I love how she said she tries to hit 2500 but if she’s satisfied she doesn’t over eat. She listens to her body, THANK YOUUUU 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I went so many years with pressure from my coaches to hit my numbers exactly and most of the time I was forcing myself to eat when I was already so full. This makes me feel better about listening to my body instead of stuffing myself to hit my macros exactly!

Depending on your goals and genetic makeup, putting on muscle mass sometimes requires "over eating." If your macros are in check, adding calories to your diet can have a huge impact on your ability to achieve strength oriented goals. Tia is a world class athlete who has her body and diet figured out, and her eating habits may not apply to you. Then again they might. I would venture to guess that, considering how strong she is, she has periods of strength specific training in which she consumes more calories.

    • @masondixon1718
      @masondixon1718 4 ปีที่แล้ว

And this is all considering that she is throwing cardio into the mix as well.

Here we have the fittest woman on earth eating 134g of Protein (with the protein bar i'm guessing it's gonna be around 154g).

Tia, I absolutely love your message at the end about the ultimate goal: to ultimately live a long & healthy life.
Working with primarily elderly clients, I hear this pretty often: "I don't care how I look, I just want to feel good." Isn't that something? From such a young age, most people infer that the goal is to "look good". And during that period, we lose sight of how to "feel good".
For the most part, people have a backwards mentality of how aesthetics & nutrition intertwine. If you're chasing solely aesthetics, most likely you are sacrificing some of your health. If you are chasing health, aesthetics is merely a byproduct.
Great video Tia, I absolutely love your vlogs!

Lee Pinkham I’ve worked out my entire life because health and fitness is a lifestyle for me. There are so many young people now adopting fitness for aesthetics only. Is it the advent of technology that created this? What has happened? Not everyone is like this, but there are many. Feeling good is one of the best byproducts and it becomes paramount as we get older. It’s nice to see someone at her level being insightful and balanced and sending a great message why we do this.

I love this! I am new to CrossFit and fitness in General, I have been on this whole weight loss journey, and nutrition has been a huge part of my journey. I have been doing Keto and IF, and am now being told I need to consume more protein to support muscle growth and training, which I'm now trying to do. However I feel like everyone is trying to sell me some product or some diet, or shake; I am looking for a life long change, not a crash diet! It's been really frustrating!
Seeing what you actually eat (and You're about as elite as elite gets). Gosh it's such an encouragement and relief!
You are at the very top of your game and you relatively eat like a normal sensible healthy person! no gazillion protein powder, or 5k calorie meal plan. Just good ole regular food!
Thank you so much Tia and Shane!

It was very refreshing to see an elite athlete break down their nutrition in the way you did. From getting my Bachelors in Nutrition, what was relieving to hear was your awareness of proteins and carbs. You didn't go overboard on your protein, which many do. Carbs are really your friend, and you show a healthy relationship with them. What I would like to know is regarding the vitamin supplementation. Out of curiosity and learning, did you go to a dietitian or have blood-work done to see if your body was lacking vitamins/minerals? The general public is sold on the idea that they need them without having any evidence of needing them. But as a professional athlete, it is a different story. Overall, thank you for sharing your part of your day with us, it was well done!

I especially loved the end of the video where you mentioned that you have still more calories left based on recommendations but if it would make you feel suboptimal, you don't stress it 👍
Just think, hitting your macros and calories can make you feel bad, slow digestion, bloated, and then your body does not care how much protein you feed it if it does not get digested.

Haha yeah even by her own calorie estimate it added up to 890, but for dinner she only had 705 on her chart. So it was 2361, not 2176 total for the day.

She nowhere said, she would work out 5-6 hours. She said, she is in the gym for 5-6hours. Perhaps she gives some classes or works there otherwise. Or just enjoys being there ;) Strength training burns trough a lot calories, after workout. She safely has some other nutrients, she is notvtalking about in her vids ;)

It doesn’t add up. The recommended daily calories for woman is 2000 on average, and that’s for someone who is not working out. An athlete like Tia spending 4-6 hours a day working out will need about 100-200/hr just to sustain the workout. So you’d reasonably expect someone like her to need a minimum of 2600/day and more likely 3000-3200.

That’s such a generic recommendation, it doesn’t mean much at all. I’m a shorter female and it’s recommended I eat 1700 to maintain which I don’t hit very often and have no trouble maintaining my weight

2500 just for a active menstruating female. and the CF athletes who truly eat to perform ARE consuming around 3500 calories. This is not her eating to "fuel her body" like she says about 500 times. There is no way you aren't trying to maintain a certain look on this type of restriction.

      a natural metabolize 30% ABOUT
WITH THE DOPING PROTOCOL you metabolize until 80% (some get to eat mc do and to have 8% OF BODY FAT)
1400 for for she (I save you the calculations but it takes into account its size and weight and age) ==> possibly the place (extreme cold or intense hot)
it is for the mb= for tia clair 1400
mb it is the 0 activity just for basic bodily functions (coeur , digestion , brain)
      after for a dej
      mb x 1.37 for a sedentary (+ou - 2000 FOR A 90% OF WOMEN)
      x 1.55 for actif
      1.8 for a big athletic
therefore 2650 if natural with a normal metabolism
as in addition it is strength it must have an even higher mb (marathon runner and powerlift are not at all the same thing)
tia clair most likely to exceed 2650
but with the doping it changes everything ((as indicated above)
therefore yes for a natural athlet is totally impossible
but hey it's like on a bike where the guys all have a hematocrit level that that doped people cannot exceed
      the problem of cheater

Super insightful! Would love to hear more about what types of fat you focs on eating and how you keep them relatively low, but also why they are important. I think this is a problem for a lot of people, eating too much fat and not the right kind. Thanks!

Everything in moderation 🙌🏻 I do 80/20 rule so 80% healthy whole foods 20% naughty stuff so that equates to about one snack a day which is usually chocolate for me.

Much respect to your work ethic and athleticism. A lot of people see you as a role model because of what you have achieved. Maybe just go for some olive oil and vinegar on that salad. These processed dressings are poison: Zesty Italian Dressing by Kraft: full of soybean oil and canola. Among the most inflammatory things you can put in your body: Here are the ingredients: WATER, SOYBEAN AND CANOLA OILS, VINEGAR, SUGAR, SALT, GARLIC*, GARLIC, RED BELL PEPPERS*, ONIONS*, XANTHAN GUM (THICKENER), POTASSIUM SORBATE (MAINTAINS QUALITY), LEMON JUICE CONCENTRATE, HERBS AND SPICES, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA (MAINTAINS FLAVOUR), ACETYLATED MONOGLYCERIDES (PREVENTS OIL SEPARATION). *DRIED
