- If you have thought about trying powder coating at home but was unsure how to do it, here's my home set up. I'm a beginner and built my own powder coating oven and use the Easy Coat system from Electrostatic Magic here in the UK. In this video, I powder coat some old lawnmower parts and also show you the filler I use that you can powder coat over with great results. I’ve been powder coating for a few years now. The problem with it is that it’s actually so much fun, and everything turns out so nicely, that you look around for things to coat-things that you probably shouldn’t be coating!

Great job martin ,took a week off to spray a rear bumper that had laquer peel ..... Job done and she was ever so grateful!!! Had a black plastic insert that i took off and used a heat gun to restore colour and it worked!!!!!😄😄😄😄😄😄

The powder coating always looks great; I especially like that green! The textured paint for the light fixture is very nice as well. You could probably paint a flat black over it, but I think it looks nice as is. Great work and always!

Top job Martin. I bought the same gun on your recommendation, its fantastic. I sandblasted an old axe and powdercoated it in candy purple over high chrome. It looks awesome!

Great video , as per usual Martin 👍.... ps have you ever seen the powder coating booths that have water running down the walls to catch the powder , like a urinal , , think that it could be easily made with a pond water pump.... looking forward to seeing the storm lamp on the other channel 👍

Martin, VHT make a 'wrinkle' finish paint in various colours and comes in a rattle can, which needs to be heat cured for the wrinkle effect. A very good product in itself, and will hide any minor imperfections on the surface.
I think they do a crinkle powder as well, I might try it one day.

Yes Chris, you set the pressure at 5 - 8 psi. Not a lot realy.
Looks great! I want to build a tank and some other parts for a motorised bicycle and this could be the ticket! While no the coating subject, have you ever heard of or seen spectra chrome? That's another coating that I am highly interested in! However it's rather expensive though! Maybe one day the price on that spectra chrome will come down, because what I want it for doesn't warrant saying that much! I want to paint die cast cars with it!
i have a high chrome as well. Its great.
I am so keen to get one of these kits but on the ol' disability is a bit of a hit but I got so much I would do from my PC case to steam engine parts and plenty on the Reliant that would be getting the treatment too so have said to daughters... for me birthday they can spraunce half each and make me happy :)

get some of the powder coating tape martin for masking off stuff i.e calipers etc heat proof tape its very handy mate gret videos keep em coming

Liking the videos mate, what grade grit do you use to get a good result before powder coating? I see you've bought some from Machine Mart.

Martin. Great video! Got a Canadian equivalent of that gun..packaging is not as nice but it looks 100% identical. What psi are you running? Looks like it uses the perfect amount of powder.
its very hard to be exact but its around 5 to 8 psi

Hello Martin. Your lamp looks like you might have dropped it on the walkway when it was still wet. LOL. I have a question about powder coating. Is it possible to mix colors, powders, to come up with your own color, or does it simply not work that way? Powder coating is definitely the way to go. It turns out really nice.
No, you can't mix the powders.
Lmao. If you have a metal washing line somewhere near the log cabin extractor, you might see a flock of Sparrows all lined up ready to get a new look for a Harlequin party 😂.

I've used a similar stone effect spray paint on some plastic planters which looked better than the original ones (and saved them from the tip).
What are you going to use the candy pink powder coating I saw on the shelf for Martin? (I'm intrigued).

Great vid, do you have to get the oven up to 180 before you put the parts in or can you put them in and bring it up to tempature
You can put them in sooner but they will be in for longer

Lovely colour, green is my favourite, I've had 5 green cars over the years. I think green cars are bought by people who look after them better.... you won't find boy racers in a green car.
