10:20, this moment really hit different, especially when Ramsay said "you're trying to lecture me". People tend to forget that Gordon is far from an average chef. A normal chef is someone who enrols in a culinary apprenticeship for 2-4 years and afterwards starts working. Gordon however, has dedicated his entire life to cooking, gone to dozens of countries and even more villages solely to improve as a chef.
I really appreciate that Gordon always refers to the Dr. Morris by doctor just like how we refer to Gordon by chef, just seems so respectful to refer to a person by their title and it just warmed my heart to see Gordon always exercising that respect
You can tell Gordon very much admired her accomplishments and had great respect for her, imo, he was kinda holding back a bit on the criticism and emphasizing it more to her that it wasn't a personal attack. She just needed a little "coaching" with how to run a restaurant.
I feel this woman when all your life its always been just you you and you. It gens to apoint where you dont know how to ask for help. Trying to be strong for everybody and yourself. Its hard.
Dr Phil is not even a licensed psychologist and it has been shown many times that he actually does more damage to the person than helping them. He uses mentally ill or unstable people and exploits them on national tv for entertainment and money.

She is dominating other people and dont listen to truth...... brrrrr. But so easy to play victim card and cry. But its a tactical typical female privilege.
„I’m not afraid of Chef Ramsay“ shows immediately that she’s got the wrong attitude. She viewed him as enemy right from the start, instead of help and a friend.
Goodness, if you go read her CSU alumni page you can see just the vast amount that she's achieved in her life. Even putting the restaurant aside she'd achieved more in her first 30 years of life than many will achieve in their entire life. And yet she was still so lacking in self confidence and so afraid of failure. It really goes to show how important those formative years are that a person such as Dr Morris could still be facing that negative impact of losing her mother young so many years later. I hope she continues to do well in life, and I hope Keone has found his passion in life also.
Yep. Compared with the incompetent sociopaths we usually see on RKN, this woman is an incredible human being, whose achievements few of us could ever hope to match. And maybe fear of failure is one of the things that drives people who operate at the highest level? Having said that, he's being deliberately picky when he criticises his rice for looking like a breast implant. That neat dome is pretty much how every major restaurant serves rice. I think it's called a timbale?
after all the horrible people i've seen among the owners on the KN, this episode is really heartwarming. Not without it's trauma and the owner stuck in her mistakes, but she really turned out to be a good at heart person and actually loving her son, too. So I'm really happy for them in the end, without the usual sad feel that this all will just come back to what it started as, as soon as Ramsay's team sets their foot out the door.
Yes, they do. Many of my friends from Jamaica work, hunt, and cook. Thats the beauty of not being surrounded by constant internet buzzing. It's just not in their culture to be "chronically online" or whatever the current phrase is for internet addiction.
All roasts aside this is one of my favorite episodes of kitchen nightmares. She may have been stubborn at first but that is because she's not used to asking for help but she really came around in the end. You gotta respect her, she sacrificed a lot for her son and that came from a woman without a mother.
I cried many times during this episode. Chief Ramsey wasn't only a helper and a saver, but he became a psychologist doctor to ease the owner's wounds and bad memories. That's stopping her from looking onto the reality instead of being held into her old miserable childhood history. Thanx to you chief Ramsey from your fans in Saudi Arabia . We love you.
Most of the owners aren't looking for help, they're looking for validation from someone famous in the culinary world, like Ramsay. They want to pin the blame for their failure on either the employees or the community, so being called out makes them defensive.
Doctor, Olympian and damn restaurant owner, JESUS no wounder she behaves as a perfectionist. Accomplished so much. Here I am happy with my master's certificate lol
Weirdly, I can kind of sympathize with the doctor. Imagine if you spend your whole life dragging yourself onward, achieving goal after goal by just pulling through. It is really hard to make that change towards putting other peoples judgement above your own. It is one thing to be in denial out of arrogance, but a completely different affair when it is because all you had was you through all your life. I can also understand the bitterness of her son, though. Imagine being raised by a person that knows nothing but individual perseverance and dedication. You watch the person you love and admire the most run herself down into a corner without realizing it and unable to be helped. The frustration must be colossal.
To be honest I don't think you should have to say "weirdly". Everyone has their own lives, ambitions and stories. Nobody is without quirks or flaws. I love watching Gordon Ramsay videos, but I find his stans jump on anyone in these shows who doesn't automatically worship him. You have to understand these are people at the end of their tether, who've put their all into something (generally - others are just awful, but she seems really genuine).
@@itsashton3409 I do though, since in this episode, she had to fill the role of the antagonist to Gordon and got heavily molded into it. Especially in the US version of Kitchen Nightmares, the emphasis on drama and conflict is much more prevelant than in the british version. Most of Gordons outbursts (if not all of them) are played up for the show to make it more interesting. He always has an antagonist to fight, too, since it creates excitement and draws the viewer in more effectively. Also, production heavily cuts and rearranges dialog in the show, especially in this episode. Nowhere is this made more obvious than when Gordon meets Madame at the beginniong of the episode. When she introduces herself to him, the "doctor morris" is edited in so badly, that you can hear thar the soundclip used is borrowed from one of the servers. She is made up to be hard relate, since noone wants to identifywith a micro-managing crazywoman. I totally get what you mean, though. I mostly whatch the US series to find those flaws in sound design, to be honest.
@@Abfallkannibale She's narcissistic and manipulative the son was only trying to help her yet in her "breakdown" she pinned blame on him. Boo hoo. Horrible woman.
Yeah, Gordon tells her what’s wrong with the rice, and the thing she wants to immediately focus on is the unease/hurt she is feeling. Is this how you communicate? Gordon asks her why is she stubborn, and gets no answer. Gordon asks her why is she in denial, and gets no answer. Ever try to work things out with a person like this? It’s impossible, because nothing gets done and nothing goes forward, because these people will endlessly twist everything said as an attack on their person, dancing around the actual subject until the one bringing up issues just gives up out of frustration.

This episode is home to my favourite Ramsay quote from all the series. "Um Gordon if you continue like that Jesus Christ actually going to appear." "I hope so, because I think that's what's needed right now." xD
son: *patiently waits for gordon to finish talking to bring up his agreement* mom: "shut up, he's talking" mom, two minutes later: *literally talking over gordon*

I also love a comment from another customer at Zeke's restaurant, who waited a couple hours for his seafood..."it's taking so long for our food, because I think they have to catch the shrimp first!", lol
Wonderful to see dr morris turn around, accept the constructive criticism and loose the stress she was under.. a really inspiring woman. I hope she and her son build a successful restaurant. They deserve it
I think the Doctor is scared to fail but really she's accomplished so much. I think her son genuinely wants to help and he believes he can do a good job in the process and make it good for everyone at the same time.xx
Fun Fact- Dr.Morris participated in the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics, earning fourth place in the 200-meter race in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and a gold medal in the 1966 Caribbean Games. She's currently working toward completion of a law degree at Abraham Lincoln Law School although I don't have an update on whether she has obtained the degree yet or not
She is a really good person, but the way she grew up she always needed to be tough and hard headed to get somewhere. So much so that it took it to the level she always uses it, even when she is wrong. Glad she took the help, shes a great person
When she said her mother died when she was at such a young age . That really made me understand how rough it must have been for her , and she still accomplished so much and is a great mother as well ! Wow such an impressive woman ❤
Yeah when you’ve been independent for so long it’s difficult to let others help you. It feels like they are taking your power but they aren’t and I had to learn that
I cannot work for a micromanager. The biggest compliment my boss ever gave me was "you got this" as she was leaving. Trust that your employees know what they're doing.
I think the son got unfair criticism from Gordon, if what we saw was how often his mother interrupted and discredited him on camera, I can't imagine what he had to put up with for the 3 years before this.
9:16 "I'm not afraid of Chef Ramsay, even if he had horns I wouldn't be afraid of him" Dunno about the horns but he has years of experience and he is an absolute savage when it comes to criticize people
First three rules I learned as an assistant of a very good restaurant manager was: 1. Look after your staff, make sure they have everything to do their job. 2. Look after the hygenic standards, 3. Don't drop your food standards for any stupid reason. That the stuff you work with. It's like saying to a carpenter to built the foundational parts of a house out of low class wood.
It really is difficult to watch someone as intelligent and as brilliant as Dr. Morris make so many mistakes, but her intelligence is the reason why changes were embraced so promptly and with little reluctance.

We all hope for that, but sadly ramsay himself has said it won't as, after all the time and effort and money he was putting in to these places, too many of them were reverting back to their old ways or closing down. Which is fair enough considering what he does for these places, it must be tough seeing a big percentage of them fail
I love how Keone just touched his mum's shoulder, completely ignoring her nonsense excuse about the impossibility of cooking Jamaican food fresh every day. Great response lol
It's just amazing how Gordon can flip from a swearing screaming boss into a highly effective personal, work, and relationship therapist when it's required.

A normal chef is someone who enrols in a culinary apprenticeship for 2-4 years and afterwards starts working. Gordon however, has dedicated his entire life to cooking, gone to dozens of countries and even more villages solely to improve as a chef.
He has a unnatural palette, like super-human like. That helps a bit, too.

She is so pretty and beautiful, black women are so gorgeous.
You can tell Gordon very much admired her accomplishments and had great respect for her, imo, he was kinda holding back a bit on the criticism and emphasizing it more to her that it wasn't a personal attack. She just needed a little "coaching" with how to run a restaurant.

That neat dome is pretty much how every major restaurant serves rice. after all the horrible people i've seen among the owners on the KN, this episode is really heartwarming.
