    I would much prefer ballast changes to use compressed air pressure that you can build on the surface, and a bilge pump for removing water, but it seems pretty cluttered in there already so what can you do.

    • @FreerkHoltes

      bilge pump would be great, cause bailing water with buckets with a ladder as only exit is... horrendous.
      The reason water gets pumped out the ballast by electric pump I think is to tie it in with the whole "limited underwater time" thing that is pretty integral to this submarine.

    translate:
    thanks for the tutorial. It was very difficult to figure it out at first; on Russian-language TH-cam they didn’t really explain how the submarine works, but here everything is visible and understandable. But the question remains. When is it necessary to repair a submarine in port? How can you tell if it needs repairs?

    • @FreerkHoltes

      Besides leaks you won't really know when you need to repair it. In that sense it is the same as tanks, over time you will lose your armour and the only way to repair it is at the docks.
      Leaks can always be repaired with a hammer.
      Tranlsation (I hope):

    My only disapointment with the naval update is the fact the majority of content requires a team to access.
    As a solo your only opportunity to see this stuff is by shadowing a clan's operation and providing simple support.
    This includes the new island designs, because it's hard to advance on enemy positions without a naval assault or landing operation.
    And I'm aware its an extremely team based game, but some of us are quite casual and play by ourselves.

    • @Felix-bg8xn

    THANK YOU! I was really waiting for a video like this because I love submarines. You made the ballast and fins (depth management) usage very clear. Things to comment/improve: the submarine needs a place in the upper deck to reload torpedoes without taking damage; also, I think the 40mm turret needs to be fully enclosed because the gunner does not drown when manning the turret... finally I saw another video with people complaining about the submarine having only one ladder because of being unable to leave the submarine beacause the flooded rooms. Maybe another ladder to access the turret and the upper deck could be an improvement for the submarine in the next patch

    • @FreerkHoltes

      The 40mm is the deck gun and can only be used when on the surface. The only weapon available under the surface are the torpedo's.
      The ladder I feel is more an issue when bailing water, it takes for ever to go on deck, throw your bucket empty and come back. A pump for bailing on the surface would be great.
      The reloading I totally agree on. I was very confused trying to get the torpedos into the torpedo room.

    I wonder if there's a safe way to crash dive if for example you get spotted unexpectedly by a surface vessel (like a destroyer), but it seems that would be hard to pull off because the crush depth is up to 20 meters.

    • @danjames8314

      i mean the crush depth is more or less a "soft" crush depth, you can go beneath it but just not for long (i can see diving to 25 meters becoming a common strategy to out maneuver mines and depth charges)

    • @FreerkHoltes

      In my limited experience being below crush depth is a gamble. There is a RNG change at springing leaks which if you are unlucky mens you get hit by a leak immediately.
      But I'm sure more experienced crews will come out of this first war and they will find ways to deal with these types of issues.

    • @FreerkHoltes

      I partially agree. Submarines, destroyers, base ships, battle ships and storage ships are out of reach for a solo or small group.
      Gunboats however are perfectly attainable (of course depending on time investment) for a solo player at a cost of 140 rmats (2800 components) and fuelled by diesel or petrol.
      Same goes for tanks. A lrage part of the line-up is out of reach, but things like a Silverhand or Bardiche are doable

      Unfortunately you probably won't get your hands on a submarine no.
      Gunboats though should be fairly easy to accomplish. They cost (if memory serves) 140rmats right now. And provide three gunner spots (two tripod weapons and one heavy mortar) a spotter spot and a driver spot.
      Should be able to have some fun with that.

    I love the submarine but I'm afraid it'll be weak in combat even compared to WW2 u-boats. Everything costing electricity means there is very little time you can spend underwater, and what time you do spend has to be recouped by being a sitting duck. Above water it's weaker in every way compared to a destroyer. This will be one of those "weak, but fun for a handful of dedicated players" vehicles.

Instead I can actually see it become a nuance to the other team due to its stealthy nature. and in larger wolfpacks they might actually be able to hunt larger prey.
