    Thanks for sharing your video, it's great to know these things. My son has a FG ute on gas only which has done a little over 100K. He rang me last night after a short trip home to say that it was running rough and driving like a pig. After stopping and restarting it, the problem disappeared. I was initially thinking it could have been a ECU glitch and suggested disconnecting the battery for a bit but the problem seems to have resolved itself. Could be anything these days, a sensor or the issue you had. I must buy that OBD2 scanner that I've been planning to do for a while. Hope your world is going well. Cheers.

      It will be easy to remove and install rock cover if you removed two cam sensor on back exhoustus one and manifold one with small screw 7mm.It was important to buy all new set of gasket and it was important to put oil resistance selant on two spots on rock cover to protect engine oil leaking.

    Hope the oil O rings are on your new ones , couldn't see properly , they are up the electrical end where your thumb was, yet Inside the rocker box. Old ones can be tested once removed on the 12v battery, can be soaked and cleaned. Good demo video thanks.

    Nice work, good to see it resolved.
    The solenoids weren't a problem before removal so you can bet it's down to the storage or even less likely the removal/installation process.
    If you did this again would you store them differently or clean them in some way?

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phillip Lascelles When I removed my mates ones after installing my new ones I put them in a resealable bag and left them in room temperature. They still work fine so I would recommend that approach for anyone else who ever takes them out overnight! I am unsure how to clean them as I replaced mine due to age but I’m sure there would be a way haha

    Can't not look at that 300 on your profile picture. I myself have a TT Manual all done up and am looking into getting an FG Turbo or NA as my daily driver now my Z is done. What would you recommend looking into looking? I'm mostly concerned about any engine concerns you've had, cosmetic or interior I'm not fused about, that's all just looks to me.
    Keep up the good vids I actually enjoyed watching this one and the subtitles really break up the I guess space between watching and listening.

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  ปีที่แล้ว

      I no longer have an FG, I only have the Zed and 96 XH ute. My mate has a turbo FG manual and it's really nice, so far he has only had issue with infotainment stuff. diff bushes are the weakest link in them, you will feel it on test drive if you go to get one and can use that as bargaining as it's a decent job to replace.
      Other than that Barra motora are very reliable but need better internals if you plan to boost higher than stock.
      If you aren't fussed about having a boosted one I'd say NA for daily. If it's auto make sure ot has ZF 6 speed as the 5 speed french boxes are weak. Good idea to change ZF auto oil cooler to external too as they are prone to splitting inside the rad and milking up... 😅

    • @EthanD19
      @EthanD19 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Import Experience sweet as. I'm not going more then stock for now till I finish off some other thing. My Z is for the power (500whp to be exact). Having a z helps as I have basically every tool you can think of to work on one. I am definitely interested in the turbo (mostly for that performance in traffic but also for the investment - not that I'll sell it but it's a good backup). I'm not a fan of any automatics, I like the simplicity of repairs in with a manual trans and the obvious fun of them. In saying that is there any problems that can arise with the manuals?

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EthanD19 Not really, the manual box are TR6060 which are super desirable due to reliability and ability to withstand extra power. Possibly just syncros if the previous owner shifts like a hoon lol. I'd buy a TR6060 in a heartbeat if the prices hadn't skyrocketed for second hand units

    Is there a left and a right (Intake and Exhaust) solenoid or are they both the same? You didn't put your original ones in the wrong side did you?

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part numbers are interchangeable. Pretty sure it's because I stored the originals poorly and they gummed up.

    I got my 09 fg back with P1836 Camshaft timing position overadvanced bank 2 after having my rocker gasket replaced + sparks + seals. Mechanic reckons its not a sensor issue and chain issue. Didnt throw any codes prior to taking it there but he showed me he took out the vct and 'cleaned it' not sure how he cleaned, regardless. Happy to try changing the vcts myself as I dont think the rocker has to come off for the fgs. Do you think it's worth trying vcts first for a P1386 code?

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah just spark plug cover has to come off if I remember correctly, If you knew someone else with an FG you could try swapping theirs in just to confirm the fault goes away. Does it have any loss of power or strange rev conditions now? Mine lost heaps of power in certain rev ranges when my VCT solenoid failed

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      How many K's on the chain?

    • @learningmadeeasy8548
      @learningmadeeasy8548 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No mates with an FG, changed vcts and still check engine lights on. Put my ear on the rocker and could hear a whinning like noise, not a clunking. Car starts at round 750 rpm cold and sounds ok but when the hoods up there's that whine.
      It's done 340k the old girl, I understand that things get worn, 2 weeks ago I had a mate chuck his gscan on it and there were no issues. He didn't have time to fix so took to another mechanic. It never had a check engine light popup in the years I've owned it so getting back with one sucks, if it's a failed sensor Im happy to fix replace however there shouldn't be a reason for the chain to play up on a rocker gasket chain I'd imagine. When you're check engine light cleared did it clear without resting anything once the vcts were changed? Thanks for getting back to me

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah I cleared the check engine light after vct change and all was good, if you clear light and theres a legit issue it should return almost immediately.
      If you've change vct then you have already checked plugs are connected properly. Does it have any lack of power or anything when putting it through the gears?
      The guides and tensioner could need replacing if they are really old, with a new chain if that kind of work was to be undertaken but a second opinion would be a good idea if you didn't get an actual fault code until immediately after someones worked on it.
      It's possible the chain had stretched enough to throw the timing out enough to trigger the code as well.
      whining noise could be any of the pulleys (bearings) on the serpentine belt system as well but that typically wouldn't throw a timing related code, as you would know, that runs all your auxiliary systems like water pump etc.
      Keep me updated on how it goes!

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Also chain would probably be making a rattling noise if it was getting pretty loose, but hard to say without hearing it myself.

    I got a 2009 fg xr6 N/A , now regularly serviced and has never missed a beat . Doesn't cough or splutter or anything like that just doesn't puck up pace like she normally does . I thought maybe air filter , but nup still doing it .
