It doesn't matter if you are in the Apple ecosystem or not, but Apple TV is a must-have for every home. This product is so underrated; whoever hasn't used it will never understand what a gem it is.
It is a game changer. I bought mine in 2020 and was surprised how it never occurred to me to buy one before that. Definitely the easiest fix if you don't have a smart TV or one with horrible UI (like mine).
I bought 2 Apple TV 4Ks in 2017 that still work like they’re right out of the box. I updated both of the remotes to the newest one, but other than that they are still perfect. Apple engineering is just top notch.
I’d say the Apple TV is the biggest Apple sleeper product. Picked up my first in 2016 and it still functions like the day I bought it. AND still gets the most recent updates 🤯 The UI, features and navigation is top notch👌
Grabbing the Apple TV 4K was a game changer for me. While LG's WebOS is decent for the most part, I keep running into some random bug where I would randomly lose the sound for no reason at all. None of the diagnostics or troubleshooting that LG recommended helped. The only fix was resetting the TV (LG C2 42inch) back to factory settings but even then the same issue would happen again in a few days. A $1000+ TV shouldn't come with bugs like this and after a few months I got fed up and grabbed the Apple TV 4K. It was quite abit of money but well worth the price of admission. Zero bugs, smooth UI, able to use my AirPods 3 and AirPods Max for private listening and finally syncing with a pair of HomePod 2s through eARC for the best minimalist Dolby Atmos set-up (no noticeable lag even during PS5 and Xbox Series X gameplay). One of Apple's most underrated products IMO. That said, will you be doing a long term review of the Google Nest Wifi Pro? Thinking of upgrading to one of those to replace my aging Google Wifi mesh set=-up.
Me too, I think Ig has the best os in of these tvs, yes tizen would have been much better with my samsung mobile but still I don't wanna be trapped in a ecosystem and boy yet do I find mine unbearable sometimes mines got lg's a7 processor in it, not the best nor the worst but it lags so bad on Disney+ and only Disney+ for some reason, If I ever, use the magic remote it just freezes up 3:16 , soo annoying.
I switched to Apple TV 4K at the beginning of this year, and it’s been great. The smart TV OS was just pausing so much on live content. I tested the same app on my iPad and experienced zero issues. Even when the TV was connected to Ethernet vs Wi-Fi on iPad. So I took the leap and have not regretted it at all.
I only use Apple TV. The combination of it plus my AirPods Max is incredible. Especially watching movies at night so I don’t wake up anyone. The Dolby atmos works so well with my AirPods Max. Plus the integration with my iPhone and search is so good.
@@ThatGuy-qg4wwyour lg is a spy machine. You can’t use it without signing over you privacy. They are the worst. I just didn’t signup and just used ATV and an input and bypass the LGwebos entirely.
I really wish that TV manufacturers would offer their "smart" TV's without the "smarts". I.E., essentially just a monitor for use with my Apple TV & Mac Mini. I realize I could just use a computer monitor, but they're not really available in sizes larger than 32" or so.
Smart tvs were a game changer when they first came out & that’s what everyone wanted to so they stopped making regular tvs😅 even though they start to run very slow after awhile
One feature that I think is HIGHLY underrated is the fact that you can use AirPlay on the apple tv to turn any display into a second monitor for a mac. Also you can seamlessly screen mirror the entire OS or just one video from ipad, iphone, or mac.
Granted, all of my TVs are still good old “dumb” TVs (I’m running my Panasonic plasmas until they die), but even if I were in the market for a brand new TV today, I would either try to find a non-smart TV, or if that isn’t an option, I’d buy the TV with the best reviewed picture quality and disable all the smart features. The data mining and ads make them a nonstarter, and I’ve never seen a built in smart TV OS that is as fluid and feature packed as Apple TV. All of the points you made are spot on, the high quality of the OS combined with the deep integration with other Apple products make this by far the best way to get content. Even if you don’t use an iPhone it’s still one of the best streaming boxes available.
Totally agree! I didn’t think much of it before I watched your video this morning but my Apple TV’s are probably my most used home devices next to maybe my Mac.
Having been the IT person for my past job and having to support all of the conference rooms and TVs I have found that Most "Smart" TVs are pretty dumb. They are exactly as you have noted her, but they also really stink at managing peripherals (AppleTVs, Roku Boxes, and other external sources). They would randomly disconnect and be forgotten and the auto-detect and setup for them are horrible. Huge sources like AppleTVs would just never auto-setup with their software. Basic users are hosed by them. We have a couple AppleTVs at home and we love them. Frictionless and easy to use when you want to do anything on them. Great video.
I bought two new Samsung OLED tvs this year and got Apple TV 4K for both of em day 1. Now every tv in my house has one and it’s so good and easy to watch and do things. Love it!
Ads on Smart TVs make too much money. PC monitors still come with basic adjustment options, but that's not what people are looking for. Unless you live in a shoebox apartment or a dorm
I completely agree but unfortunately the smart functionality subsidizes the cost. They want your data and will charge the bare minimum on the display to get it. We are so cooked.
I have owned an Apple TV 4K since when it first came out. It really like it. I grew up with broadcast, than cable TV so having a TV flooded with ads is nothing new. Everything I use on the Apple TV just work for me. I have had no issues with using it. If you are waiting for the next version of the hardware, don't bother. The currrent hardware works just fine.
"Congrats on enjoying your Apple TV 4K, but let me tell you this: it's like settling for a mediocre movie experience when you could have a blockbuster. Sure, it might work fine for you, but have you ever experienced the sheer joy of watching a movie on a high-end Blu-ray player? It's like comparing a grainy black-and-white film to a vibrant, crystal-clear 4K masterpiece. I mean, why settle for less when you can have the best? So before you get too attached to that Apple TV, remember: the true home theater experience comes in blue."
Had my apple tv for almost 2 years now and I’ve loved it. I’m never using a smart tv os again. The most underrated feature in my opinion is the portability. You can take it to a hotel or anywhere you travel and it takes up a minimal amount of space allowing you to easily bring all your shows and streaming platforms with you when you’re on the go.
I've had my Apple TV 4K for 9 months now...I'll never go back to NOT having one. It's an absolute AMAZING replacement for the generic smart tv software that's usually buggy and extremely limited. 🔥
I bought an Apple TV a few years ago for my 65 inch Panasonic plasma, which has a beautiful screen and preferable to my 4K TVs. Like you said, streaming on the native 4K TV apps became buggy. So I got Apple TVs for those. Great video! Thank you.
I have a Roku ultra that works real good, but there’s no Citytv app, or CTV News app. Is the ctv news network on the app? And do the apps on Apple TV bloat up with cache like they do on the iPad? If they do, do you have to delete them to install them? And, do you need an iPhone to set up an Apple TV?
You don't need an apple device to set it up, but you need to make an account from what I know. Also any streaming apps you'd find on an iPhone would pretty much work on Apple TV.
Since you have multiple Apple TVs now, one underutilized feature is under Settings - Users and Accounts - Default User - One Home Screen. Toggle this option ON on all of your Apple TVs and you’ll have a uniform interface of apps and streaming sources on all of your TVs. Isn’t a uniform user interface what Apple was best at back in the day?
Works perfectly fine with the included remote and you don't need a phone for anything as you can use the remote to do all tasks. Controlling it with the phone is a nice bonus, but not a deal breaker. I think I've use my iPhone with my two Apple TV boxes maybe twice and both were for passwords that were long winded to put in with the remote. It basically saved me some time. The Apple TV can remember passwords, so once you have gone through that process and set up your apps, you won't have to revisit it in most cases. In your situation, you would just have to use the remote for that initial setup, which will take you a little longer. The other benefits of the box, make it worth putting up with that pain point during setup in my opinion. Also the new remotes the Apple TV come with now, also support Siri and voice control for many functions as an option. Nice bonus. BTW you will have to setup an Apple account for some things, but you don't need an Apple computer or iPhone to do that. They are seriously good things and the picture quality out of them is excellent.
Happy to see this video cuz ive always had the same chromecast for 8 or 9 years now, needed a new one, bought whatever the newest chromecast is, and it was awful. So bad that i just put the old one back in my 13 year old tv lol. I have all apple devices so i thought this would be the better choice, just wanted to see another of your videos about it. Now its settled! I must buy a new TV and the apple tv! Thank you!
My FireTV and FireTV stick are SO inconsistent. I had the original one, now I'm giving in to Apple again, and it's because of 1:17--the same reason I use Macs and iPads. They just feel better. The user experience is superior.
I completely agree with you! Ever since purchasing the Apple TV 4K 3rd gen, I’ve had such a smooth experience with my tv. I’m planning on purchasing a new tv and already know I’ll be getting one right alongside it.
I've had the AppleTV 4k 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation boxes. The hardware has never failed, never lagged, or ever been a hassle to set up. It integrates Apple music and video purchases seamlessly and provides a bit more functionality vs Apple on a Android based OS. When they moved away from iTunes to TV and Music apps, there were some issues accessing my Apple library, but support is just a text or phone call away.
If your TV has eARC then you can connect the apple tv to your TV and then the TV to your soundbar. If your TV doesn't have eARC then connect to your soundbar first, and then soundbar to the TV. PS also check which HDMI version is there on the passthrough. It should be atleast HDMI 2.0 and not lower.
Just came across your channel and was pleasantly surprised with the production quality. The snappy montage of B-roll must have been tedious to capture and time-consuming to edit, but it certainly makes for a much more pleasurable experience than a 10-minute-long talking head video. Thanks for the content and keep up the fine work!
Hundreds of complaints online of Apple TV owners experiencing popping and crackling sounds as well as audio dropouts when watching streaming shows on all brands of TV, myself included. They won't allow me to return the unit, so I'm replacing it. I use HDMI 2.1 cables and have tried several to no avail.
Kyle, thank you for creating this fantastic video! It’s refreshing to see someone finally addressing TV OS issues. Personally, I own an LG OLED TV for my entertainment room, a Sony TV for the family room, and a Samsung TV for my master bedroom. I completely agree with your observation that each TV OS can be clunky when it comes to usability. Additionally, streaming directly via the TV isn’t as smooth as using the Apple TV App. The picture quality on Apple TV is noticeably better, especially considering that I still have two Apple TV 4K devices from 2017. I often recommend Apple TV to my friends, and I even gifted one to my friend’s father. He’s extremely satisfied, especially when streaming catch-up TV. For streaming, I rely heavily on my Apple TV and keep other TV OS interfaces clean for live TV viewing. Regarding network connectivity, I’ve meticulously Cat6 cabled my house, with separate cables for the master bedroom and entertainment room. Each point has its own router in a mesh network, and my Apple TV in the entertainment room is connected via an Ethernet cable. I believe this setup significantly enhances the streaming experience.
I didn't even know this until this year, but on Google TV, you can turn off ads completely(not including in-app ads), as a native setting. It's amazing
I doubt I’ll get a response but I was wondering my tv has the Apple TV app and I was wondering if it’s any different then the actual Apple TV box and if it would be worth buying the actual Apple TV box or if I should just use the application on the tv
Only one problem, no audio out from the apple TV. It's only HDMI and I required, for now, an audio out, like SPDIF. Any suggestion, what to do in my case?
Either use bluetooth if possible, or if your audio device has HDMI passthrough, then use that for audio, and the passthrough for video. (or if your TV has eARC then you can passthrough audio from the TV itself)
Never thought I could be pried away from Roku. I got one of these on the recommendation of a coworker because my living room tv kept crashing. Now I have 2, with relatively new tvs because the experience of use is just so so much better. With this I am confident I am getting the best performance out of my television. AppleTV has it quirks, it seems to hate my Vizio soundbar but otherwise I wouldn’t go back unless this product was discontinued.
The one thing to think about using external smart box is that TV processing features might not work on them. For example Sony XR clear or new Alpha 11 LG G4 OLED might only do some of it's processing on internal apps in their Smart OS. Not sure how much of a thing that is, just that it has been shown at times that things can look different between an AppleTv or Shield vs internal smart TV processing.
Apple TV is sooooo limiting relative to a Shield or Firecube even. Those other devices run faster, have superior app variety (including sideloading) which is critical for running things like Kodi, Tivimate, emulators etc and can just do so much more. Apple TV 4K is like having an iPhone, you're basically playing with a fisher price device while wearing a straight jacket. Great for the grandparents, but pretty weak for most others IMO.
@@KyleErickson It's entirely reasonable IMO. Not to mention better format support and the kicker is, they're every bit as user friendly. I fail to see what Apple's device even brings to the table other than being better than a Roku and having a clean interface (at the expense of not being able to do much with it, like most Apple products).
it seems that apple tv can be a great upgrade to the traditional operating systems in smart tvs, but what happens when i want to add cable to my tv? do i have to log out of apple tv? what happens when i decide to watch on my local news network that isnt compatible with apple tv? do i exit apple tv?
My biggest issue with at least LG’s WebOS on the C2, is that if I want to check something while streaming through for example the Netflix app, I go to a HDMI-input and then want to go back to the Netflix app, it has to reload the entire thing. So no multitasking at all basically. It should at least be able to keep one app in memory when you are switching to HDMI-inputs, but nope. So yeah, Apple TV ftw. Not to mention issues with HDR/DV if you have Plex. Infuse on ATV is just flawless here.
Yes I can’t work out how to do the switching when I’m watching my LG C2 & need to go to another HMDI I put, I can’t go back without it having to reload.
thx for this video. maybe I miss something but it is possible to use the split screen feature with all content or only sports content through official sport app ? ?
I bought one a year ago to use with my old Samsung non smart 55" TV and it is great. I have no desire to "upgrade" to a smart tv at all. everything just works from streaming from my old MacBook, NAS server and PC to running apps with no stutters whatsoever.
Just bought my Apple TV 4K platform yesterday, you are so right about spending a little time to play with it. I was so upset when I tried it with my TH-camtv sub, and on my Sony a95L tv. It took me a while to figure out guide and channel lineup, this thing is a beast. It’s so fast that my responses can’t keep up, with the processing. I now love it, I’m still trying to figure the best resolution setting for SDR since most regular programming is stuck in BC! I hope more people check this video out it is dead on Apple 4k is a lifesaver, looking forward to all the extra capabilities I haven’t even scratch the surface yet! Thank you again
I've an old "smart" Samsung TV and the software is absolutely awful and completely useless. The picture is great tho. We have an older chromecast and streaming is meh, sometimes works and sometimes definitely doesn't. I've been looking at getting a streaming device and this video helps a lot!! I do not wanna spend &1k ish for a new tv if it's n don't have to. I'm thinking of going with Apple TV. Can more than one person go to their own environments? vs one/primary user?
I’m starting to purchase a lot of iTunes movies and watching them through Apple TV. How do I create more storage space for movies? I’m talking about if I reach 300 and more if I’ve run into storage issues Thank you .
Question: With the Apple Event on the 10th of June coming up, would it make a big difference to wait if there will be an upgrade of the Apple TV? Maybe the 4th gen. I'm eager to buy an Apple TV system, but I'm not sure if waiting and maybe even paying more for an upgraded one makes more sense. Thanks in advance
Just buy a Google chromecast with Google TV does the same stuff. I have had both Apple TV and Google chromecast but the google device is just as Nice to use, and Way cheaper Personally i think the ui on google TV is nicer than the Apple one, it is also as fast😁 . If you want the premium experience Google also just released the Google streamer with Google TV😃
I am very much still a media pc type of person. (Not that d+ or prime video gives you good quality on a pc) But mpv is such a powerful media player, add in shaders, upscaleing, and many other advanced settings. (Like dynamic tone mapping for hdr) Atv is more locked down than even ios and is just a huge hassle for me to work with. But it does have some very useful features like audio format shifting and a atmos decoder? (Mac can decode atmos to high channel pcm but mabye not atv) I guess the airpod features are cool if your in the apple ecosystem but I am extremely sensitive to audio latency and Bluetooth dosen't really cut it. (Although you can delay it out and that's mostly fine for media consumption that isn't live.) The whole home media space is a mess. Expessaly now that audio is expected to be carried over hdmi. Hq audio and vrr at the same time is very expensive to get now. Cec is still mostly a mess. Modern displays all seem to have earc now but a few years ago high end displays only had arc causing more configuration issues. Streaming services 4k distribution only comes in locked ways with weird requirements that causes signal processing to essentially be a no go and most things that work or are the distribution formats are stuck behind licenses. Like hdmi 2.1 essentially being broken on Linux because of the licensing changes from the hdmi standard.
I have a pre 4k and a 4k AppleTV and I love the picture quality of the 4k, but HATE that the stupid control center pops up ALL the damn time for no damn reason. I ish I could turn it off/disable it completely.
Something I love about my Apple TV 4K outside of all the stuff you said here, Moonlight streaming from my gaming PC (running Sunshine) and native Tailscale support (can even work as your hub allowing direct access to your LAN for devices not supported by Tailscale natively).
Have Apple TV on all our TVs. It’s so easy now for my family, same remote, same OS, and it works very fast, and NO ads. The idea that an expensive has ads is ridiculous.
I have yet to find a single good reason for TVs to have a dedicated, integrated OS that needs to be maintained by a company, that doesn’t focus on or even care for OS development. Any monitor with appropriate resolution, color range and refresh rate would be a much better option. Then any user can choose and swap the OS and usable apps by adding a device like Apple TV and update that - or replace the device with another one if needs or preferences change. To me that feels like having to buy a new monitor if you swap a PC’s OS or replace it with a Mac.
Hey can you do a video on how to do a watch party on this thing? Me and some friends wanted to do it and couldn’t figure it out. I’ve seen other videos but it’s been a few years old and the layout look way different and even following the instructions doesn’t seem to work for us.
I'm a former iPhone and former Mac user, but still like the Apple TV quite a bit. The ad-free part is good, and the radios in them for Wi-Fi are second to none.
I completely agree,I used to watch Netflix on my 2014 Sony Smart tv system (without Android) and it was laggy and not good. I bought a Fire Tv 4K first gen and situation didn’t improve that much, plus it was riddled with ads. I managed to find an Apple TV 4K first gen with A10X chip and it was really a great experience. I said was because I don’t have it anymore. I gave it to my mum and I bought the last gen with A15 chip. It costs a bit but the experience is really great and I cannot live anymore without my Apple TV 4K.
I'm curious about actual streaming performance, like how often and quickly they get to the top mbps. Apple's TV+ seems particularly challenging here, at its top bitrate it has a higher quality stream than most mainstream services, but the double edged sword with that is lesser streamers like some TVs built in Roku's struggle to get that high bitrate and it ends up looking worse than 480p for some stretches. My PS5 does much better but it still has that very low quality start of the stream unlike every other service. Not sure if an Apple TV 4K would help, or a Google Streamer would be fine here.
I recently purchased a 55” Toshiba TV with Fire TV built in. I used to rely on Apple TV specifically for my iTunes music and playlists plus purchased TV shows and movies. Just a few weeks ago, I started using it for everything and think it’s great! The upgraded remote is so much easier to use than the TV remote however, I do have to use it to mute the volume, or reduce the Apple Remote by holding the down volume button.. I can deal with that one minor drawback.
TBH if you still haven't bought an apple TV, its better to not buy it, and rather use that money to increase the budget for your TV. And later on you can then upgrade to an apple tv
Buying Apple tv 4k was the second best Apple product i bought after Apple watch ultra. Was very hesitating before buying it but one day i wake up i decided to buy it with pair of HomePod for the full experience and i become addicted to the smoothest experience i ever had. thank Kyle for the recommendation you was one of the reason i get one !
I recently purchased a S89C Samsung and I have zero issues with the built in Tizen OS. I still have a older x900e Sony with Android and it is absolutely horrible.
My one quirk with my 2017 4k is airplay is not the best. Doesn’t always go full screen and fails sometimes , which is odd, but other than that it’s perfect so many years later.
i preach to so many people to get one. especially if you have and iphone or multiple apple products its just such a smooth basically flawless experience. I use mine with 4 minis in 2 stereo pairs and a full size homepod "center" channel and the audio/video experience is bar none for the price. Theres nothing better.
I decided to go this route many, many years ago, as having "smart TV functionalty" built in to my TV always seemed to be terrible in many ways compared to just using an Apple TV for streaming-apps and such. Since I also have a decent sound bar, my dream TV could just be a high quality 85 inch screen with no speakers in it. And no smart TV functionality at all. As long as it supports everything I need when it comes to showing HDR content in decent framerates for games and movies, with low latency/input lag, I'm all good.
You forgot one of the best features about having multiple Apple TVs. You can set them up as " One Screen" which means all your Apple TVs apps and order of apps will be synced across all your Apple TVs. Also setting up a new Apple TV couldn't be easier when you use an iPhone and it just sets up mirroring your other or previous Apple TVs. I had 2 Apple TVs fry from a power outage a few months ago, and replacing them was simple and setup was basically automatic, other than having to re-login to some subscriptions. That is a lot easier though with Keychain login and it remembers logins and TV Provider subscriptions for a lot of apps.
I own an 2023 LG 4k OLED. It uses WebOS for the SmartTV functionality. I have never used it. I have an HDMI input from my Denon Receiver which I use to switch between am Apple TV and an XBox Series X.
The Picture quality after colour calibration and Sound quality with the same speakers is far superior, not to forget the lag issues with Bluetooth soundbars this device just makes it totally lag free! I have Apple TVs on all my TVs and I am the happiest person on the planet after having to suffer the ridiculously slow software and glitchy apps on most android TVs. This device basically converts your TV display into an Apple device with its superior app experience et all.
I love my Apple TV and even had the very first model. I see no reason to update the hardware regularly as it works just fine. The last upgrade when I bought a 4K TV. The interface is the biggest benefit for me.
Apple tv is a no brainer. Air pods work with them, ui is snappy and responsive, built in screensaver is cool, you can live view your homekit cameras.

One feature that I think is HIGHLY underrated is the fact that you can use AirPlay on the apple tv to turn any display into a second monitor for a mac. Also you can seamlessly screen mirror the entire OS or just one video from ipad, iphone, or mac.
Does this include being able to scroll thru apps like Facebook and TikTok?
@@anniedh600yes, it mirrors iPhone, iPad and Mac screen, so whatever there’s one your device’s screen, you’ll watch it one the TV.
This video made me take the plunge. I’m so glad I bought one. It makes my LG 4K TV feel like a whole new unit. So buttery smooth. Perfect. ❤
Fantastic aren’t they?!
Your comment sounds confusing. Please elaborate for clarity?
Is it useful if it is set on an Android-based environment ? Would it be worth buying on this situation?
I think just for the experience alone without all the ecosystem features, it's worth it IMO
I bought two new Samsung OLED tvs this year and got Apple TV 4K for both of em day 1. Now every tv in my house has one and it’s so good and easy to watch and do things. Love it!
I wish TV's would drop the "Smart" function, and just focus on being a top tier display
Yes! And do away with built in speakers.
@ I don’t know what it is. But I always seem to get a response from the super high def audio video snobs. I have what works for me. So whatever.
People dont understand just how much better the AppleTV is. There is absolutely NO Ads on it and its fantastic!! It runs sooooo fluid!
Home automation is the biggest thing that I use mine for that you didn't mention. Love that it supports HomeKit / Matter and Threads.
Admittedly, I haven't got into home automation much, but I'd like to start more. It's just tough to keep up with everything, all at once haha
Thanks for the video :) .. I really want to buy an apple tv but i don't know if i should wait for the next gen or buy it now? Thanks
A new one is due before July, according to reliable rumors. It is also rumored to be less expensive with a $99 option.
@@Scalptrash Thanks i will wait so 🤓
I bought an Apple TV a few years ago for my 65 inch Panasonic plasma, which has a beautiful screen and preferable to my 4K TVs. Like you said, streaming on the native 4K TV apps became buggy. So I got Apple TVs for those. Great video! Thank you.
should I wait for the next apple tv? I want to use it for gaming
no new one for this year
I have a Roku ultra that works real good, but there’s no Citytv app, or CTV News app.
Is it still worth getting even if you don't use any apple products? I just have an android phone.
Will it make my oled tv better?
It sure will. My OLED was a boring nightmare until I bought an Apple TV 4K.
Is it safe to transfer your Apple TV to different devices?
Hi All, would the size matter when all you doing is streaming? 64GB vs 128GB, thanks
Nope. Both are equal in terms of performance. Only difference is of ethernet
Can you use it as a tuner for digital terrestrial TV?
I've had the AppleTV 4k 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation boxes. The hardware has never failed, never lagged, or ever been a hassle to set up. It integrates Apple music and video purchases seamlessly and provides a bit more functionality vs Apple on a Android based OS. When they moved away from iTunes to TV and Music apps, there were some issues accessing my Apple library, but support is just a text or phone call away.
Should I connect to my soundbar or direct to TV? Hmdi ports on TV are in use.
I have four TV's in my house, and I have an Apple TV on each of them. The experience is totally worth the money.
The only issue I have with the Apple TV is audio sync. I've tried everything and still can't get it to work properly with certain apps.
Hundreds of complaints online of Apple TV owners experiencing popping and crackling sounds as well as audio dropouts when watching streaming shows on all brands of TV, myself included. They won't allow me to return the unit, so I'm replacing it. I use HDMI 2.1 cables and have tried several to no avail.
strange! I've never had any issues over here - good to know, thanks for sharing!
How does the upscaling of the Apple TV compare to that of a Sony TV?
I didn't even know this until this year, but on Google TV, you can turn off ads completely(not including in-app ads), as a native setting. It's amazing
I doubt I’ll get a response but I was wondering my tv has the Apple TV app and I was wondering if it’s any different then the actual Apple TV box and if it would be worth buying the actual Apple TV box or if I should just use the application on the tv
they're two very different things - that's kind of like asking if you should by a TV or a Netflix subscription.
5:29 Are you using an app to get the split screen functionality?
yeah, it's in-app
@@KyleErickson What app is it?
Great for the grandparents, but pretty weak for most others IMO.
sounds reasonable
@@KyleErickson It's entirely reasonable IMO. Not to mention better format support and the kicker is, they're every bit as user friendly. I fail to see what Apple's device even brings to the table other than being better than a Roku and having a clean interface (at the expense of not being able to do much with it, like most Apple products).
👍
will jabra ear pods work with apple tv?
I think anything will connect via bleutooth, should be fine
I just bought a Samsung TV and hate the UI I think this is what I need
it seems that apple tv can be a great upgrade to the traditional operating systems in smart tvs, but what happens when i want to add cable to my tv? do i have to log out of apple tv? what happens when i decide to watch on my local news network that isnt compatible with apple tv? do i exit apple tv?
But can you install kodi and stream all the pirate stuff.
This will be app specific
Also a home hub for automation and matter enabled.
I’m talking about if I reach 300 and more if I’ve run into storage issues
Thank you .
I second this.
Can multiple apple 🍎 earpod users be listening to the TV ?
Or is it only one set of earbuds ?
at least two users may be listening with airpods
Just buy a Google chromecast with Google TV does the same stuff. I have had both Apple TV and Google chromecast but the google device is just as Nice to use, and Way cheaper
Personally i think the ui on google TV is nicer than the Apple one, it is also as fast😁
.
If you want the premium experience Google also just released the Google streamer with Google TV😃
I have the OG ATV 4, and it still works awesome, will never get rid of it.
I've got three apple TV 4Ks. They work great. Ive got a 2022, 2021 and whetever year the 1st 4k came out for workouts only. No issues with any of them
I am very much still a media pc type of person.
(Not that d+ or prime video gives you good quality on a pc)
But mpv is such a powerful media player, add in shaders, upscaleing, and many other advanced settings. (Like dynamic tone mapping for hdr)
Atv is more locked down than even ios and is just a huge hassle for me to work with.
But it does have some very useful features like audio format shifting and a atmos decoder? (Mac can decode atmos to high channel pcm but mabye not atv)
I guess the airpod features are cool if your in the apple ecosystem but I am extremely sensitive to audio latency and Bluetooth dosen't really cut it. (Although you can delay it out and that's mostly fine for media consumption that isn't live.)
The whole home media space is a mess.
Don't you have to have another apple product to activate Apple TV?
No but having an iphone makes everything easier
I use my iPhone to interact with my shows and just my whatever dongle to display it.
Am I missing something here?
Can an Android phone 📱 be used to type on the screen with this ?
What TV would you recommend to use with Apple TV without breaking the bank?
Lol.. give it the same amount of time as the Sony and you'll see.
My one quirk with my 2017 4k is airplay is not the best. Doesn’t always go full screen and fails sometimes , which is odd, but other than that it’s perfect so many years later.
When are they going to fix the Apple TV remote connected remote disconnected constantly over and over again?
i preach to so many people to get one. especially if you have and iphone or multiple apple products its just such a smooth basically flawless experience. I use mine with 4 minis in 2 stereo pairs and a full size homepod "center" channel and the audio/video experience is bar none for the price. Theres nothing better.
i live in europe and i don't see any ads from tizen os. lmafo
Audio lag issue?
Apple TV has been coming in clutch for me, especially when changing apartments
Have been using apple tv since the first version came out that allowed u to download apps and never looked back. It is an absolutely elite device.
I have all Apple TV 3rd gen 4k all hardwired its the best and clean setup
Still rocking my 2017 ATV4K and it performs better than any FireTV or Roku device, in addition to all the other benefits you described.
Can you tell me if the series Harlots is available in 2160p HDR or dolby vision?
Can you use these at a hotel?
