.
- Waves during storms look good. Much more dramatic than when there's no storm
- The new clouds look better, but they're about 10% of what you see on the trailer.
If you're happy flying around just looking at stuff
Again, the developers have focused on more "tech p*rn," instead of focusing on things meaningful to gameplay.
It does not.
sure
