DIY Powder Coating at home - Hand Lifting Tool Jig - Pt.3 - powdercoating
In the final part of this series, I try my hand at powdercoating, using a very cheap powder coating gun found on Amazon. I have never done this before but I found it to be quite an easy procedure.

Mark, can you adapt this to also accommodate hand setting tools and when will it be for sale? Great video as always.

For a watchmaker, who is always so precise and accurate, who works with small delicate items, you were so clumsy when handling the powder coated parts. Lol. Pretty cool that you can do it at home though.

Have finished the project just recently. All works well, smooth, and with no wobble. Used the same color powder coating, so the finished tool looks great, too. Thank you, Mark, for the plans.

I am now starting this project. Thank you, Mark, for the drawings! The length of the rails is missing for some reason. What should be the correct length? 100mm?

Mark, I have an Omega Estrela that has seen some better days. It would be an honor to have you work on it and a dream come true if you make a video about it. Please let me know if you would be interested, of course I would pay for your services. Thank you in advance for your time and I hope to hear from you soon!!

I'm enjoying your work in creating tools almost as much as I enjoy watching you work on the watches with them! Outstanding, and thank you for all the efforts and explanations! This is truly wonderful work. :)

Mark your machining skills are awesome. I’ve made a movement holder like the Bergeon 4040 and a case holder as well. I have a few projects up my sleeve with my programming software and cad paired with a cnc machine. Keep up the good work!

Martin's vids are spot on and he's such a nutter too :) I was wondering if the chrome and gold chrome powder coats could be used to rejuvenate a bad plated watch case as I have eye too the hyrdo-silver for watch cases which produces a high chrome like effect using a silver "wash".

Good job as I expected from you, take care when powdering. A question: I have to set the seconds central chrono hand to zero position on an omega speedmaster automatic (valjoux 7750). It stands on 2 o'clock position when reseted. Is it much more complicated to get this hand off and on than a usual seconds hand on a 3hander? Thanks and regards.

That seems a nice simple way to powder coat - good result ! I yelled 'nooooo' out loud when you wiped that acetone off your cutting mat, Mark :o) Acetone is (I'm sure you know) a plastic eater - can't put it near _any_ plastic unless you have tested it first - even tough polycarb will be trashed by it :O( IPA is plastic friendly, but doesn't clean quite as well of course.

It seems to use the friction of the powder to the plastic pipe to generate the static charge.

Hi Mark. Love your work. Got hooked on your Watch Repair videos and now your workshop exploits. Brilliant stuff. Refreshing to see someone show how things sometimes don’t work out right the first time and need a do over😂. One thing, if I may. You sometimes leave the Lathe Chuck Key in the Lathe. Man, this freaks me out😲. Please make more of these videos but also keep posting the watch repair videos too.

Mark, once you start making tooling it never stops. One project leads to another. I have made a clock test stand, spring winder, staking tool and a complete watch makers lathe with all its tooling. I love every minute of it.enjoy it.

Thanks for this channel, Mark. I admire your candour in mentioning the first attempt at the bush. Even experienced machinists "blow it" sometimes. No sense beating ourselves up - just start again and avoid the mistake next time. If it can be recovered the learning is just as valuable.

Good to see you use a starter-drill (countersink). So many videos I have watched with machining processes and these are not used. I was taught many years ago by English and German toolmakers, and they insisted every time I make a hole, use a starter drill, as regular drills can wobble off center easily. I believe I will enjoy this channel as much as the Watch Repair channel. Thank you Mark!
