Dude, it's long well known that this is the most scripted episode of all. They made it all look like she's cheating, while actually, she isn't in the restaurant BECAUSE THEY HAVE KIDS, and she takes care of them, but they never mention that.

Out of all the episodes of KN I found that this is the most depressing.
Lisa clearly hates her husband - or at the very least is cheating on him.
He's doing all he can to take the blame for everything and do well by her and the resteraunt, giving his all to both and being handed shit in return.

For anyone wondering what happened after this episode, Barefoot Bob's closed in December 2016 and no reason was given as to why they closed. They dropped a lot of Gordon Ramsay's suggestions and changes after he left. Despite this, the restaurant still lasted for more than four years after the Kitchen Nightmares makeover. Marc and Lisa are still married as of September 2022.

Curious what your sources are, I'm assuming social media accounts and such in addition to if Ramsey did a follow up on this restaurant. I would think that there would be some sort of clue through social media to see why the restaurant closed if you didn't look there

As someone who grew up south of Boston, I can't understand how they didn't realize business would be seasonal...
I didnt wven grow up their but my first thought before opening a business would be to check during every season and make sure business is good pretty amateur entrepreneur thinking.
Seasonal businesses exist in every part of the world. The “good” ones are structured to sell cheap stuff by the truckload, hiring inexperienced staff, and closing when the season ends. A successful year round business can’t rely on bullshit like the tiki theme. That gets old fast. A SMALL selection of EXCELLENT dishes is all you need. Easier to buy and to prepare, easier to keep fresh, better to eat. Just keep it simple.
Still find it funny how the wife still is mad on how the food is bad when she is the one never in the restaurant 😂

@@jacquelinerobinson7844It's scripted, Gordon even admitted in an interview almost none of the food he's eaten at any of these restaurants was that bad. I mean, he's almost never once said that any of the hundreds of dishes he's tried during the almost 10 years of the show has been even remotely edible, which is impossible. He's told to say everything's bad even when it's not. If the food were that horrible no one would be able to eat it and there'd be no customers, yet all the restaurants have had customers coming regularly for many years.

Restaurant business is such a difficult business. I love to cook, but if I had opened a restaurant and Chef Ramsay visited it, it would be a complete disaster, I am sure. But I am grateful to Chef Ramsay for advice on how to avoid the most obvious pitfalls in my own humble kitchen and how to do more with less! And, of course, on how to deal with arrogance with an equally arrogant but good sense of humour. Thank you, Sir!

For all the people who stick around their partners when you've either lost interest or are cheating on them, why stick around? Why waste that person's time? You wouldn't wish that upon yourself but do it to someone you once loved. It's illogical.

it can be things like lack of security.
family issues like with children having parents live apart can be tough for them.
sometimes you're married for so long that you don't know how to live without them.
sometimes even the economy can be so bad that you can't afford to live on your own.
sometimes it's fear to take that step and getting a divorce and the possible fallout that can come from it. espeically if messy or a result of an affair.
sometimes it can be just a small glimmer of hope that the marriage will work out in the end.
I do agree you shouldn't be afraid to walk away from a relationship, but from my own experiences, it is tough to do that sometimes, even in a shitty relationship or friendship and it gets harder to do so the more time has past.

I live in molalla Oregon and used to travel to the coast once a year (its pretty close) and everyone got sick every time. Just because you are next to fresh food doesn't mean your food will be fresh. More likely three weeks old, but one mile from the ocean.

My Veteran Husband and myself ran restaurants together. The resturants were run with Military precision! Husband also trained under a World Class Chef. We always had prestine kitchen/walk ins and freezers. I cannot believe all the Nightmares Chef Ramsay sees in trying to help the helpless! Chef Ramsay, you have the patience of a Saint to deal with simpletons whom think they know how to run a Proper Restaurant with absolutely no experience! A wonder they've haven't KILLED PEOPLE!!!

Than you. There are so many restaurants now in business, whom only have so-called cooks, who could literally kill someone. Here, in the Maine, we've tried many and have found only one which passes muster. If wants fried food , there too one must be careful.

I love seafood. Seeing how bad this food is in the beginning causes me physical pain. Fried scallops are amazing when they're cooked right. And the lobster roll is such a soggy mess, it turns my stomach.

In New England too much lobster in a lobster roll is not an issue. It's a badge of honor. You need to charge appropriately for it and people will pay it if it's huge.
