Yep, after 7 years of drawing I was raging so bad cuz I haven’t made ANY PROGRESS, so I started saying to myself: It’s not a lack of skill it’s the app 😒 But now after seeing people draw perfectly on ibis paint (I use ibis paint) I confirm that I am the issue :D

Wow watching these helps me realize there's still so many features in ibis paint i have yet to learn about and discover and I've been using it for years, before i was pretty stubborn on not straying from what i knew but since i started using more and more of the program I've found drawing even more enjoyable. Like the clipping feature, erasing excess color and stuff while drawing was a nightmare but since i started experimenting it's been so helpful and i only have to color in the main base color all over and that reference window has been a blessing cause i no longer have to find room on the canvas for refs. with the window you can also zoom in and if you import a reference you can color pick from it too and you can add as many refs as you want as well as switching back and forth between the refs and the actual drawing window and everything stays there (still have yet to figure out the folder but we're getting there lol)
1:56 to flip the ENTIRE canvas with every layer flipped as well, on the side menu with the pens, go to the bottom and click the one with a square labeled ‘canvas’ it will give a set of options like colour changes (colour->grayscale) as well as the canvas switch.
Another tip for filling in base colors! I like to use the selection layer to fill in the background, and then use the “invert selection area” to be able to quickly fill in the drawing with one color- then I can color in the rest of the colors.

Just a little tip! In ibis paint you can change the way you view the relapse of you art process to one with the window (so if your file gets corrupted again you still have the exact footage you saw, if a bit fast) in the info menu on your piece- which is also where you post ibispaint art, too, if thats how you know to get there. The way it usually shows your art in the relapse is called "view fixation," but by clicking on it, a dropdown menu will pop up and you can change it to "with window" which will show everything done.

I know I’m late, but I have a tip for the base colours. Just under transform is the magic wand tool. You tap on the area you want to fill in the base colours of, and then you can go to the selection layer and clean it up, it is really fast and precise
Instead of using the lasso tool or selection, simply just press magic wand, press anywhere on the area you want to color, color it, and as soon as you let go it will be filled in perfectly!
I recommend you use stabilizer The Stabilizer function automatically corrects free-handed lines into neat lines. Select the 1 Stabilizer tool, choose the degree of correction by dragging the 2 Stabilizer slider left and right.! Edit: wrote function wrong
2:18 Here's tip, and Idk if you already know, but you can find and dl brushes that other people made. They're usually qr codes with an example of said brush or a cute doodle.
Found this video in my recommendations due to the algorithm. At 8:00, you mentioned "pen pressure, sensitivity" you can actually configure pressure sensitivity by going to settings and scrolling down to the "pressure sensitivity" area where you can adjust the graph to change your pressure sensitivity.
5:35 This is because of gap recognition! If you have it off, it will colour anything in the zone you click! If you have it on, it will slowly fill it up because it recognizes gaps! This is especially useful if you have thin lineart, or want to quickly colour a specific area thats connected to another area without colouring both areas
8:32 OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS TIP IM ABOUT TO GIVE So basically, if you go to your gallery, go to the painting you want, press the ‘i’ button with a circle around it. Then you can see all the stuff there, then under ‘video type’ it’ll say ‘video fixation’ press on it, and select ‘with window’. Then watch the time lapse and itll show exactly what you did. If you want to slow it down you can press the backwards button that shows up on the little pop up when you press the screen while watching the time-lapse. You can slow it down to 1x with show what you did exactly. Its so much fun i love it sm.

when you open the brush menu to choose a brush there should be an online option where you can go and download brushes that may help with blending and all that, as well as being able to control how much pressure does how much (if that makes sense) you can click the little arrow at the bottom and scroll down for a little bit, once you come across the pressure sensitivity adjust you can freely change it to your liking! :3
5:45 this mostly happens sometimes when you turn on gap recognition, gap recognition recognizes to show that there are some gaps in some parts, when you make lineart there might be some gaps and it’s very common, but when you want to color base colors might be tiring when you keep trying to recognize parts of hair, skin, eyes and even mouths. Yes base colors is as hard as that. But once you fill it won’t be so hard until the gaps come in, gaps would color your whole canvas causing you to use thick, and I mean VERY thick brushes. So instead of that happening some of us use gap recognition option. It will kind of make gaps almost like puzzles just like how you have described so in case so it doesn’t go out. Sometimes it makes circles too because the ‘puzzle pieces’ might not work from when even sometimes pieces doesn’t work, circles make parts of which it doesn’t color. When gap recognition comes out you can use it freely, but only until it still fills then from parts near the place you have chosen you will have to look for gaps and close them. Think of electric circuits, exactly like it! 😂 6:30 from my previous point, lasso fill is a great solution to the problem! :) Here’s my own tip, when drawing, you might want to draw smooth shapes. 1: you can find a type of tool with a ‘finger thumbnail’ tap on the top right corner. When you press on it, go all the way down. You will find shapes such as squares, rectangles, triangles, circles and much more, when you press on any shape you want you can go onto your canvas and then there will be kind of like lines that control the size. 2: An easier way for no 1, I would like to inform you that this one is only for ruler and circle. When you go to the tool next the previously stated, you will find in the first top you will find circles and rulers. Circles they make circles (ofc) in red outline, you cannot change the color, but you can change the size by another small circle inside of it, zooming in also makes it smaller than it’s maximum. Same for rulers. 😊
Recently I've started using a stylus but I didn't have any problem with painting with just my finger. It certainly is hard but I found that I was able to paint great.
here is another helpful coloring in tip! you can use "magic wand" and click where you want too color in, use the paintbrush too color in the part that you want to color in. you can remove it by clicking a transparent square like this: ⬜ hope that helps! also, if this is not helpful for you, im so sorry it helps for me so i would think that it would help for you! 😃

HANACUEE! IVE GOT SUCH A GREAT TIP ABT URR CORRUPTED FOOTAGE! On ibis on the speedpaint thing where you can save it, if you press on the i (info) icon on ur drawing and then press on video type and then the with window button youll have perfect footage! There, you can save the video as u normally would
If you didn't know, in layers, if you click on the 'normal' button, not only can you make affects to your drawing like 'darken' or overlay, but you can also set a screentone! You can use screentone for effects over the whole drawing, or even just little places on your art to make more detailed :3 (sorry if itss confusing)
*How To Unlock Brushes Without Watching An Ad* 1:30 tips that will help you more than you think: turn off your wifi (or airplane mode) then turn it back on, wait for atleast 3 sec and click unlock. If you left the canva, you will have to do it again. Hopes it help

I got a tip! 1.put all ur body parts including hair and eyes on different layers bc it help u with tip 2😊 2.tap transform on the layer u did ur eyes on if its to big 3.for tip 2 tap the second button on transform so you can reduce the size and make it thinner and thicker! Thats all!

I think someone needs to tell her that she has the "Gap Recognition" On which basically fills in the area as blocks turning it off is way better for the bucket tool
Btw about the paint bucket thing here’s some stuff idk if it was mentioned in the vid tho: 1. Turn off “Gap recognition”, then those circles and bits will stop and it’ll just fill like normal 2. Use “Magic wand” and select the area you want to colour, make your brush big, and just colour. This will make sure the colour doesn’t go out of the lines! 3. This one was in the vid: Lasso thingy :D
Fact! If you exit go back to the gallery and click on the "i" beside the "+" and scroll down to video type, you can switch to with window which shows the speedpaint with the stuff you did with the drawing. The without window just shows the normal types of speedpaint but instead it just moves the canvas. I prefer you try "with window" out for youself so you don't have to try and record again.
This is more of a small detail, but ! If you go to settings and press "only contents" under 'layer window thumbnail' it's easier to see what's in each layer !
Im not sure if your clicking the undo button or not (i cant tell from your screen recording), but there is a way to not click the undo button. With two of your fingers double tap it! :3 2:31
Heres another tip! You can save the brushes to the custom tab, witht the + button. You can actually customize those brushes you add. So you can save free brushes, then copy the settings on other brushes! I use the custom brushes as my own brush pallete. So I don't have to scroll through a million brushes.
Don't know if anyone added this, but with the liquify/smoothen tool, the smoothen is actually used after you liquify! It smoothens what you've liquefied and, like the commenter said, may reduce the pixelation.

Pretty sure the smoothening mode of the liquify is to undo the liquify in the desired areas. You can also "fix" the bucket tool by ajusting it's strength or gap recognition I guess

Now like last time, let's go with my super long timestamp comments!: 2:05 to be fair, I'm pretty sure Ibis target audience is majority for mobile users, so there's no way to put more buttons in there without broking the mobile interface xD Like, yeah, it looks big and empty on a tablet interface or when you rotate the mobile screen (which I believe only few people do it bc it's kinda uncomfortable drawing like that depending on ur screen size) which I believe is why they put the redo-undo buttons there; but on mobile this place it's really small so it needs to have only the essential- (This is a personal view, but I myself think it could be really inconvenient putting this button there anyways since it's not exactly super essential, it looks a lot pratical already on the layer window where other canvas related options are too-) 2:35 you can do it faster on the first upper buttom of the screen (the one that looks like two switches) 3:40 it's bc of the Gap Recognition, is for when your line it's not entirely connected...but even tho they released it with the best of intentions I really think they should made some adjustments to it, it's kinda buggy as you saw there xD 6:36 it is in fact a bit tricky to setting it and understand but basically; this circle you can move and change size it's your "reference", you place it on what you want to copy and then when you tap or slide your finger outside the circle, it will create copies of the "reference". (I think there's a video on their channel that explains it better but I'm not totally sure rn) 7:55 yeah, it requers a lot of try and error + knowledge of how the brushes settings work but even so Ibis still has its limitations on their brush settings so some really specific settings are impossible for now...buuut, if you really want, there's plenty of custom brushes made by the community, you can find either on the "online" button on custom window that leads you to their official community website, or you can find on internet looking for "[type of brush you want] Ibis Paint brush qr code" or something like that, and then importing it on the "..." In the brush window. Yes, the sensitivity has its own influence on that, but it's not exclusively, since you can mess with the settings and make the sensitivity don't have any influence at all. (I really wish they made the brush settings more easy to understand, it's so beginner unfriendly xD) 8:35 there's a function where you can change the type of timelapse video you want, one of them shows your interface and which windows and options you used during the process; go to your artwork on the main screen>Info>type of video...the problem is that it's a little buggy sometimes (there's times where one window interface remains open even when you aren't using anymore-) bc I think they totally forgot that this function existed and never updated it at all since launched xD 10:20 this is probably just me, but even though the tutorial says to use the blood splatters bc it's faster, I could recommend you just do random dots manually instead, since most of the blood splatters doesn't look so much like water splatters even after the filter (on your zoomed final reveal you can also see some red edges still there messing up the water effect); BUT THIS IS TOTALLY MY PERSONAL OPINION ONLY BC IT DEPENDS A LOT OF THE OVERALL DRAWING CONTEXT AND ARTIST CHOICES TOO, so take it with some grains of salt- And yes, I totally recommend watching more of their tutorial videos, but I could also recommend watching their past updates videos too since it explains a lot of Ibis functions you could still be unfamiliar (or go to their update log on their website, but it's hella impractical and long so yea, better watch the videos-)
As someone who ALWAYS uses ibis-paint, I never knew we could change the background by pressing that white squared box at the bottom, I just knew how to make backgrounds transparent and that’s all😅
8:54 you can find other brushes you can import into ibispaint, online or through a picture. if you click on your brushes, for a picture, click on the 3 dots and import a brush, and for online, click on the online button at the brush menu, and bam!!
I didn't think to give many tips in the last one but I would like to say that another thing to do is to check the online brushes made by the community. Those have helped me a lot and slightly editing them to fit how I draw in my tablet has helped a lot. Also always just play around with things... I have watched a lot of tutorials when it comes to Ibis pint but nothing helps more then just reading on the app itself and playing around. 12:1912:19
If you use smuge and select one of the lines ones(i forgot the name but it has multiple lines) there is alot of them like it vut just try all and use it on something like a rainbow it will look cool(pre test by just a circle of rainbow)
When you click on the brush changer (that's how im calling it :D) there's three dots on the edge of the board, when you click at it too, you can actually import some brushes with some pictures with QR codes (you can find those pictures on google or other apps and also save them) and choose what brush (QR code) you want to import, if some of the QR codes doesn't work, it's maybe because of the quality of the picture..

At 2:41 there is an easier way to turn on reference without doing all that, not sure why that was recommended😭 but there is a button at the top next to the lined box button with an on and off switch kinda looking thing where you can toggle the grid and reference easily and some other tools.

As someone that uses ibis paint for drawing everyday, im happy to hear you gave it a chance as many people think its for newbie artists but it can be used by pros, experts, and all levels of art, im just happy a drawing youtuber gave it a chance and didnt try to pick out all the flaws to overlap the good parts of ibis paint 😊 (my hands hurt from typing all this 😭😭😭😭)
2:33 if you tap the first of the five buttons at the top left corner (left of the dotted box) you can add he reference window faster 8:00 you can change the pressure sensitivity of the pen your using at the start up page and top left tapping the gear symbol and scrolling down a bit through the settings you can find the pressure sensitivity section and adjust it to your liking or by going to the brush adjustments and pressing the dynamic option to change the pressure and speed of the brush
If you want to blur a whole layer, you can go to filter then gaussion blur. Great for backrounds/blending. I use this in every art work especialy when i use water color brush lol
Another ibispaintx tip which will help u.... when u click on the color wheel a downward arrow towards the left takes you to a panel showing ALMOST all the colors u used!!! this tip rlly helped me a lot while coloring/rendering in ibispaintx
Hiyaaa heres one more tip! Just incase you lose your footage again you can replay you ibis paint drawing if u exit out of the canvas just press the play button!
Hello, can I suggest you make a video. The video will be a step by step following tutorial for colouring. First use a line art for colour, provide a link for people to download and follow along. Then you will colour step by step allowing the viewer to follow. This will help people learn about different techniques and steps as they follow and when they finish they will learn the techniques and feel comfortable and confident. This could be a series of videos. Allowing the viewer to following, learn and improve.

So instead of that happening some of us use gap recognition option. It will kind of make gaps almost like puzzles just like how you have described so in case so it doesn’t go out. Sometimes it makes circles too because the ‘puzzle pieces’ might not work from when even sometimes pieces doesn’t work, circles make parts of which it doesn’t color. When gap recognition comes out you can use it freely, but only until it still fills then from parts near the place you have chosen you will have to look for gaps and close them. Think of electric circuits, exactly like it! 😂

Here’s my own tip, when drawing, you might want to draw smooth shapes.
1: you can find a type of tool with a ‘finger thumbnail’ tap on the top right corner. When you press on it, go all the way down. You will find shapes such as squares, rectangles, triangles, circles and much more, when you press on any shape you want you can go onto your canvas and then there will be kind of like lines that control the size.
2: An easier way for no 1, I would like to inform you that this one is only for ruler and circle. When you go to the tool next the previously stated, you will find in the first top you will find circles and rulers. Circles they make circles (ofc) in red outline, you cannot change the color, but you can change the size by another small circle inside of it, zooming in also makes it smaller than it’s maximum. Same for rulers. 😊

here is another helpful coloring in tip! you can use "magic wand" and click where you want too color in, use the paintbrush too color in the part that you want to color in. you can remove it by clicking a transparent square like this: ⬜ hope that helps! also, if this is not helpful for you, im so sorry it helps for me so i would think that it would help for you! 😃

HANACUEE! IVE GOT SUCH A GREAT TIP ABT URR CORRUPTED FOOTAGE! On ibis on the speedpaint thing where you can save it, if you press on the i (info) icon on ur drawing and then press on video type and then the with window button youll have perfect footage! There, you can save the video as u normally would

If you didn't know, in layers, if you click on the 'normal' button, not only can you make affects to your drawing like 'darken' or overlay, but you can also set a screentone! You can use screentone for effects over the whole drawing, or even just little places on your art to make more detailed :3 (sorry if itss confusing)

1:30 tips that will help you more than you think: turn off your wifi (or airplane mode) then turn it back on, wait for atleast 3 sec and click unlock. If you left the canva, you will have to do it again. Hopes it help

Hey! Just to let u know if u already didn’t u can in fact change the pressure sensitivity in ibis to ur liking, it’s in settings u just have to scroll down a bit (great vid also ❤) ^^

1.put all ur body parts including hair and eyes on different layers bc it help u with tip 2😊
2.tap transform on the layer u did ur eyes on if its to big
3.for tip 2 tap the second button on transform so you can reduce the size and make it thinner and thicker!

I think someone needs to tell her that she has the "Gap Recognition" On which basically fills in the area as blocks turning it off is way better for the bucket tool

Btw about the paint bucket thing here’s some stuff idk if it was mentioned in the vid tho:
1. Turn off “Gap recognition”, then those circles and bits will stop and it’ll just fill like normal
2. Use “Magic wand” and select the area you want to colour, make your brush big, and just colour. This will make sure the colour doesn’t go out of the lines!

For the Paint Bucket you need to go to the gears after you click the paint bucket tool and turn up the expansion to 4.0 it will work crisply

If you exit go back to the gallery and click on the "i" beside the "+" and scroll down to video type, you can switch to with window which shows the speedpaint with the stuff you did with the drawing. The without window just shows the normal types of speedpaint but instead it just moves the canvas.
I prefer you try "with window" out for youself so you don't have to try and record again.
This is more of a small detail, but ! If you go to settings and press "only contents" under 'layer window thumbnail' it's easier to see what's in each layer !

Heres another tip! You can save the brushes to the custom tab, witht the + button. You can actually customize those brushes you add. So you can save free brushes, then copy the settings on other brushes! I use the custom brushes as my own brush pallete. So I don't have to scroll through a million brushes.
Don't know if anyone added this, but with the liquify/smoothen tool, the smoothen is actually used after you liquify! It smoothens what you've liquefied and, like the commenter said, may reduce the pixelation.

Pretty sure the smoothening mode of the liquify is to undo the liquify in the desired areas.
You can also "fix" the bucket tool by ajusting it's strength or gap recognition I guess

Like, yeah, it looks big and empty on a tablet interface or when you rotate the mobile screen (which I believe only few people do it bc it's kinda uncomfortable drawing like that depending on ur screen size) which I believe is why they put the redo-undo buttons there; but on mobile this place it's really small so it needs to have only the essential-
(This is a personal view, but I myself think it could be really inconvenient putting this button there anyways since it's not exactly super essential, it looks a lot pratical already on the layer window where other canvas related options are too-)

6:36 it is in fact a bit tricky to setting it and understand but basically; this circle you can move and change size it's your "reference", you place it on what you want to copy and then when you tap or slide your finger outside the circle, it will create copies of the "reference". (I think there's a video on their channel that explains it better but I'm not totally sure rn)
7:55 yeah, it requers a lot of try and error + knowledge of how the brushes settings work but even so Ibis still has its limitations on their brush settings so some really specific settings are impossible for now...buuut, if you really want, there's plenty of custom brushes made by the community, you can find either on the "online" button on custom window that leads you to their official community website, or you can find on internet looking for "[type of brush you want] Ibis Paint brush qr code" or something like that, and then importing it on the "..." In the brush window.
Yes, the sensitivity has its own influence on that, but it's not exclusively, since you can mess with the settings and make the sensitivity don't have any influence at all. (I really wish they made the brush settings more easy to understand, it's so beginner unfriendly xD)
8:35 there's a function where you can change the type of timelapse video you want, one of them shows your interface and which windows and options you used during the process; go to your artwork on the main screen>Info>type of video...the problem is that it's a little buggy sometimes (there's times where one window interface remains open even when you aren't using anymore-) bc I think they totally forgot that this function existed and never updated it at all since launched xD
10:20 this is probably just me, but even though the tutorial says to use the blood splatters bc it's faster, I could recommend you just do random dots manually instead, since most of the blood splatters doesn't look so much like water splatters even after the filter (on your zoomed final reveal you can also see some red edges still there messing up the water effect); BUT THIS IS TOTALLY MY PERSONAL OPINION ONLY BC IT DEPENDS A LOT OF THE OVERALL DRAWING CONTEXT AND ARTIST CHOICES TOO, so take it with some grains of salt-
And yes, I totally recommend watching more of their tutorial videos, but I could also recommend watching their past updates videos too since it explains a lot of Ibis functions you could still be unfamiliar (or go to their update log on their website, but it's hella impractical and long so yea, better watch the videos-)
For thr coloring part you could make a new layer and put the new layer on the bottom which makes it easier :3
The flipping feature in the layer thing on the bottom is also on the side too ❤

It might be better to not use the bucket tool for your art! Your art tends to have more details and lines so keep on using the lasso fill.
As someone who ALWAYS uses ibis-paint, I never knew we could change the background by pressing that white squared box at the bottom, I just knew how to make backgrounds transparent and that’s all😅
8:54 you can find other brushes you can import into ibispaint, online or through a picture. if you click on your brushes, for a picture, click on the 3 dots and import a brush, and for online, click on the online button at the brush menu, and bam!!
I didn't think to give many tips in the last one but I would like to say that another thing to do is to check the online brushes made by the community. Those have helped me a lot and slightly editing them to fit how I draw in my tablet has helped a lot. Also always just play around with things... I have watched a lot of tutorials when it comes to Ibis pint but nothing helps more then just reading on the app itself and playing around. 12:19 12:19
If you use smuge and select one of the lines ones(i forgot the name but it has multiple lines) there is alot of them like it vut just try all and use it on something like a rainbow it will look cool(pre test by just a circle of rainbow)
Fun fact! Pencil versions of ibis pens tend to hate the fill bucket tool. Normally it's great, though!
When you click on the brush changer (that's how im calling it :D) there's three dots on the edge of the board, when you click at it too, you can actually import some brushes with some pictures with QR codes (you can find those pictures on google or other apps and also save them) and choose what brush (QR code) you want to import, if some of the QR codes doesn't work, it's maybe because of the quality of the picture..
7:43 use fade and lower the opacity. When change it to water color.
8:13 You can change the blur brush so the blending will work differently, and also the opacity will affect it too

At 2:41 there is an easier way to turn on reference without doing all that, not sure why that was recommended😭 but there is a button at the top next to the lined box button with an on and off switch kinda looking thing where you can toggle the grid and reference easily and some other tools.

you can change the pressure sensitivity of the pen your using at the start up page and top left tapping the gear symbol and scrolling down a bit through the settings you can find the pressure sensitivity section and adjust it to your liking or by going to the brush adjustments and pressing the dynamic option to change the pressure and speed of the brush

If you want to blur a whole layer, you can go to filter then gaussion blur. Great for backrounds/blending. I use this in every art work especialy when i use water color brush lol
