Hard to believe this, but when l was a kid, the most delicious peanut butter cake l've ever had to this day, used to be served at our school cafeteria. lt was perfect. The cake part was so moist and the delicate, cracking glaze on top was rich, yet somehow not too rich or too thick. Yours looks and behaves just like it, and if it's what l think it is, l'll be so happy. Only one way to find out....
@@Girlcancook Wow! Can't believe it's been 11 years since I posted my comment. Anyway, YES! I've made this so many times over the years and it's THE one! It tastes exactly like the ones l remember from school lunches.

Thanks! You are going to love it, my youngest daughter says this is like heaven in your mouth, and I kind of agree! I think I'm going to make this with a chocolate whipped frosting! Who wouldn't love that? Thanks for coming by! Love your peanut butters!
I am making this today - with one alteration. Instead of water, I'm using a strong coffee. My late step-mother-in-law used to make a peanut butter coffee cake out of yellow box mix and it was heavenly.
Noreen, I have this exact same recipe!! I got it from a co-worker about 35 years ago. Just about every potluck we:'re invited to, we get asked specifically to bring this dessert!!! Everyone absolutely LOVES it!!!

Noreen, I live in Ecuador. We have trouble here finding the kind of Gringo (not a negative term here-it just means, someone who came from another place) foods that people were used to in their former lives. That need was my impetus to write a book ("What's Cookin,' Cuenca?") to help expats find and make the foods they miss from their former homes. YOU ARE SUCH A GODSEND! (For instance, it is impossible to find cottage cheese in Ecuador! Thanks to you, I make it every week!) I love your recipes, love your family, love the way you tell us how to do things! I just bought a slow-cooker. I had two of them in the US and NOTHING that I tried worked well in them, but your recipes--PERFECT! Thank you a zillion times!
Aren't you sweet! Thanks so much for the kind words. So glad that you are using and enjoying what I share! Every place is so different. Having been on TH-cam for a while now, it has become very evident that other countries don't have everything we have here. A thought I never had before! For instance, I thought cottage cheese was something nearly every dairy consuming country would at least have an equivalent. You learn something every day! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing!

You mentioned how some people won’t cook or bake for failure of doing something wrong…I forgot to add the granulated sugar! So I ended up with peanutbutter bread with a stellar glazed topping!! Next time I will have cake!
Great recipes !! I'm a fan. However, the primary reason for sifting flour into cake batters is to incorporate Air into the mixture. If you put a bag of flour into a container, then continue to tap it down on the countertop you will lose inches of air as the flour sinks. Sifting puts it back in.
Actually sifting flour was a way for our grandmother's to remove bugs that got into or hatched in the flour. Most sifting is no longer needed now that we have freezers and the ability to buy our flour in small amounts that are used quickly.
LOL I remember losing my door as a teenager as well. I know I would love this cake as I am a peanut butter freak! I have been known to just sit with a jar of peanut butter and a spoon and eat.

What is important is making sure I can inspire people like you to get in the kitchen and cook fun, delicious, comforting, healthy foods from scratch and get out of the habit of making processed things out of a box, bag, can or jar. We all have to do it sometimes, but we are facing a generation who can't won't and doesn't have a desire to cook, even the simplest of things. I hope you enjoy the peanut butter sheet cake! Baking is a science. The ingredients are the way they are for a reason. Adjusting may give you an undesired result.
