- We recently tried out Apple’s tvOS and it’s far better than the Android TV experience, be it in terms of features, experience, apps, search, multitasking and more. In this video, we compare Apple tvOS vs Android TV to show the massive difference.

Amazon Fire TV experience
1. Stock Android's cast screen doesn't work well with Amazon's Fire TV's cast, now I switched to MIUI (Mi phone) which now works with Amazon seamlessly.
2. After the Fire tv update they blew up the user experience. They changed the UI completely which is not good as it used to.
Mi TV Android experience
1. Used Mi TV's Android based os which works well with Mi TV remote in smartphone which really useful feature.
2. Feel like the UI is difficult to use for old people unlike Fire tv UI.
As I am Software Dev, the reason behind apple TV's apps looks universally same, because Apple forces developers to make apps like that other wise they won't publish your apps, but google doesn't!
What's wrong in that? Atleast the end user gets a uniform experience throughout the OS.

Consistent ux is better any day, i mean think if UPI was not there and you had to have every wallet so that you could transact with the shopkeepers.
In addition if apple is enforcing a similar ui, then pretty sure they will be happening an API for that (at least for ui which you can later connect with your backend logic), so developers don't have to write all of it again and again.
If not then yes it's a pain, but at the end a common ux is much much more useful as an end-user.
PS - am also a developer.

Infact the Apple TV App works like a charm on my LG Tv. Never experienced such damn optimised app. Apple seriously kills with their optimisation in every department 🔥🔥🔥

True, I have downloaded Apple TV+ app on my MiTV and this is the smoothest app working on an android TV. This is the level of optimisation that apple does 🔥🔥🔥. Literally it is more smoother than Netflix app.

Well, it is ill informed. Chrome Cast enabled Android TVs can also be remote controlled using the Google Home app on a phone...everything from cursor motion to voice search, to keyboard.

On my lg tv(webos) the apple tv+ app works seamless but every other app even the UI feels littel inconsistent and the best part is TV is 4K but whole UI is 1080p upscaled.
Only difference is the price ... I am happy with my 25,000 4k android tv & 15,000 mobile...
which 4k tv comes for 25k?

apple tv is for 15k-20k. i dont think it is expensive.

As an Android tv user,I really can't understand why Google didn't enable recent app for switching between apps like tizen os.. It's high time Google give some importance to Android tv os.But remote feature & typing via phone is really improved now & no complaint about the same.
Apple's biggest marketing is their user. user experience .. something google doesn't care or don't bother

Meanwhile on Tizen tv os(2019 Samsung Ru7100 43inch 4K), Well everything works well for me even was able to switch between spotify and netflix without reloading(but if turned off/on everything start to reload). I dont notice lags.
I have a very positive experience with Tizen as well. If you get a good TV you don't need a TV box

To me, searching on android tv doesn't have not much of a problem as i connect with a cheap keyboard. But the best feature i like on apple tv that i wish google integrate on its tv is the multitasking option. The remote features is a bonus. But to be expected on that price range.

@beebomco thank you! Your observations are so relatable. These are all the issues which frustrate me when using Fire TV/Android TV. I've decided to jump to the Apple TV 4K, especially since it's available in Black Friday sale for 80 USD. Could you please let me know if there are any issues in setting up or using the Apple TV without any other iOS device at home? I do have a MacBook Pro from work but all other devices are non-Apple.
Apple waits for a few years, learn what users want, integrates the best , gives the best experience, and simply conquers the market. Android and Google associated products are turning just into a scapegoat for apple to learn what can be done and what users want.
Apple tv OS came when there was no such thing as Android tv. It used to be just Chromecast. Apple TV, Roku TV and fire stick are the 3 main smart devices in USA.

@@user-jc8zm6ef8p Well if integrated call recording (which can easily be added with a software update if Apple ever will) is such a deal breaker for you, that’s alright. Not sure if you’ve noticed but there’s obviously a photos gallery in there, lol. A Files app, as well.
I recently switched to TV from the fire stick and the experience is mind blowing, I don’t have to deal with ad’s on the Home Screen interface and the performance is blazing fast and snappy

Lol ikr! Don't these reviewers know nothing about the concept of pricing and value for money? The Apple TV 4k is 20k whereas Fire TV Stick 4k is 4.5k. And as for the desire to bring the same experience over to Android TV OS it's just not possible. The price jump will alienate it's money consciousness consumer base.

Shield TV has recent apps by double clicking home button and does bitstream of Atmos and DTS-X on Plex which Apple TV doesn't. I do agree with the more unified UI.

Can't say how practical this is. One can just press the left/right arrow buttons.
The feature about controlling the TV and typing from phone has been improved quite a bit with Google TV and Google Home application.
Then again, it is still not as polished as apple TV.

actually when xiaomi launched their mi tvs it had multitasking features but after the update it suddenly got dissapeared
So I recently switched to apple tv and I have been loving it. Though my reasons for switching were completely different and probably something many others could relate to. A good chunk of the Indian consumer base are buying affordable 4k smart tvs like I did, but the problem with these devices is that their HDR sucks (with very low peak brightness to support such content). With all the OTT platforms now coming up with HDR content, my content consuming experience just deteriorated significantly over time. Unfortunately, android tv os and fire stick does not allow to disable HDR completely which is something Apple TV provides flexibility in (along with Jio Set up box which is like the only other option in India but the experience is far worse). It's been over a month that I got the apple tv and I've been really happy with the performance and since I'm heavily invested in the apple ecosystem, my tv watching experience has improved significantly.
Same. I have an 2021 Macbook Pro M1 Pro , Iphone 11 , Apple TV and a homepod mini (most of the products are passed from my brother and dad lol)... The ecosystem is like heaven... Everything is smooth like butter and seamless..
How are you using jio set top box and Apple TV together. Does app subscribed in jio ott 999 plan , work when switched to Apple TV ? Although Apple TV is fast but if u r using android based tv connected to Apple TV , switching on android tv itself takes 5 mins. Ultimately experience remains the same ?
@@genuinereviews310 subscription works in any platforms. Eg; if I subscribed to prime from my android tv box, I can log in to apple tv box with the same credentials to enjoy prime.

How does Apple TV has universal player settings for different apps when all apps have their own version? Did apple put that condition to diff apps or how?
Yes, they don't publish apps otherwise. Thats why many apps are not available on Apple TV, and even ones that are available may not have all the features their Android apps may have

That multitasking convinced me for the Apple TV
The only Problem I have with Android TV is except for Nvidia Shield (not available in India), nothing comes close to performance of AppleTV.
The best option you have in India is Mi Box and after a year it starts lagging a bit after getting updates cause it is very small and clearly doesn't have much computing power.
Once Big players like Samsung or Microsoft or Google launch their full fledged TV Box to compete with AppleTV, it is not gonna work out, cause there is absolutely no competition to Mi Box which stops the innovation process.
Rest is all good, yes the color calibration and touch remote would be good to have.
If anybody is wondering about the bg music. It’s scatterbrained by matt large.
Honestly, I don't think this iOS makes much of a difference, it is just matter of time you get use to different user interfaces

Apple TV is good, but for that you need to be in the Apple ecosystem. Apple TV makes sense for a person who is invested already in the Apple ecosystem.

Android TV does have multitasking though. You double press the home button. I guess it depends on the device/tv. Works seem-lessly on my shield TV.

You are late beebom. The remote control in android phone is their in new google tv app and you can also search using your phone as a keyboard and also you can search and play from the phone app itself. You can find trackpad too

One huge thing I noticed coming from a fire stick 4k to the Apple TV was sound quality. I have a home theater (discrete speakers, no sound bars or anything like that) and man it made a HUGE difference. Even though both claim to be Dolby Atmos ready, the Apple TV sounds so much better. Everything is more open, sounds are easily pin pointed and not just "over there or over here". Clarity is better, resolution is better. Just better in every way. Makes sense, garbage in, garbage out. If you have even a 5.1 system, or like me and have a 5.2.2 system or better, do yourself a favor and upgrade!

I have a lg tv which has almost every feature that tvos. has I can type from my phone and there is a universal search feature in lg webos but it lacks universal video player and I can only type in search box when the app uses lg keyboard so not every app uses lg keyboard

It can. Because the apple TV has a feature that if you have an iPhone, you can use that to calibrate the display.

The great thing about Apple is that they always overkill hardware and no one, no one makes software as polished as Apple. Thats the difference.
Pretty much all android TV comes with a crappy 1.5GHz quad core mediatek processor, just to get the job done where A12 in the new tvOS makes sure each and every single frame is perfectly rendered.
The prices my friend. You can get Android TV sticks as low as 3k while apple is overkill on price too amongst other thinfs
I mean no doubt Apple TV is smooth, lag free and the UI too is all great but what you're ignoring is the price tag. Apple TV costs 5-7x more than the Android TV stick/box depending upon whether it's 1080p or 4k. I mean you maybe find it suitable to spend 15-20k on a streaming box but a lot of don't want something that expensive. So it's a spectrum, the Android TV devices can easily be bought at lower prices but obviously you'll get cheaper hardware, not high end processors for 2k rupees. Apple is able to provide you with top shelf hardware because their price is top shelf too.
