Why would you choose the stalwart over the other machine gun SUpport weapons though? I can see taking the MG over the HMG, for reload speed, but the stalwart is just worse than the reg MG i thought? I picked one up yesterday and was really underwhelmed by it's damage and armour pen. I don't usually take a gun specifically for dealing with unarmored targets.

@@AaronFrederick843 250 round magazine/belt, can reload while moving, faster reload speed, less drag when aiming, higher fire rate and last but not least pairs perfectly with the crossbow or any other slow but hard hitting weapons.
@@AaronFrederick843because you can trade that support and primary slot, thermite grenades eat tank armoured units, your primary can be optimized to take groups of tightly packed units like the eruptor or a quickly dispatch high priority targets like the CS diligence, your secondary is your auxiliary slot to get whatever you want I personally always use the senator to deal with hulks or chargers...
I've seen a lot of people also claim that the MG-43 Machinegun is weak. I've never got that, it clears anything you'd want it to clear and the stationary reload is hardly an issue if you have even decent game sense to get out of danger before reloading. Very underrated.
finally, someone gets it!!! MG-43 is one of the best support weapon in the game, it absolutely clears the medium chaf easily. use a supply pack, put it on 900rpm, its basically a primary that does very well at mob clearing. did a full clear solo no death super helldive with it against the bots, and it did a great job clearing out mediums. some divers cannot use anything that isnt a quasar cannon, railgun, auto cannon or recoiless, which is sad.
@theFORZA66 I find the MG works well against everything, and the medium penetration is better than the Stalwart the way I use it (which is to say, not having to bother with weak spots for many enemy types).

Im just saying that if we were to make a tier list, mg would be like b tier for bots and bugs while it would be an easy s tier for squids. In fact i agree with thicc and i would say its probably the best support weapon for squids
They could do weaker version or stalwart and limit rpm to 600 and magazine 150. I would like more primary guns with bigger magazine capacity, would open up more build options. Like we have Flam-66 Torcher & Flam-40 Flamethrower
i think this video really just serves as a love letter to the medium MG lol. everything you said about the stalwart is also relatively true for the MG aside from the obvious differences like ammo capacity and the stationary reload. but every strength of the stalwart, every use case for it in this video, is even more true for the medium MG. i personally think the MG is the most underrated support weapon because its so well rounded but since its the first one you get, most people move on after they unlock other stuff
Stalwart's been my favorite weapon since around the Meridia super colony era. I've been doing everything I could with the rest of the loadout to cover its weaknesses since then. The thermite buff in the 60 day plan was the tipping point where this thing became straight up great. I've been trying to Stalwart pill as many people as I can, and this video will help with that. Edit: I bring the crossbow with me on Bile seeds, even if I swap to MMG. It deals with spewers plenty well.
I recently tried out the stalwart on bugs after not using it for a while, and had a really good time pairing it with the torcher, and i can definitely say it is underrated, even if it's still not my perfered support weapon.
Some level 15 ran stawlwart on diff 7 bots(im lvl 110) i didnt have a support weapon i figured id use one of theirs, long story short the low levels all died, we ran out of reinforcementss, i was running back to help the last one alive before he died, he had the stalwart and i grabed it and solo cleared a strat jammer thanks to the high rpm and ammo supply. When you need a fast save, stalwart is there.
Finally someone that brings attention to the power of melee, even without peak physique or melee weapons the amount of stagger and damage it does is extremely useful, bashing terminid skulls has saved me SO many times its crazy to see people not take advantage of it
It's so good I'm surprised I don't see it more. Has the most magazines, does great damage, barely any recoil, and you can run while reloading. It's so good
I am a huge stalwart fan with the crossbow for distance and closing holes, finishing fabricators, and drop ships. Oh, the scorcher or 6 shoter for the pistol slot. Cheers
I absolutely agree. I've had conversations with my friends in game when they mock me bringing the stalwart. I drop it for them, tell them to crank it to max rpm and for them to report back with their results
Yes it has its popularity but if you look under this video there's still a number of people saying is not good enough. Even though I've been maining it the last week or two on stream, and I usually do a solo run or two at the start
I love my MG-47 too much to move down to the stalwart despite the fantastic utility the latter has, but I loved this video anyway. The more videos showing how to make any strategem work, the better.
All I do is Stalwart(not entirely true lol). Just got a 1700+ deathless on Illuminates using it, was a blast. Also, 6 million shots fired in career stats thanks to mostly the Stalwart 🎉
Stalwart has been my most used 'primary' since launched. Loved it through thicc and thiccer. Changing ROF based on range really helps, ammo is usually always around. Remember the Creek!
My favorite way to use the Stalwart is called “Spray and Pray”. Set it to max fire rate, run a supply pack, and become a one man army. While your teammates do the objectives, stand your ground and hold down that trigger. Bring thermites for heavies.
same here, Already using stalwart as main weapon and my primary as being a killer weapon (taking down enemy that hard to kill). Most people think its kinda okayish on lower level but they didnt know that stalwart is great at cutting down mob unit and you can agro for your teammate to kill the heavy unit if your stratagem railgun and 500KG of democracy on cooldown (Bile titan, strider, harvester. Mostly I use 2 combo jet pack and stalwart for quick agro and manuver since its fun flying around juke the special unit for your team to take it down)
I've been running stalwart as a primary weapon with explosive crossbow, senator, and stun grenades. OR stalwart, eruptor, desert eagle, stun but with siege ready armor to help the eruptor
I’ve been running a pretty good kreigsman build; white faced gas helmet, trench coat with wires that came out (50% resist status effects), primary flame thrower, grenade pistol, gas grenades, auto cannon walker, support machine gun, Jetpack and auto cannon turret.
Lvl 140 HD 1/2 veteran here. This is one of my go-to weapons for lvl 4 and bellow bug missions, and sometimes lvl 7+ bug missions, though it depends on the planet! Some planets/levels consistently throw a Lot of spam enemies at you, and this is a great weapon to deal with it. The ability to move while reloading is crucial. I don’t use it against bots because I find there are better options, as I’m usually impeded by armor, not numbers, and against the illuminate I find there to be better options for dealing with the spam, so my weapons tend to focus on the stronger targets. Great weapon though, in specific circumstances.
I love the stalwart for crowd control as a team. I'm good with anti tank but there are way better players than me so I normally focus on crowd control. It makes me happy that I can cover my team with a hail of bullets.
I have a suggestion! Try peak physique medium armor with stun lance for a answer for chargers 6 leg stabs and they're dead. Just be sure to isolate them first and that will free up your grenade slot from thermites to return to the godly gas. And as for bile titans, I find that the 500kg can be inconsistent sometimes so I bring strafing run instead, as it's good for impalers, biles and spores/shrieker nests.
Stalwart is the Support Weapon embodiment of Volume Of Fire, which is probably my favorite approach to combat in HD2, all things considered. While I would still prefer it as the ultimate close range light pen primary, it being a support weapon does work in the context of more specialized loadouts. Edit - That trick with the Stalwart's recoil vs Devastators works with a lot of weapons. It's one of the ways I make my LibPen - been maining that since launch - laser beam heads. Very satisfying.
Ultimate Stalwart bug loadout IMO - Stalwart Lmg - Supply Pack - 500kg Eagle - Orbital Rail Cannon - SR-24 Street Scout armor - Explosive Crossbow - P-113 Verdict or Senator Revolver - Toxic Gas Grenades Armor gives you an extra stalwart mag plus more crossbow ammo and a reload buff. Use gas grenades for area denial over bug holes and choke points. Stalwart is for chaff clearing, crossbow is for med armor enemies and sometimes chargers. Use 500kg and rail cannon to destroy large groups, armored enemies, and bug holes. Sidearm is to fall back on when things run dry. If you’ve got teammates equipped to take out the heavies this loadout will let you clear hundreds of enemies. I regularly get 600-700 kills on Super HellDive.
I use it like a real world machine gun with side to side sweeps on hords, kills everything small and then you are left with only a few heavy or medium enemies that are easy to take soen when all there suport is gone.
recently did a full clear solo no death run with the stalwart on super helldive against the bots. its def viable, tho, i can see why many bot players wouldnt pick it over the auto cannon or recoiless. still a solid weapon tho once you learn the weakpoints of chaf-up-to-medium. the stalwart is mostly a knowledge check & vibe check. if you don't know weakpoints or recoil patterns, you may struggle, but if you know weakpoints or recoil patterns, you will do fine. divers should also pair it with other weapons and grenades that can cover its flaws. so thermites is a must, senator or verdict and purifier or crossbow.
I find it curious we even DISCUSS possible equipment choices. The stun lance exists! It is the best version of the machine gun - despite being a stick.
@EternalDawn flamethrower has really high peak dps, most people just don't realize it Torcher still good, Flamethrower is just definitely worth the back slot
it is but it isnt. ive used it a bit and honestly, both weapons fill the same role. theyre both close range chaff clearing weapons, obvi with the stalwart having a bit more range. if youre gonna run the stalwart, best to pair it with a utility primary like the xbow or eruptor, or something with stagger like the cookout or blitzer
I bring Stalwart on bugs all the time, even on bile spewer missions it's fantastic. Since I'm using the Stalwart as my primary, it lets me bring a hard-hitting utility weapon like the crossbow that wrecks bile spewers, then I use stratagems for titans and thermite for chargers. EZPZ.
Nice video. Like your channel. I play bugs exclusively. Stalward can work on Super Helldive, but it's not ideal. The point is, it doesn't "outgun" primaries vs many bug enemy types. And in a team, being this type of player that has to run around and bait chargers, bait titans, hit commanders in the head isn't ideal. You want a weapon that kills its selected target NOW ! Chargers, Stinky Chargers, Titans and impailers. These targets need to be taken down quick. The stalwart creates 3 problems here. One is the inability to kill from the front, from a distance. Second is it takes up a slot of another weapon. Third is you spend a lot of ammo with this thing to begin with, so the solution would be using a supply pack...taking up another slot. And it forces this run and gun style which might be fun, but creates further problem for your team. They will be reluctant to use stratagems to avoid hitting you. They will be unable to help you. This weapon is a good weapon, and I agree it Is underrated. But it simply doesn't cut it for bugs on Helldive. This is my opinion. Much love from me, keep it up.❤
I didn't even need to watch this video to know that the stalwart would be super Opie as a primary but I still do want some sort of lmg primary and I think something as a description of being more compact lighter weight but more complicated to reload so you have to use the mg 43 reload animation and it only uses 100 round belts would work perfectly
To be honest, after laser cannon , I don’t see the point in medium and light machine guns... that they slightly stop small and medium-sized enemies is meaningless considering the fact that their task is to kill these small and medium-sized enemies almost instantly ... I think... I think machine guns are just for classic players, if you take away energy weapons, electricity/gas/fire, then people really differ from the other three sides of the resistance by the presence of bullets and bombs
As a technology diver myself I must agree. Only thing laser struggles with now is cooling and bile titan heads. Catching things on fire really helps the laser cannon above machine guns.
I am so down for bringing less AT. Primaries really can handle armor now, so weapons like the stalwart can really shine. Plus, it's fun as hell. FOR DEMOCRACYYYYYY.
I LOVE the Stalwert on Bugs. Enjoy it on squids but usually end up going with HMG to deal with the harvesters to cover my team from those. I've never had much luck doing precise shots with light pen weapons on bots. MG is my go to
I was 100 percent sleeping on it until i took it thinking it was the 43 on bugs. Loved the mobility n strafing run n 120 takes care of the big baddies for me
I hadn't thought about it before, but the rocket striders are arguably more vulnerable than the normal striders, right? Being able to blow up their rockets lets any weapon no matter the penetration to destroy them from the front.
You didn’t really sell me on The Bots. If anything you’ve convinced me to take the senator and thermite nads against Bots. You demonstrated that the Bots have a lot of units that the Stalwart cannot deal with. Making Senator and Thermite a must rather than simply supporting.

Specifically for bots, and a biased opinion because my fav weapon - the laser cannon outclasses stalwart. Beam heads for small and medium, sets enemies on fire, case for it being the best against gunships, can kill hulks on its own, tanks if you can hit behind them, AA and mortar emplacements from afar if you have line of sight, factory strider chin guns quickly and weak points (a bit slower), INFINITE AMMO! And makes jet pack/back pack small enemies explode immediately.
Underrated? I love it! since the day i started playing (0_0 back on the creek) The best part about this video is, he basically described my playstyle against the squids to a T.
I can't imagine using a standard heavy machine gun vs bots, that time you're forced to crouch down is such a waste that you don't even recover like with the recoilless or autocannon
Best illuminte loadout, IMHO: Grenadier/Acclimated light armors Sta11, verdict (good agains overseers/watchers), gas grenade Guard dog(for insurance) Machinegun (optional on diff 6 and lower, map is full of them. Get a tesla tower instead.) 120mm barrage. Walking barrage. have used this loadout from diff 3 to 10. It's wonderful *Bonus round* BOTS: Grenadier/Unflinching DCS, Verdict, Thermite RR, AC turret 120+walking Bugs: Siege-ready/Acclimated Cookout, GP(if using thermite)/Verdict(if using gas grenades), Thermite/gas RR Napalm strike (orbital) 120mm 500kg
For bug i usually run mg43 because of the risk of bile spewers.. they are so deadly, and at higher levels its harder without medium pen, and higher stalker amounts.
They're only on nuke missions, extract oil , and the sssd. Also a blitz of they already showed up in the mission set. You are free to use it on all other types
In my opinion every weapon can be used in the current state. Some may struggle with certain enemies. I personally would not use a Flamethrower against a Melee-Hulk, but yeah. If it works for you, it works. I've seen random players doing some crazy stuff with some weapons I personally do not prefer to use.
Stalwart is great against bugs. If you have plenty of other stuff for the medium and heavies. Which is easy with a primary and secondary weapons. And stratagem options. And grenades.
Stalwart on low RPM is the ammo cache we all could do with. The Stalwart on high RPM is the fun button we all deserve. Supply Pack makes the dream joyous. This combo helped me save so many Helldivers from Berserker rushes before the 60-day plan, and is welcome on any front. Stand tall, @thiccfila , for you sing for an unsung hero of the battlefield. 🔥😎

I've been rocking Stalwart, crossbow, and thermite for every faction ever since the illuminates showed up. This loadout deals with everything.
I run it regularly, it being reloadable on the move have saved my bacon numerous times.

Stalwart resupply pack and max rpm is my favorite way to play against bugs it’s so fun and until they add the mini gun imma keep running this
After the ADS scope fix last patch the stalwart feels even better.

And as for bile titans, I find that the 500kg can be inconsistent sometimes so I bring strafing run instead, as it's good for impalers, biles and spores/shrieker nests.

Stalwart is my favorite gun against bugs and squids, gonna have to try it against bots now!

It's underestimated even still. Especially on bots
Stalwart is the Support Weapon embodiment of Volume Of Fire, which is probably my favorite approach to combat in HD2, all things considered. While I would still prefer it as the ultimate close range light pen primary, it being a support weapon does work in the context of more specialized loadouts.
Edit - That trick with the Stalwart's recoil vs Devastators works with a lot of weapons. It's one of the ways I make my LibPen - been maining that since launch - laser beam heads. Very satisfying.

- Toxic Gas Grenades
Armor gives you an extra stalwart mag plus more crossbow ammo and a reload buff. Use gas grenades for area denial over bug holes and choke points. Stalwart is for chaff clearing, crossbow is for med armor enemies and sometimes chargers. Use 500kg and rail cannon to destroy large groups, armored enemies, and bug holes. Sidearm is to fall back on when things run dry.
If you’ve got teammates equipped to take out the heavies this loadout will let you clear hundreds of enemies. I regularly get 600-700 kills on Super HellDive.
I use it like a real world machine gun with side to side sweeps on hords, kills everything small and then you are left with only a few heavy or medium enemies that are easy to take soen when all there suport is gone.
recently did a full clear solo no death run with the stalwart on super helldive against the bots. its def viable, tho, i can see why many bot players wouldnt pick it over the auto cannon or recoiless.
still a solid weapon tho once you learn the weakpoints of chaf-up-to-medium. the stalwart is mostly a knowledge check & vibe check. if you don't know weakpoints or recoil patterns, you may struggle, but if you know weakpoints or recoil patterns, you will do fine. divers should also pair it with other weapons and grenades that can cover its flaws. so thermites is a must, senator or verdict and purifier or crossbow.
I find it curious we even DISCUSS possible equipment choices. The stun lance exists! It is the best version of the machine gun - despite being a stick.

Stallwart and the primary weapon flamethrower sounds like a fun combination
it is but it isnt. ive used it a bit and honestly, both weapons fill the same role. theyre both close range chaff clearing weapons, obvi with the stalwart having a bit more range. if youre gonna run the stalwart, best to pair it with a utility primary like the xbow or eruptor, or something with stagger like the cookout or blitzer
I bring Stalwart on bugs all the time, even on bile spewer missions it's fantastic. Since I'm using the Stalwart as my primary, it lets me bring a hard-hitting utility weapon like the crossbow that wrecks bile spewers, then I use stratagems for titans and thermite for chargers. EZPZ.

I play bugs exclusively. Stalward can work on Super Helldive, but it's not ideal.
The point is, it doesn't "outgun" primaries vs many bug enemy types.
And in a team, being this type of player that has to run around and bait chargers, bait titans, hit commanders in the head isn't ideal.
You want a weapon that kills its selected target NOW !
Chargers, Stinky Chargers, Titans and impailers.
These targets need to be taken down quick. The stalwart creates 3 problems here.
One is the inability to kill from the front, from a distance.
Second is it takes up a slot of another weapon.
Third is you spend a lot of ammo with this thing to begin with, so the solution would be using a supply pack...taking up another slot.
And it forces this run and gun style which might be fun, but creates further problem for your team. They will be reluctant to use stratagems to avoid hitting you. They will be unable to help you.
This weapon is a good weapon, and I agree it Is underrated. But it simply doesn't cut it for bugs on Helldive.

Funny enough, bringing the Stalwart to cover mob clears while having an explosive Primary like Eruptor or Crossbow is an ideal load out to have.
I didn't even need to watch this video to know that the stalwart would be super Opie as a primary but I still do want some sort of lmg primary and I think something as a description of being more compact lighter weight but more complicated to reload so you have to use the mg 43 reload animation and it only uses 100 round belts would work perfectly
I use my Stalwart build on Bile Spewer missions no problem, I just switch to my xbow for them
To be honest, after laser cannon , I don’t see the point in medium and light machine guns... that they slightly stop small and medium-sized enemies is meaningless considering the fact that their task is to kill these small and medium-sized enemies almost instantly ... I think... I think machine guns are just for classic players, if you take away energy weapons, electricity/gas/fire, then people really differ from the other three sides of the resistance by the presence of bullets and bombs
As a technology diver myself I must agree. Only thing laser struggles with now is cooling and bile titan heads. Catching things on fire really helps the laser cannon above machine guns.

I LOVE the Stalwert on Bugs. Enjoy it on squids but usually end up going with HMG to deal with the harvesters to cover my team from those. I've never had much luck doing precise shots with light pen weapons on bots. MG is my go to

I bring the stalwart and expendables very often, the expendables are nice with a good squad cause anyone can pick them up
The senator has saved me plenty of times in hot swap situations. For squids and bots.
I hadn't thought about it before, but the rocket striders are arguably more vulnerable than the normal striders, right? Being able to blow up their rockets lets any weapon no matter the penetration to destroy them from the front.

Ive been using the Stalwart against bots since before the 60 day. Lore reasons. I have been LOVING it now that Thermites and Senator means I'm safe from Hulks and Tanks

You can cut Alpha commanders legs very quickly with stalwart just like you aim in devastators with your recoil. :D
Specifically for bots, and a biased opinion because my fav weapon - the laser cannon outclasses stalwart. Beam heads for small and medium, sets enemies on fire, case for it being the best against gunships, can kill hulks on its own, tanks if you can hit behind them, AA and mortar emplacements from afar if you have line of sight, factory strider chin guns quickly and weak points (a bit slower), INFINITE AMMO! And makes jet pack/back pack small enemies explode immediately.
Underrated? I love it! since the day i started playing (0_0 back on the creek) The best part about this video is, he basically described my playstyle against the squids to a T.

I can't imagine using a standard heavy machine gun vs bots, that time you're forced to crouch down is such a waste that you don't even recover like with the recoilless or autocannon

For bug i usually run mg43 because of the risk of bile spewers.. they are so deadly, and at higher levels its harder without medium pen, and higher stalker amounts.
They're only on nuke missions, extract oil , and the sssd. Also a blitz of they already showed up in the mission set. You are free to use it on all other types
My favorite loadout : stalwart + light viper comamdo armor (with the agility boost)
In my opinion every weapon can be used in the current state. Some may struggle with certain enemies. I personally would not use a Flamethrower against a Melee-Hulk, but yeah. If it works for you, it works. I've seen random players doing some crazy stuff with some weapons I personally do not prefer to use.
I love using the stalwart I use it as a support medic class with backpack and medic pistol and just become a walking heal and ammo player
And the primary I just use the explosive crossbow for aoe and take care of enemy spawn camps
Stalwart is great against bugs. If you have plenty of other stuff for the medium and heavies. Which is easy with a primary and secondary weapons. And stratagem options. And grenades.
If we had just *one* heavy pen primary it would be that much more viable.

Stalwart on low RPM is the ammo cache we all could do with. The Stalwart on high RPM is the fun button we all deserve. Supply Pack makes the dream joyous. This combo helped me save so many Helldivers from Berserker rushes before the 60-day plan, and is welcome on any front.

If you alternate with your primary, you don't even need the backpack, as long as your squad is not greedy.
@williamdelauney5350 can confirm. Pack is best for solo queue and stims/grenades on tap, but can survive without it as described.
