In case anyone was curious... Bella Luna is closed. The closing after the problems with the Landlord mentioned near the end was permanent. They never opened things up again.

I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for decades. Everything from bartending to management. It’s a tough biz. Requires lotsa physical stamina and mental fortitude. When folks like this open a restaurant they ask themselves, ‘it’s just food, how hard can it be?’

I feel the SAME WAY, and I retired after 42 years in restaurants - everything from prep, dishes, waitress, cashier, saute, etc .., so I hear ya and I agree with you wholeheartedly!
I'll never step into another restaurant kitchen again.
I'm convinced most jobs are difficult if you do it well and care about results. This is coming from an IT pro of 25 years, knowing a family member top-tier welder in his industry for 40 years, and having other family in the restaurant/bakery industry, as well as industrial development and production, lawyers, NDT technicians, electrical, and paper mill/aggregates industry. If you don't want to work, any job can become a complacent chore. It takes heart and soul to keep it up day after day. One thing my grandfather told me: do it nice, or do it twice. If you do it thrice, you've failed already.
Restaurant is one of the hardest jobs ever. Nothing easy, hardly any profit.

The worst thing about moldy food is that if you have any remotely decent ventilation in there, that’s all it needs for the spores to spread like wildfire! I wouldn’t trust anything in that walk-in to not have any mold on it to some degree. 🤢🤮

@@adriantowe278i meán its probably ok in your home where you find one moldy peach and you wash the other 4 peaches or youve got a moldy yoghurt in the firdge and everything else in the fridge is visible and has a lid on it. Like 2 open yoghurt beside each other one is moldy you will probably eat the other immediately or throw it away or use it in a cooked sauce that day. But in a restaurant you've got 500 vegetables to wash ...I spray hydrogen peroxide food grade on my veg and some fruit and wipe my fridge out with it . Its great stuff cos if there is some invisible mold of bacteria when you spray it it starts to froth! So you know theres something bad on that spot. Its safe so long as you wash it off and dry the veg they stay good longer. If thats any use to anyone.

Probably because they are recent ancestors who lived in Italy. (1900-1930’s). The mom said she grew up in Sicely. She is italian

@@pauljordan4452 yes 1/2 of my grandparents were born in Sicely the other half near Cosenza. My parents were born in America but raised by Italians. I was born in America but raised by parents who were raised Italian. I was pointing out this out to explain why “ being Italian” is the same as being “ Italian American”. Our families have different histories from those that lived in the USA to the turn of the century and why we wear or heritage on our sleeve. Someone commented that the family from the show was “too” Italian. That’s why I pointed out that if mom was born in Sicely, they are Italian.

The owners are in absolute denial about their food and having a restaurant with that kind of naivety is the gateway to failure.
In any independent restaurant, food quality is paramount to survival. Having no knowledge about food standards will have your restaurant closed much faster.
I mean I thought anyone who opens a resteraunt has to do a lot of safety stuff. Like you have to test every single fridge every single day more than once a day even in a deli or chip shop here in ireland. Its a lot of work. If you didn't have your records an inspector would warn you and then if you do that a few times you get shut down. I reported a place that was disgusting and a week or less later it was closed down.

The landlord wants the building back now that it no longer looks like a funeral home .id put it bk exactly how it was .bc he definitely didn't want the bald prior to the renovations ‼️
It makes no difference to the landlord. Every restaurant I've seen open starts with a build out to the owners specs, the landlord normally does not pay for any of it, therefore it doesn't matter to him. Commercial space is expensive if it's nice or crappy.
Realistically they probably just ran out of money to pay rent.
It's his fault not mine. It's her fault not mine. Can ANYONE take responsibility for ANYTHING? I'm so very glad that I live way too far away to even THINK about going to this place. Thank God for small favors!

Edit: Her conduct when facing her former customers is the perfect example. I would wager that she's got the consequences of "Daddy's/Mommy's little princess" upbringing and never had to face reality until it was far too late.

Yep. A boss has to delegate certain aspects to trained individuals. But you still have to check on then from time to time. A simple one a couple weeks check of the storage was already enough to figure out that shit wasn't done right.

It’s terrible that people decide to put themselves in this position. When you can significantly improve your chances by educating yourself, not being arrogant, taking responsibility, being realistic, and hearing & considering all compliments and criticisms. How can you possibly be successful if you don’t know what works and what doesn’t?
