Great demo. I started making jewelry about 30 years ago or so, and we did not have crimp beads. We used the clamshell bead tips, tied a couple of knots in our beading thread and fed them into the bead tips and close the bead tips up. To this day I still use this technique, and even have some of my first pieces that I made this way that I still wear.
Thank you so much. I have done it this way in the past but I find crimp beads so much easier. I'm always worried that my knots will come undone, especially when I use Tiger Tail. Do whatever makes you happy and works.
Same here. Sometimes the crimp bead does not hold.
I'm self taught and the way you just described is how I do it too. Because it works. Cool to know someone else does it this way too. 🙂
@@frankiefurbag9030 thank you. It's interesting that your crimp beads aren't holding. I wonder if you are squeezing them hard enough.
@@jessicaday9196 thank you. Do it the way that works best for you, that's my motto.
I love this video because it fills my need for an occasional refresher on finishing jewelry. Just a reminder on the basics. Like reading the card on a plane while the attendant tells you about belts, exits, bathrooms, etc.
Thank you, Judith. Yes, it's always good to watch the attendant for a refresher!
Totally agree. 🙂
Thank you.@@SuSang666
You are head and shoulders above the other jewelry instructors.
Oh, Linda, you are so kind. Thank you.
I love it that you tell us the sizes of the beads and crimp tubes. I can just call and order them!
Thank you, Cynthia. I'm glad you find that helpful.
This is the best tutorial I've ever watched on any project. You have a good voice, good delivery, clear details. Thank you.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
I agree! I just found her!
Thank you so much, Cheryl.
Your voice is lovely to listen to I found this tutorial very easy to follow! Thank you for posting, finishing off the ends neatly has been my bane. These tips are very helpful!
Thank you so much. I'm so pleased that you found this helpful.
Hi Carol. I just found your channel and subscribed. I love your comment about teaching people the "right" way to crimp. My philosophy is there is a theoretical way and a practical way. Theoretically, the "right" way to crimp is to crush twice. Practically, a single crush can secure the wire. If the end result is the same, then practically is as good as theoretically. Striving for perfection is a sure-fire way to take the joy out of a beginner's creative process. I think an experienced crafter will develop their own practical methods that work for them. And, hahahahah, on the crimp covers. I struggle with these lil forkers as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much, Fern. I really appreciate your comments about the "right way". I think, as a beginner, you just have to do whatever works. Once you're more experienced you can experiment with the different methods. Thank you for the subscription. Welcome to the community.

@@The_Stylish_Maker I have a ton of my great grandmother’s “costume jewelry” that my grandma gave me after she passed away. It’s all so beautiful to look at and yet it’s nothing I would really wear. You’ve given me so much inspiration and ideas of how to reconstruct so much of her jewelry into new pieces. Thank you again💞
@@cheri6785 oh that's fantastic. I really appreciate you tell me that too.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am new to making necklaces and these crimp beads, crimp tubes and clam shell covers have been confusing for me. This clarifies the procedure a little better and has given me a couple of options that I didn't even know I had. 👍😊
Thank you so much. I'm glad it was helpful.
Thank You for all your videos
You are an amazing teacher

👏🏼👍🏻I’ve just subscribed, & am so happy this channel showed up in my feed!! Thks so much for your last tip with using just a bead. I’ve never seen this technique before. I’ll be trying it soon.
Thank you so much for the subscribe, Kathy, and for commenting. I do love that technique too but I always forget to use it.
I have discovered your channel and I have found your tutorials very useful. I have been doing jewelery for many years and I am surprised at all the new ways of doing jewelry finishes. Thank you so much for all the new insight.
You are very welcome, Nicole. Thank you for watching.
Those crimp covers are my nemesis as well. Lol Those large hole beads to cover the crimp tube are great but with small bead designs it doesnt work as well. On large bead designs those work beautifully. That magical crimp tool is magical indeed. I've got to get one of those! Beautiful pieces and great demo. Thank you for sharing and reminding me how much I miss and love making jewelry.
Thank you so much, Kellie. You are very welcome. Yes, am in love with the magical crimper - I wonder what I did without it most days. Glad to know that others find crimp covers hard to use as well. I've had lots of people say the same thing. Thanks for watching.
I love this! Thank you so much ❤
Thank you. I'm glad you found this useful.
Boy am I glad I watched , when I use those clamshells with the hook, I was always trying to make a rolled loop, you just folded it, so much easier, all your tips are so useful and as always a great teacher.
Kirsten D Ont.Canada ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Kirsten. Lovely to hear from you again.
Thank you for your tips! This video just popped up in my feed out of the blue,so I decided to watch. Those crimp covers are the bane of my existence as well, glad to know that I'm not the only one who is less than fond of them, lol
Thank you so much, and for your support from a fellow crimp cover struggler! I avoid them like the plague.
I havent seen the bead bandit before. Thanks. I'll be looking for them now!
Thank you, Sharon. Yes, I found them quite by accident. You can purchase them on Amazon if you don't want to get them from us.
❤ thank you this is a good demo 😊
Thank you so much, Anita.
I've used these clams in the past and didn't think about placing them over a crimp bead. I used to wrap wire around a seed bead. Thank you so much for this helpful hint.
That's interesting, Karen. I have never done that but I can see how that could work too. Thank you for your comment.
I enjoyed your tutorial. I’ve been making jewelry for fun for 45 years. My friends and I would just wing it, hoping it would hold together. I am amazed with what is available to make jewelry with a professional touch. Thank you very much!
Thank you so much.
So so helpful. I am a beginner and you made it looks so easy. I've subscribed and given you the thumbs up! Thank you!
Thank you so much. Welcome. Much appreciated.
You did a great job of explain. Great teacher
Thank you so much, Gloria. I really appreciate that.
Wow, thank you for sharing!
You are welcome, Pat. Thank you.
Great video. I always hated the way crimp beads looked. I love that bead bandit!!! New subscriber!! I commented before the end but then I saw the larger crimp and I love it!! Will be getting one of those tools.
Thank you so much for the subscribe and for your comment. I love the bead bandit too. Yes, I love my magical crimping pliers. Here's another video I did about them. th-cam.com/video/UKnf5AFGNlQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WgSjhnzi1pED9h-x
Thanks for your tutorial, it was very helpful. It’s interesting that you mentioned the brand of your crimping tool at 5:00. I already have other pliers of that brand and I’ve always found them accurate and easy to use, so I’ll give them a try.
Thank you so much Mary-Kitty. Yes, I do find the Xuron pliers fairly easy to use but not as easy as my Magical Crimping Tool. I also have Xuron flush cutters and they are great too.
Thank you what a nice refresher, I've always just used crimp covers, but after seeing this I may have to give your #1 a try.
That's great Heather. There's so many options to choose from. Thank you.
Thank you. I had to stop beading for a few years and could not remember how to do this, you just squashed my mental frustration and I love your ideas on covering the crimp!!!
Oh that's fantastic. I'm so pleased that you found this useful.
Hi. I just want to say thank you for breaking down on the variety types of crimp bead covers. My favourite are the Magic Crimping Pliers. I had them for almost 10 years & it felt like yesterday when I first used it & squished my sterling silver crimp bead into a crumpled paper-like bead. It comes in 2 different sizes & 2 different types (1 for regular crimping beads & the other sterling silver beads). Thanks for sharing your video & have a wondrrful day.
Thank you, Trelelah Lee. I didn't know that you could get one for sterling silver crimps. That's good to know.
You saved the best technique for last. I thought for a minute there you were not going to mention your magical pliers. I love this tool so much & use it all the time. I've used crimp covers before & the clam cover thingie but not since I got a pair of magical crimping pliers. Once the bead is formed it doesn't cut into the tiger tail either which I thought it might but no its as strong as anything. Thank you for all your tips, tricks & tutorials they're just the best.
Thank you so much. I couldn't talk about crimping without the Magical Crimping Tool! It's always my favourite. I concerned that it might not be as strong initially but I actually think it's stronger. And it looks so pretty.
love the last option, I'm def doing more of my jewelry this way!
That's great, Stephanie. Thank you.
This is a great video - so many great ideas!!!! Thank you!!!!!! 😍
Thank you so much. I'm glad you found this one useful.
Have just starting watching and enjoying your videos and detailed instructions.

I've never heard of the bead bandits before. Thanks for all these tips.
You are very welcome, Monica. Thank you.
I enjoy learning different techniques. Love the tutorial. I don't use many crimps because I usually make jewelry with copper wire. Great to know for future reference.
Thank you so much.
❤Thank you so much, very clear and easy to understand to follow the instructions.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you found this helpful.
Thank you so much! I did not know there was different kinds of crimp covers! Awesome video!
