That is so true! It's a whole look! And it works so that the look translates when they shoot back in time and show Lucille in the 80s and 90s ...I forget who the actress is that plays young Lucille but she's hilarious too 😂
Every nuance of Jessica Walter's acting is perfect, the movement of her eyes, the way she moves her hands, the way she delivers the lines - a masterpiece.
I would also put Evelyn Harper - Charlie and Alan's mother - from Two and a Half Men at the top. Jessica Walter and Holland Taylor are both amazing actresses.

Michael: "Why didn't you just tell people she was adopted?" Lucille: "Adopting a child we didn't want just to stick it to a competitor? Oh, that'd make us look great." Michael: "You're right, Mom, people would have twisted that story to make ya look bad." Lucille: "I don't see what the big deal is. We loved her just as much as any of you normal kids . . . more than Gob!"
Her performance and the writing are both pieces of art. I love how complex her character is in that although she's a horrible mother, that horribleness is manifested in different dynamics depending on which child she's dealing with. Job: she flats out hates, Buster: she controls, Lindsay: she puts down, and Michael: she emotionally manipulates and guilt-trips.
This show was so well-written and well-cast. Sometimes I just put it on in the background to listen to it while I do housework and occasionally I have to sneak peeks, because the visual gags are so great
When Michael is confronting her about "Nellie" and she assumes he's insulting Tobias, she delivers her most emotive and sincere, "it's so nice to be able to talk like this."

Funny story about this show. I had a guy break up with me because I had friends over and one brought a plus 1. Well me and the plus one were like the only ones who had ever heard of this show and religiously watched it. So of course we bonded over it and we’re laughing our butts off. Yeah the ex didn’t like that and stormed out 😂😂😂. Thank you Lucille, I dodged a bullet 😂😂😂
her delivery of her lines made the entire show for me. the pursed lips, the expressive eyebrows, the consistently judgy, cutting glares, her tone. perfection.
The smoking bit is disturbing and would have been just that if they did one or two pulls, but they drag it on and it becomes hilarious as Buster falls apart.

She reminded me of my own mother. We had tough times but when I watched this show I would just laugh. It made me see my own mother, in a comedic light.
My favourite part of this hilarious actress on this show is the dirty look she gives Annyong when he repeats his ‘name’ for the 100th time 😂 #playmisty4me

I love how they do a similar joke in Archer when she's babysitting Seamus. "Take him. I have no more love to give today." "Yeah, what is it, like 2:30?"
