Hands up who wants more close up shots of the food at the end? I especially like seeing close up`s of the food being cut into. It helps to see the finished texture. I can taste it more with my eyes that way! :)

Definitely know what you mean. There's a vegan bakery down the street from me that uses a lot of sugar and flour. I've stopped going there because every time I grab something I feel horrible afterwards. I'm guessing maybe they use oil too I've never asked.

My mother taught me the benefits of using Minute tapioca to thicken pie and crisp fillings, and stewed rhubarb. I prefer it for its convenience (no dissolving necessary) final appearance and because it requires no additional water to be added to an already wet filling. She taught me to use cornstarch in gravies, etc. It produces a beautiful translucent gravy, and doesn't give that starchy flavor either.

I recently used this almond flour base, almond flour plus ground flaxseed for a quiche, with mushroom and spinach, with cashew cheesy cream (with agar agar as well, I noticed agar agar is better sometimes instead of tapioca or another starch) and your oven cooked tofu (the one you did for a pizza)...it turned out very good, now I use almond flour variations as a replacement for all pastry.

I made only the apple filling today for my air fried dessert spring rolls and this was PERFECT!!! The sweetness and consistency of the filling is exactly what I was looking for and I can’t wait to try it with peaches. I’ll be making the pie soon.
    * UPDATE: I made the whole thing about a week later and it was PHENOMENAL!!! I can't even describe how good it was. I've made lots of WFPB pies, cobblers and crisps but this thing sent my taste buds into overload. I used apples and peaches but mixture of any fruit should work. It was all I could do to not eat the entire thing!😋 BTW, I did all 3 components (crust, filling and crumble) in the Vitamix rather than breaking out the food processor. Works like a charm as long as you pulse rather than blend crust and crumble. Thanks so much, Jill!!!

@@barbaramartinetti Unfortunately, I didn't get my recipe from any specific video. I used Jill's apple filling and you can wrap a bit of that in either spring roll wrappers (asian market or international section of grocery store) or vegan egg roll wraps (refrigerated section of grocery). Simply place filling inside the wrap, roll it up and air fry or bake at 375F for 10-15 min (or until desired crispiness). Good luck!

I've ever used Honey Crisp for apple pie. But I've seen a lot of TH-camrs rave about them. I've always used the Cortland, which my family loves - but they are only avail for such a short time. We love the Cortland because they cook down and don't result in some of the apples still seeming hard. This recipe looks pretty tempting - more like an apple crisp. Thanks for sharing.

I must try this! We are being inundated with huge apples from our little tree in the garden and they are sooo delicious... Most of them are now stewed and frozen. I think I could add the sauce to the stewed apple and make the pie that way, as we are now coming towards the end of the crop. I haven’t made a regular apple pie since we went WFPB and this recipe looks ideal. Thank you!

@@CastledarkDweller27 please don’t perpetuate the misinformation nor decorate with ignorant food myths. The recipe NOT “sugar free” and both chemically and as digested by the body, the bags of refined sugar and juice/fruit sugar are the same. Whole fruit better than juice because longer to eat and more soluble/insoluble fiber - still sugar. It is the reason why white grape/apple/pear juice used: 100% devoid of color and flavor and fools think better than sugar; it is ONLY used for sugar.

Looks wonderful and I'm going to get it BUT out of curiosity would blood sugar go through the roof with the amount of dates in this? They are in the crust, the filling and the topping. Just a bit worried. I'm wondering if too much will affect the trygercides in my blood which are high at the moment.
By the way I do LOVE your channel.

This is a delicious recipe. For those of you who are diabetic or prediabetic (like me), I have made this recipe using stevia with great success (my doctor approves). I use organic Granny Smith apples which are lower in sugar than red. For people with no blood sugar problems, whole dates have fibre in them which helps slow down sugar absorption rates into the bloodstream. The research to date shows that diabetics can safely have 1-2 dates per day, but I am trying to lower my triglycerides so I am staying on the safe side by using pure stevia extract products, like Sweetleaf Stevia, (read the labels to ensure no artificial or other cheaper sweeteners are added...and no, I am not a Sweetleaf marketer, just have searched many years for an unadulterated stevia product). All dried fruit, including dates, can spike blood glucose levels.
