It's funny before this game came out I watched a ton Logic related tutorials because it seemed like that would be the hard part and sculpting looked easy, but now that I've played it (not a whole lot due to time or doing something else) it's actually the other way around, the logic stuff isn't that hard especially just following a tutorial step by step, but sculpting I really am struggling with, mainly because of the controls haven't got used to them yet zooming in and out is the most annoying part, but also with all the different options and button combinations to do thing, I was a bit overwhelmed, but thanks to this tutorial maybe with patience and a bit of practice I can figure it out, I see now why people make a bunch of smaller games, or have a bunch of works in progress games it's definitely got a bit of a learning curve, I wanted to make something kind of like Zelda, so maybe for practice I'll make 1 dungeon, and expand once I've learned how it all works.

Simon Leuschel at the start of the early access everybody was complaining about the motion controls. after one week nearly everybody was happy with them and is now recommending them over the stick controls. 🤷♂️
Don't worry that's the pain that every single Dreams beginner is going through, we had it in the beta and we pushed through it. Superb guide thanks a lot man! Really helped me out how you explained spray painting vs coat mode. I didn’t like that one uniform color coat mode was giving me, that spray technique gives a much more natural result. Thanks!
Alright, im inspired now! thnx so much!! I got the game a few days ago, and already cleared the tutorials ongame but i was kinda scared (?) to start creating.. Thanks so much for this!
finally! super awesome video! 👍 i just think it was a quick jump from one grassy platform to the complete landscape. is this just the one platform cloned and moved several times? or all new sculpts? (that’s the part I struggle with) maybe a time lapse of you byline this could have cleared this up...? can’t wait for the next video! 🤗
Thank you for the feedback! :) I used the platform that I created and cloned it for all the straight levels and additionally added the hills and stuff with new sculpts but it is made in the same way as I created the platform. You take a sphere in stamp mode (you can also transform it) and then you blend it in with other sculpts and also subtract with soft blend on in that way you can also make the same hills and other stuff which you want! I also have timelapses of creating stuff, feel free to watch them, you can see the techniques there as well :)
Hi, I just got Dreams a few days ago. It's more extensive than I thought. I was planning on making the concept of my real game which I'm making with Blender and Godot, with Dreams. Some things are easier in Dreams, but other things can be harder. It's a different way of aproaching things (although other things are basically the same). It's fun and frustrating at the same time. I'm still going through the tutorials in the game itself. Think I'm going to switch over to Motion Controls for sculpting, because with the controller it gets a bit wobbly. I want to make a car game. Do you know any good tutorials on how to create a decent car and roads in Dreams?
just bought the game today playing for first time and tbh im just happy i got one piece of floor on the ground in my homespace lmaooo; now watchin this to learn more.
Hey man! Your videos are great! Could you make one showing how to create moving ears (like a bunny with long ears that move as he walks/jumps). Thanks.
Love the tutorial. I’m getting better with the “random” sculptures like your grass platform technique, but when I try to make something precise like your long path, I fail miserably. How did you create the path in this vid?
Thank you for watching, glad that you enjoyed it! :) The path is just another sculpt put over it and I actually did it in the same way as the landscape but you can for example stretch a cube or a sphere very look and softblend it with other shapes, subtract again until it's clean/good enough for you!
People don’t realize how easy it is to make a game here and how hard some people hard it in the past I honestly think this is more than a game this is a business
still, you're making a game that only exists within a different game and is limited by that game's visual tools (the whole fuzzy voxel thing) Don't get me wrong, this is still amazing, but if you wanna make actual games, you can also very easily do so on your own now, compared to the past, with free tools like unity and blender. Not as easy as this, yes, but much more versatile and you can, well, actually sell your standalone game
Another great video👍 Could you do some hard surface modelling, concentrating on the grid, I find that tool super confusing and can never get my elements to line up easily 😭
Thank you for watching, glad that you enjoyed it! ^^ The path is just another sculpt put over it (you can do it in the same way as making the landscapes ^^)
What do you think is the best way to control your imp? I'm currently using the joysticks without any motion control but idk if the others would be more beneficial or not.
So I got this game yesterday and I was doing the quests in the home space and I was doing the one that you have to delete stuff and I already deleted all the stuff and can’t pass the quest someone help
Thank you so much! This was really helpful and I will be referencing it for some time. My issue with sculptures is when you switch to subtract mode. Let's say after using subtract mode you want to move a section of your sculpture... well when you move that piece it reverts back to it's original shape without the subtract elements following it. Do you have to like group those together or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you, I'm glad that the tutorial was helpful to you! Usually you can only subtract in the edit mode of one sculpture and if you subtract something it will add a shape that is invsible until you hover over it, if you move the normal sculpt in edit mode away from the invisble subtract sculpt then it will go back to normal but usually you only have to press L1 + Circle to get out of the edit mode and then you can move your sculpture as you subtracted it!
Yea i just loved when i got through the tutorials only to find this frustrating anomoly with the cutouts and mirror centers. Trying to use mirrors mode during cutouts to make a sharp point with the imp drifting and camera position changes messing it all up. Fun times :)
What controller do you use. Just bought this with my son and the camera is a bit wild. Do you use the move controllers or the pad? Great video keep them coming.
I use the Dualshock but it's also great with move controllers once you got into them, it's really just a matter of practice with the movements! I also recommend you to check out my top 10 beginner tips =)
To be honest, I might not be good enough in that area yet but it's definitely something I would like to dive into and then I can also make a tutorial to that!
@@SakkusMind in my opinion you express yourself very well, i would love to see more productive videos like this one. Hope you can help us "clueless ones" how to improve and create real cool dreams. 1+ sub.
Yes it's a Playstation exclusive and it might stay like this but I definitely agree with you, I worked with C4D before and holy Dreams is sooo much better.. so much faster & way more fun! ^^
Maybe through playstationnow but by the time that happens why not get a used ps4 ? You can probably get one for around 100 to 150 if you look good enough. And enjoy it
Can you make a tutorial on how to make interactions between objects and characters? For example whenever you play a fighting game and you push someone against a wall, it'll make an animation of you slamming their head on the wall, something like that. I would really appreciate it, I am struggling to find a tutorial or how to do it.
Hi Sakku! So I haven't bought Dreams yet, and I'm wondering, is there a thermometer system the same as Little Big Planet? (On case you don't know, the thermometer in Little Big Planet was a way to measure how big your world was getting. It would heat up when your level got too big, or had too much logic or detail.) Thanks for any response!
I haven't even gotten to making my own yet. I've just been playing single player mode and other people's levels. I want to create my own, but I don't feel I have the creativity to do one. How do people come up with ideas? I need an idea machine. That's an idea!
Maybe you are more creative than you would have thought, Dreams will surely tell you.. just go in and try to create something you like, inspiration is everywhere.. you can find it a lot on socials or the Dreamiverse itself.. or just nature :)
Awesome video! It helped me a lot! Maybe this is just me, but after I make a sculpt and do anything to it (loosen, impasto) it won't let me go back and spray paint it. The tool comes up but when I spray it nothing happens. It only takes the spray paint color before I loosen or apply impasto. I can use the coat mode, but would really like to spray paint for a more realistic look. Any idea why the sculpt won't take the spray paint color?
Usually it can only be this: Your sculpt already has a tint amount set and it's on 200% so try to tweak into your sculpture (L1 + Square) and then set the tint amount to 0.. then you should be able to spray paint again (you need to choose it in the tools when in edit mode of the sculpt) hope that helps ^^
@@SakkusMind That did work! As long as I put the sculpture down and then immediately spray paint it. I took note that if I leave the sculpt mode to increase looseness and impasto and then go back to sculpt mode to spray paint, it won't spray paint, even with the tint at 0. I'm beginning to think I just don't know what I'm doing lolol.
Question for y'all: Is it any more efficient on the system, to use the same shape, cloned, vs making one solid shape and stretching it to fit the needed size? For example, if I make one flat textured (tiled) floor, is it better performance to just make one small tile and stretch to fill, or clone that tile to fill? (I'm not asking for technique or guidance on making floors lol, I'm just technically curious about how the system optimizes as well as it does.)
It depends a lot on the style you are going for, if you want it very realistic and as high quality like as possible then it's not recommended to make huge shapes rather do smaller ones and clone them. Cloning doesn't cost graphics thermo at all unless you change the cloned shape compared to it's original form. However cloning an insane amount of objects, especially little ones can easily go into the gameplay thermo so it's all about optimizing between graphics and gameplay :)

i just think it was a quick jump from one grassy platform to the complete landscape. is this just the one platform cloned and moved several times? or all new sculpts? (that’s the part I struggle with) maybe a time lapse of you byline this could have cleared this up...?
can’t wait for the next video! 🤗
Thank you for the feedback! :)
I used the platform that I created and cloned it for all the straight levels and additionally added the hills and stuff with new sculpts but it is made in the same way as I created the platform. You take a sphere in stamp mode (you can also transform it) and then you blend it in with other sculpts and also subtract with soft blend on in that way you can also make the same hills and other stuff which you want! I also have timelapses of creating stuff, feel free to watch them, you can see the techniques there as well :)
Can I make horror games on dreams. Also is dreams free or does it cost money. I'm so hyped
Thanks for these great tips
Thank you for watching, glad it was able to help you!
Very good tutorial. Thanks
Thank you for your tutorials
Thank you for watching, glad you like them!
Thanks bro for this video I just started dreams so this helped alot
Thank you so much. This tutorial is amazing! Please make more tutorials
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it! I'll give my best to make more helpful tutorials for you guys very soon! =)
Crazy, I just watched this video 4 or 5 hrs ago and I just now randomly found the deer in the forest picture youade. I found that Increadibly ironic
Haha that's cool, I hope you liked my Moonlight Forest, I also made a behind the scenes of it here on my channel :)
I love it. Such incredible techniques.
Thanks a lot, I'm glad that the tutorial was helpful to you! :)
really helpful Tutorial, i do like your techniques
Thank you, I'm glad that the tutorial was helpful to you!
Damn this video rocks. Thank you so much.
just bought the game today playing for first time and tbh im just happy i got one piece of floor on the ground in my homespace lmaooo; now watchin this to learn more.
Enjoy your journey! :)
Hey man! Your videos are great! Could you make one showing how to create moving ears (like a bunny with long ears that move as he walks/jumps). Thanks.
I just want to create myself with the avatar gang and play with them and being a water bender
Upcoming architecture video?! Subscribed!
Actually two upcoming videos about architecture, probably next week! Thanks for your support :)
@@SakkusMind my notifications are already turned on :) cant wait to learn more
This was really great! Thanks!
Thank you, glad that you enjoyed it :)
Thank you so much for making this video.
Finally😆 I love your tutorials because they're easy to understand and slow so that beginners can follow you.
Thank you, I'm glad that you enjoy my videos and that my tutorials are helpful to you! More are coming very soon =)
@@SakkusMind Perfect😆😆
Love the tutorial. I’m getting better with the “random” sculptures like your grass platform technique, but when I try to make something precise like your long path, I fail miserably. How did you create the path in this vid?
Thank you for watching, glad that you enjoyed it! :)
The path is just another sculpt put over it and I actually did it in the same way as the landscape but you can for example stretch a cube or a sphere very look and softblend it with other shapes, subtract again until it's clean/good enough for you!
Please make more of these :)
I'll definitely do, thanks for the feedback :)
This is sick! Keep up the work.
Thank you, I'll give my best to do even better with future videos! =)
Well I'm buying dreams right now
Enjoy dreaming! =)
@@SakkusMind hard controls to get used to tho but I will bro tanks for the awesome vid!
Thank you very much I love the video
Great explained, thank you!
Happy to have helped! :)
This was a big help to me. Thanks.
Thank you for watching, glad it helped you! =)
People don’t realize how easy it is to make a game here and how hard some people hard it in the past I honestly think this is more than a game this is a business
still, you're making a game that only exists within a different game and is limited by that game's visual tools (the whole fuzzy voxel thing)
Don't get me wrong, this is still amazing, but if you wanna make actual games, you can also very easily do so on your own now, compared to the past, with free tools like unity and blender. Not as easy as this, yes, but much more versatile and you can, well, actually sell your standalone game
I want this game so much
Edit: I bought it
Thanks Sakku for the Video! It would be cool If you could make a video for character sculpting.
Thanks for watching! Also yes I'll definitely make a video about character creation soon =)
Simply dream.
Another great video👍 Could you do some hard surface modelling, concentrating on the grid, I find that tool super confusing and can never get my elements to line up easily 😭
Hey, thanks for watching my videos! I'll soon have a video up on architecture using the grid maybe that can help you :)
Thank you for the great tutorial! If I may ask - how did you make the path at 10:38?
Thank you for watching, glad that you enjoyed it! ^^
The path is just another sculpt put over it (you can do it in the same way as making the landscapes ^^)
What do you think is the best way to control your imp? I'm currently using the joysticks without any motion control but idk if the others would be more beneficial or not.
I definitely recommend to stick to the motion controls, it will be quite hard to get used to in the beginning but it will be worth it! =)
Could you do a video on how you can access other people’s tutorials online in steps
Thank you for the tutorial
Thank you for watching :)
If you don’t mind could you add a mini screen where we can see what buttons you are pressing on your controller and time stamps too if u want :)
Controller layout might be hard but time stamps are a good idea, will have that in mind :)
So I got this game yesterday and I was doing the quests in the home space and I was doing the one that you have to delete stuff and I already deleted all the stuff and can’t pass the quest someone help
Please make a video explaining counter and timer gadgets
jealous of how well you can control the camera lol
Don't worry you will get there with enough practice! ^^
Again..awesome 😃
Thank you! :)
This would be really helpful....
If I could figure out how to move my imp.
Plz man i beg you put a tutorial about puppets and how to create cloth w physics.
1+ sub.
Is this only available on PlayStation?? Any chance this going to windows 10 or ios???
Screw Blender!!!!
Owen McCafferty Media Molecule said it’s only PlayStation and won’t be going onto any other platform.
Screw Blender? Grow up
Yes it's a Playstation exclusive and it might stay like this but I definitely agree with you, I worked with C4D before and holy Dreams is sooo much better.. so much faster & way more fun! ^^
Maybe through playstationnow but by the time that happens why not get a used ps4 ? You can probably get one for around 100 to 150 if you look good enough. And enjoy it
@@SakkusMind I mean the cover says only on playstation
I love you Sakku
Uhmm.. thanks I guess! :D
Can you make a tutorial on how to make interactions between objects and characters? For example whenever you play a fighting game and you push someone against a wall, it'll make an animation of you slamming their head on the wall, something like that. I would really appreciate it, I am struggling to find a tutorial or how to do it.
I'll definitely also dive into animation and logic tutorials once I gathered a little bit more knowledge and practice with it as well!
you are one amazing man
Thank you very much!
I’ve watched all the tutorials in this game and I still don’t understand on how to create anything...
Real legends watch after 3 years
wonderful music
Glad that you like it! :)
@@SakkusMind Thanks so much! I will definitely try this later on today!
0:48 My start fresh section only has new element or scene and new dream ?? 👀 how did you unlock all that?!?!?!?
When i go into sculpture mode everything turns grey and I can't see what I'm doing, do someone know how to remove this?
go to my preferences, then dreamshaping, then set visual feedback to minimal
Question for y'all:
Is it any more efficient on the system, to use the same shape, cloned, vs making one solid shape and stretching it to fit the needed size?
I was trying not to nod off to that gorgeous piano music. lol What’s it called?
