      Where can you get Silver to craft these? I want to eventually forge engagement rings and do stone settings, and I have yet to find the material I'm looking for

    I'm an absolute beginner at this and your videos have inspired me. I have no tools or equipment yet so once I have collected the essentials I will look forward to starting with a beaded stacking ring. 😊

    Great video! I took tour beginners and intermediate silver jewellery courses years ago, but didn't continue practising at home. This is a great way for me to get back into making silver jewellery. Thanks so much for sharing ❤

      Hello that's great, yes a good reminder and hopefully some inspiration to get making again. Thanks for watching and lovely to hear you came to London Jewellery School. What do you think you would like to make first? A ring?

    A great course! I did have a jewelry class but had to leave school early. This is a wonderful refresher but also you've covered more than I had before. I do a lot of beading, mixed with tatting, needle weaving and macrame so I have a lot of those tools; this will just give me more to do.

    Hi newbie here are you not supposed to quench the ring before pickle? I’m confused x

    • @JewellersAcademy
      @JewellersAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey lovely,
      You can quench before you pickle to cool down the piece or you can set it aside until it cools down x

    Can you use these techniques on different types of metal aswell, or is this exclusively for silver?

    Hi where did you purchase your beaded wire? Thank you :)

    • @JewellersAcademy
      @JewellersAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can find the beaded wire at www.cooksongold.com x

  • @jimboz1985
    @jimboz1985 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is there a reason you used the middle of the wire for this? I may have missed it in the video.
    It seems like if you’d wrapped your mandrel starting with the end of the wire and having a smaller overlap, there would have been enough wire cut off to make a second ring.
    Apart from that, i love your videos!

    • @JewellersAcademy
      @JewellersAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It helps to form a better circular shape if you use the middle of the wire and overlap the ends slightly. Rather than trying to form the shape using the very end of the wire. x

      @@JewellersAcademy what do you do with the small pieces of wire? Will those be useful for anything else?

    In what pickle do you put the ring? :)

    • @JewellersAcademy
      @JewellersAcademy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need a jewellers pickle - something like this...www.cooksongold.com/Precious-Metal-Clay/Picklean-Safe-Pickling-Powder-500g-prcode-855-1063&query=pickle&channel=uk x

      We get ours from Cookson Gold, they are a major supplier in the UK, in the USA Rio Grande is a good option (for any US friends that might see this). Happy Shopping!

    Never put your solder material on the bottom of your work....you want it to flow down through the work using gravity to pull it through and evenly adhere to all surfaces. Soldering 101...i will now go find a different video to watch where the person instructing has a clue what they are doing.

      I always like to walk through the tools and equipment first, it's important to have a good understanding. 😊
