    I've done this kit about a year ago.. I really liked it and mine came out pretty good.. I like your color choice .. 👍 And the bottom line is, it's your choice and your build.. Build it in what ever way that works for you and brings you joy.👍

    I just bought this rig today. My Dad was a long haul trucker and drove a Peterbilt. He passed last year and I wanna build this to commemorate him. Curious on a suggestion for a box trailer kit would be greatly appreciated from anyone. Thanks to y’all and hope 2022 blesses everyone

      Sorry about your dad Jonathan. I don't know if your looking for a dry goods or refrigerated reefer but AMT makes the Coca Cola dry goods trailer and the more expensive refrigeratored reefer. Moebius makes a refrigerated reefer as well that you can build with or without the refrigerator. I have a video on the Moebius trailer if your interested.

    I use Moebius tires they are a lot better but they too have their problems but they do work. The Revell front tires work good. Thanks for responding. I’m fixing to paint another Peterbilt I’m going to try for black but with black frame. I was going to be red but I forgot. I’ve done so many black.

    I never use flat/matt black for hoses because I find satin black works best on all components/equipment that is supposed to be displayed as black. Satin gives a better appearance replicating nicely the natural sheen of rubber and plastic components that are used on vehicles. Alternatively, matt black can be gently buffed with cotton wool to provide a similar effect once fully dry. :)

    Hey David Terry here. I’ve built four of these and now doing the 5th. I can’t get the tires right. I have to buy Moebius tire kits they are ok just ok. I don’t do decals I think they look better. Let me know how you do the tires. Thank David.

    • @davidchin350
      @davidchin350  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm like you Terry, I try not to over use decals as well. Although I'm not a big fan of the Revell tires due to the soft sagging, folding sidewalls, I ended up using them due to the three holes that slot into the pins. I dont know if another brand tire would fit but you can try and see if it works. Worst case scenario just revert back to the original Revell tires with the 3 holes.

    Great build, I wasn't to sure how the red chassis was going to look, but the flat black cab and sleeper went really well with your choice of frame colors. The matte finish on the chrome parts was a great idea. The finished model is a real looker. The only thing that would make it look better and you mentioned it in the beginning of your video was if they would have included the decal for the radiator , I believe it's a big set of fierce looking teeth that would have made it really pop. Are you going to pair it up with a trailer? If so which one are you going to use? What's your opinion on the kits that have the frame already built compared to the AMT kits that requires you to build the frame . Do you have a preference? Nice finished product I enjoy your channel. I build for the same reasons you do it just is therapitict and gives me satisfaction. Stay healthy.

    • @davidchin350
      @davidchin350  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and comparing notes Harold. Glad you enjoyed my build. Aside from the BJ and the Bear trailer, I really dont have any other trailers to match with my semi tractors because I dont have the room for them. If I did, maybe an AMT dry goods trailer. I would paint the trailer white so it can be paired with any tractor paint scheme. I have built both AMT and Revell tractors and really dont have a preference. The higher cost AMT is reflected in its parts count and detail while Revell is half the price of an AMT but allows you to concentrate on paint detailing. It eventually comes down to the type of vehicle and how much of a challenge I want building it.

      @@sathyathukkaram8153 you might want to try kit bashing. Get another kit like an AMT with a flatbed that you want. And bash the parts together from the two kits. I personally have not done bashing since I usually build stock straight from the box. But the rear of the Revell Peterbilt is a good platform for anything you want to mount. If you can scratch build you can do anything with spare parts, model glue, model knife and putty.

    • @davidchin350
      @davidchin350  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont know if I understand you correctly but scale models will always look a bit toyish and as builder you have to detail to add realism. If you enlarge photos of a scale model they will not be as convincing anymore. Thanks for watching.
