I would much prefer ballast changes to use compressed air pressure that you can build on the surface, and a bilge pump for removing water, but it seems pretty cluttered in there already so what can you do.
bilge pump would be great, cause bailing water with buckets with a ladder as only exit is... horrendous. The reason water gets pumped out the ballast by electric pump I think is to tie it in with the whole "limited underwater time" thing that is pretty integral to this submarine.

Besides leaks you won't really know when you need to repair it. In that sense it is the same as tanks, over time you will lose your armour and the only way to repair it is at the docks. I wonder if there's a safe way to crash dive if for example you get spotted unexpectedly by a surface vessel (like a destroyer), but it seems that would be hard to pull off because the crush depth is up to 20 meters.
i mean the crush depth is more or less a "soft" crush depth, you can go beneath it but just not for long (i can see diving to 25 meters becoming a common strategy to out maneuver mines and depth charges)
In my limited experience being below crush depth is a gamble. There is a RNG change at springing leaks which if you are unlucky mens you get hit by a leak immediately. But I'm sure more experienced crews will come out of this first war and they will find ways to deal with these types of issues.
@@FreerkHoltesIn the last dev branch update they nerfed the leak frequency and strength by 50% so i dont think crush depth will be a problem until further updates + even before this update we went as deep as 35 meters and still easily survived.

My only disapointment with the naval update is the fact the majority of content requires a team to access. As a solo your only opportunity to see this stuff is by shadowing a clan's operation and providing simple support. This includes the new island designs, because it's hard to advance on enemy positions without a naval assault or landing operation. And I'm aware its an extremely team based game, but some of us are quite casual and play by ourselves.

There are regiments that provide vehicles for players if they "pay" for it (generally in resources) @@Felix-bg8xn . Also there'people and regiments that provide public faciltites. Just check for map markers announcing those.
Ships take so many crew that I imagine many will have "pubbies" on board to help with basic tasks. Not to mention the new naval landing mechanics will be more favorable to random players.
One thing he didn’t mention is that ballast is bugged, and it’s actually impossible to maintain neutral buoyancy. You are forced to constantly play flappy bird going up and down at a rate of about 1.5m/minute and it’s annoying.

Things to comment/improve: the submarine needs a place in the upper deck to reload torpedoes without taking damage; also, I think the 40mm turret needs to be fully enclosed because the gunner does not drown when manning the turret... finally I saw another video with people complaining about the submarine having only one ladder because of being unable to leave the submarine beacause the flooded rooms. Maybe another ladder to access the turret and the upper deck could be an improvement for the submarine in the next patch
The 40mm is the deck gun and can only be used when on the surface. The only weapon available under the surface are the torpedo's. The ladder I feel is more an issue when bailing water, it takes for ever to go on deck, throw your bucket empty and come back. A pump for bailing on the surface would be great. The reloading I totally agree on. I was very confused trying to get the torpedos into the torpedo room.
Nope. Maybe don't put ideas like that in the minds of the developers ;). Before you know it they start a food system and a disease system as well. Don't want to give them ideas

You can still empty your ballast and go to the surface, it is just very slow to pump the water out of the ballast when there's no battery. Then you should be able to refuel by hand

Unfortunately you probably won't get your hands on a submarine no. Gunboats though should be fairly easy to accomplish. They cost (if memory serves) 140rmats right now. And provide three gunner spots (two tripod weapons and one heavy mortar) a spotter spot and a driver spot. Should be able to have some fun with that. Plus naval invasions will probably be bigger in scale and longer lasting with the new base and storage ship, so changes are you'll be able to participate there
Well now after playing a while getting a GB is no big deal. Its just too bad colonial navy is better in every aspect as destroyer is far superior to a submarine for coastal bombardments and taking islands because its a spawn point too.

Gunboats however are perfectly attainable (of course depending on time investment) for a solo player at a cost of 140 rmats (2800 components) and fuelled by diesel or petrol. Same goes for tanks. A lrage part of the line-up is out of reach, but things like a Silverhand or Bardiche are doable
I think the gameplay for normals actually got a lot worse when they got rid of the old C4. Were were a small clan that blew up bridges and had a large impact on the war. But after the update we needed people to make logi like a full-time job just to have any impact on the war. We also stopped playing

With that as its core concept..What did you expect them to do, make it so that two guys with a hammer can make a battleship? These things need to be difficult to get for the sake of the overall game. Imagine if everyone had one of these. And its not like regiments forbid you from helping them man ships or do other things of that nature. I have not once seen a large ship with a crew entirely from one regiment. All you need to do is ask.

It is RNG whether it spawn a leak. More leaks is more water. More water is your sub is dead faster. So as far as I know there is no maximum time to be in crush zone, nor do I think (I might be wrong) is there a grace period in the crush zone
I love the submarine but I'm afraid it'll be weak in combat even compared to WW2 u-boats. Everything costing electricity means there is very little time you can spend underwater, and what time you do spend has to be recouped by being a sitting duck. Above water it's weaker in every way compared to a destroyer. This will be one of those "weak, but fun for a handful of dedicated players" vehicles.
Yeah, I would avoid any destroyer when in a submarine. Maybe it turns out that in a group submarines can fight back, but as it stands a solo submarine will be a nuisance for water logi, but run when sighting a destroyer
@@FreerkHoltes to be fair that is historically what happened in the world wars uboats going after convoys and running from allied QRF destroyers, and it perhaps should be considered a anti logi platform most of all sea partisan?, since going after destroyers seems...a very unfair match at first glance for the sub especialy because they seem limited compared to their real world worldwar counterparts . Instead I can actually see it become a nuance to the other team due to its stealthy nature. and in larger wolfpacks they might actually be able to hunt larger prey. Not sure how many if any passengers you can fit in but it actually could be a fun way of deploying partisans somewhere unexpected,
@@Bertranddeghaul You can as far as I know, take as many people as would fit physically in that space, allthough there is a 25 or 30 people limit for travelling with one vehicle (I don't know precisely, I did most of my testing solo ir with small groups) And yes, I think the intende purpose of the sub is to NOT go up against the destroyer but to make logi scared to not dare go out alone.
with a 100% negative ballast (assuming you have main and safety on 100% as well) you would have negative bouyancy, so you would not be able to overcome that with the dive planes
But the motor would. As you said in your video you only have a small negative bouyancy. Like that the Sub would be leaning forward slightly, so driving backwards and using dive planes should enable you to come closer to the surface.@@FreerkHoltes
Apparently you can open the dry dock's inventory from within the submarine and pull the torpedo's that way (something I forgot to even try but got pointed out by somebody in the comments)

U can join regiment without being hardcore gamer, help a bit with ressource and they certainly let u play the post u want in operation

No, as far as I know destroyed bridges will not allow you through. Neither on the surface nor below the surface

They need to change crush depth to 50 meters, but make the effects start at 20 and get worse until total crushing animation at 50.
I'm not even sure if there's many places where we have a depth of 50m. But having a bit more leeway would be great yeah
