  • In the final part of this series, I try my hand at powdercoating, using a very cheap powder coating gun found on Amazon. I have never done this before but I found it to be quite an easy procedure.

I've seen powder coating done many times in person. Looks like you did pretty much everything right, except for the gloves part. Looks great.

I'm enjoying your work in creating tools almost as much as I enjoy watching you work on the watches with them! Outstanding, and thank you for all the efforts and explanations! This is truly wonderful work. :)

For a watchmaker, who is always so precise and accurate, who works with small delicate items, you were so clumsy when handling the powder coated parts. Lol. Pretty cool that you can do it at home though.

Martin's vids are spot on and he's such a nutter too :) I was wondering if the chrome and gold chrome powder coats could be used to rejuvenate a bad plated watch case as I have eye too the hyrdo-silver for watch cases which produces a high chrome like effect using a silver "wash".

It seems to use the friction of the powder to the plastic pipe to generate the static charge.

Good job as I expected from you, take care when powdering.
A question: I have to set the seconds central chrono hand to zero position on an omega speedmaster automatic (valjoux 7750). It stands on 2 o'clock position when reseted. Is it much more complicated to get this hand off and on than a usual seconds hand on a 3hander?
    Thanks and regards.

Did you use a 3D CAD programme for the animation & drawings? Brilliant tutorial, thanks.

Great painting model metal cars. But Would definitely recommend using gloves a mask and a ventilator fan, if don't want cancer.

Mark, I have an Omega Estrela that has seen some better days. It would be an honor to have you work on it and a dream come true if you make a video about it. Please let me know if you would be interested, of course I would pay for your services. Thank you in advance for your time and I hope to hear from you soon!!

That seems a nice simple way to powder coat - good result ! I yelled 'nooooo' out loud when you wiped that acetone off your cutting mat, Mark :o) Acetone is (I'm sure you know) a plastic eater - can't put it near _any_ plastic unless you have tested it first - even tough polycarb will be trashed by it :O( IPA is plastic friendly, but doesn't clean quite as well of course.

It looks good enough. Have you tried to bake your hand after you coated it? ")

    "Manuals are for wimps!" LOL!
They are usually so poorly written as to render them utterly useless anyway.
