My favourite is when she’s going to launch the drug supplier out to space, Ashford is like “can I talk to you” and Drummer’s delivery when she says “in a minute” is pitch perfect. Like “you can see im in the middle of something”
Inaros should have send her out the airlock the second he could bc she's by far the most dangerous enemy he has in the belt. She's a true belter, he should have known better :D
"I have seen blood spilled my entire life - and I've spilled enough myself to know that the future, OUR future can not be build on violence" "You sound like a politician...." "Oh I'm just old...." Oh Ashford, you'll be our favorite space pirate forever.
Ashford has to be one of the best character arcs I've ever seen in any space-oriented franchise. I legit hated the guy when he came on screen and was always waiting for him to backstab Drummer. He turned out to be one of my top three favorite characters by the end of the show.
Ashford, in the books, was a backstabber loyal only to himself. In the show, he was masterful, brilliant, wise and loyal to the belta cause. Where he starts the drumbeat for Drummer's speech before they take the generation ship in to the ring gate, he shows that loyalty. And with his "Spin the Drum, bring your injured here", you know he values life, not even wanting to see the Earther and Dusters suffer.
I love that the authors of the books wrote the show too because it gave them the opportunity to rewrite Ashford from a pretty one-dimensional bastard into the pirate with a heart of gold that won us over. It also gave him a truly memorable death scene.
My God. The most UNLIKELY of pairings that warped into one of the most iconic duos in sci-fi history. i simply ADORE the both of them...and their against all odds friendship. I actually disliked BOTH characters initially. But who knew that these two would become my alltime favorite pairings in The Expanse.
Such an unlikely duo. They both live for the belt. Everything they did they thought was best for their people, and they both understood that and respected each other for it and became fast friends. I love it.
In a show full of unbelievably wonderful characters, these two might just have been the best. Especially Drummer. She was literally wall paper in Season 1 & 2, but by the end of 6, she was probably the most important character in the entire show.
The show made his character so much better than in the books. The books are great and better in various respects but some parts of the show really are a refinement of what the guys did on paper.
the expanse was a masterpiece. the actors and actresses involved were mystical and transported us all to an amazing place and told us an amazing story that will stay with me for the rest of my life. these characters were so good. drummer, ashford and amos are my three favorites.
Klaes Ashford was such a strong character it was almost a shame to see him go with what he and Drummer went through, but it was gloriously noble how he went.
I was sad that Ashford met his end, I would definitely have written him off. You could have had an entire SPIN OFF series just with Ashford and Drummer.....wow.
What a great pairing they were. Initially Drummer hates the bloke, but they develop a grudging respect and then a proper friendship. It was fantastic to watch it unfold.
The interaction between these two, getting Strathairn to play Ashford without limits and Gee being able to run with her character, on top of the AMAZING Re-Write of these from the 'was also there' characters in the books to core essential players with completely different arcs in the show, When you see Ashford singing his last dittie, as a viewer you feel rage, you feel what Drimmer feels, and you cheer for her when she tactically black-eye's Inaro.
Family doesn't need such labels, they could be still family without father-daughter or brother-sister bond, they simply fight together for the same goal and they respect each other as partner, they're best friend to each other because they need each other
@@13rute camina was actually given bull's roll not really Ashford. Ashford they just kind of tweaked. He did pretty much all the same things as in the book he just wasn't a dick and was apologetic about it afterwards. Actually cared about the crew instead of his reputation like in the book.
That is how you write great science fiction and build characters. So many people I know initially hated these two characters and over time they grew to become beloved heroes in the Expanse and science universe. Greta writing, great acting.
"...A man is not just one man. A man is his family, friends..." Ashford (I'm paraphrasing). ☺ I can't farm, I can't build, I can't do many things. So...me just do what me can to help. 🙏
Generally, shows and films are worse than the books they are based on, but there are exceptions. David Strathairn as Ashford is a massive improvement over the book version, who was pretty bland and generic.
my favorite is when Drummer says to Ashford, "What. a. surprise, a pirate who supports an act of piracy." lol
"If this is another of your teaching moment, I prefer for bleed out in silence. - Drummer
My favourite is when she’s going to launch the drug supplier out to space, Ashford is like “can I talk to you” and Drummer’s delivery when she says “in a minute” is pitch perfect.
Like “you can see im in the middle of something”
The guilt of Ashford's death, because Drummer let Inaros live, almost destroyed her.
Inaros should have send her out the airlock the second he could bc she's by far the most dangerous enemy he has in the belt. She's a true belter, he should have known better :D
@@R4Y2k that’s why spacing her would’ve been a bad choice. Other belters would’ve lost respect for Inaros and no longer follow him.
Marcos fucked up by letting her live, Drummer fucked up by playing politics and not trusting her gut@@R4Y2k
I remember thinking at the time: Camina, you are going to regret this
"I have seen blood spilled my entire life - and I've spilled enough myself to know that the future, OUR future can not be build on violence"
"You sound like a politician...."
"Oh I'm just old...."
Oh Ashford, you'll be our favorite space pirate forever.
And he was right
And there's stiff competition in that category...
And then in Season 6 she becomes one. I think a lot of lessons from Ashford rubbed off on her.
Sounds like a good idea for a prequel series.
Wisdom comes with age, if you have enough sense.

That's good writing at work.

The power of good writing
@@Fr0st1989 Hell yeah. Character development :D
They're the best
Yeah me too. I didn't know how to take either of them but at the end both are among my favourite fictional characters ever.
Drummer for me turned into the heart of the show starting season 3.
Such an unlikely duo. They both live for the belt. Everything they did they thought was best for their people, and they both understood that and respected each other for it and became fast friends. I love it.
“Stay out of politics”
2 seasons later..
In a show full of unbelievably wonderful characters, these two might just have been the best. Especially Drummer. She was literally wall paper in Season 1 & 2, but by the end of 6, she was probably the most important character in the entire show.
Drummer isn't even mentioned in season 1. First appearance is in season 2.
She's not the most important character in the show. However, she is a great character.
@@Iron-BridgeBy the end she basically controls gate access, so I'm willing to bet she is the msot important in that moment
Really hated Ashford when he first showed up. But after the gates opened, he became so much more likeable. And personable.
The show made his character so much better than in the books. The books are great and better in various respects but some parts of the show really are a refinement of what the guys did on paper.
My favourite moment was:
Camina calling Ashford's ship
Ashford answers with a super angry "WHAAAT!!!!???"
Camina makes a "da fuc, dude?" face

I mean, he was a legendary figure by the time of the show, so there is a LOT of stories to tell of his past.
there is an spin off of drummer in videogames relase this year.
That would have been a great show
I miss him

such a sweet father daughter bond
More like brother - sister

Straithern took a nothing villain in the books, and made it a beautiful deep character.. And the writers saw it and ran with it.
0:07 any louder please
Their accolade, how they looked and smiled in the end, both knew it was the last time they're seeing and talking to each others
STILL GUTTED Ashford was spaced from the show. One of the greatest characters.
I really like the difference they gave his character in the show vs his character in the book.
A act of mercy cost billion's
Ever since watching this show, no joke, i call people i respect "bossman."
Where I come calling someone boss is a mark of respect, especially if they are actually your boss.

Ashford really grew on me. Became one of the best.
My God, Ashford is so much cooler in the show as compared to the books.
That's because the writers essentially made a new character with Ashford's name and added some of the best parts of Bull's character to him.

“Stay out of politics”
Becomes head of a new transitional better government
Ashford made quite the comeback from a Badguy persona to a full blown Good guy i was not a fan of him at first but he sure grew on me.
You are a bad guy but you not a "bad guy" vibe basically.
Both of them deserve a spin off
There's a video game coming out focusing on Drummer, the actor is doing the voice.
@@nathanadler1452 I wpnder if Ashford makes an appearance... show drops hints that they've met before and it would be an instant iconic scene.

I don't know another show that made me care about all of these characters!
fantastic show that seemed to come out of nowhere. Thanks to SyFy for starting and to Amazon Video for continuing
So glad they made Camina Drummer the main character of the computer game.

the writers of the Expanse did an A+ job with this duo

Check out Cara Gee in interviews, she's delightful.
That bottle was a death sentence
Klaus Ashford (Expanse) and Gen. Bel Riose (Foundation) were 2 characters I was sad to see each series kill off!!!
Thanks, Spoiler Joe 🎉
Great video, just please normalize the audio levels. That cut after the first clip nearly deafened me.
Outside of Amos, these were my two favorite characters of the show
Drummer making that decision that led to Ashford dying made me hate her.
David Strathairn was amazing as Ashford.
Belta lowda forever.!
Hated it when Ashford got killed off 😢
why the ear-rape
I have trouble understanding this Englisch
Add a laugh track and its better than Friends
I liked show Ashford way better than book Ashford
