AMT Groove Boss build, reveal & mail call
Even without all these mismatched pieces, there's still a lack of detail, such as the loopholes (the arrow slits), which are often surrounded by thicker stone in real castles. You would need more parts to make a more interesting structure. There's a simple trick to revealing details with paint: first apply a dark coat to obtain the color of the darker shadows (e.g. black for chain mail) and after it dries, you use the color of the highlights (e.g.metal for chain mail), but with an almost dry brush that you quickly sweep following the direction of the light (usually from top to bottom). You can also do this with their clothing, using shadows less dark than black.
@@IronFreee thanks for the tips, I normally don't build these structures but had this as a bundled purchase. Thanks for stopping by.🙂
Hello, nice tank, may ask how did you install the switch on the chassis? Thanks
@@McDonnellDouglas11F it's a mini rocker switch so just cut a hole out and the switch snaps into the hole. Hole has to be snug for it to hold.
Very cool details on the knits...great set, David 👍😊
@@AtTonisGarage thanks Toni, glad you like it.👍
This is seriously cool! I'd have loved this as a kid. We were always build forts for plastic soldiers out of anything we could find.
Yes sir, some serious table top gaming for sure.😊 Something different for me.👍
Very neat subject and build David! It’s definitely difficult when you don’t have mounting points for installing those walls. Definitely came out amazing! 😊
@@johngligo4049 thanks John, those figures require alot of detail.
Interesting. More of a play set than a model kit, but you still have to glue it together. I can see myself as a kid, playing with that in the dirt, and throwing rocks at it and the knights. Great job on the paint. Your patience is to be commended.
@@davidparker2259 thanks Dave, probably my last 1/72 figure set. I'll stick to 1/25 drivers and 1/35 military figures. It does look like a war gaming set🙂
David I think that you do great tutorials brother and she's absolutely amazing the way she's turned out ❤😊
@@thescalemodelcarguychannel8681 thanks Shawn, glad you like it 👍
Luv to see something different David. Great work all round my friend. Many thanks for sharing
@@SteveJonesScaleModellingSite thanks Steve, glad you like it. This was definitely something different for sure.
Superb knights in a superb castle David, nice!!!
Thanks Phil, definitely something different for me. I'm exhausted after 15 figures don't know how you paint an entire battlefield of figures.😮
@@davidchin350 😄
Hi David, even with the kits problems you did a fantastic job, especially on the men and horses nice detail painting, tedious work just a great job, thanks for sharing!
@@slowridemodelcars1687 thanks, the figures were definitely a challenge.🙂
That's really cool, David, excellent work, brother ✌️😁

@davidchin350 thanks
Great finished product. it really looks like they are charging out of the castle! I like the darker areas where it looks like people have been walking around .
@@KHModelWorks thanks Kurt, I blackwashed the entire fortress.🙂
Too bad that fortress is so poorly designed especially since it had all that nice, clean texture. The figures came out nice.
@@dariosmodelbuilds thanks Dario, a good kit to hand brush during the winter when I can't spray due to the cold weather. The figures get to be tedious after 4 or 5.😮💨
Freaking AWESOME 😮😮
@@papasmodelcarroom8450 thanks, it will be a long while before I attempt another figure set. Appreciate you checking this video out.🙂
Wow David, you've gone medieval on us, LOL! Thanks for the look buddy, Johnny
@@hillbillymodeling thanks Johnny, yes something different than what I normally build. I love "going medieval" 😁👍
Thanks for giving such good tips on these rather challenging kits. They turned out nice, and the washes really brought out the details.
@@edsgarage9966 thanks Ed, blackwashing the fortress darkened the tone but definitely brought out the details. Glad you like it 👍
Awesome medieval diorama!
Thanks for checking this out, a fun build. Looks like a gamer piece now😊
Hi David. The gaps aren't pretty but the overall picture of the fortress is very impressive. A great project! 👍 Together with the Templar Knights it's a very cool thing and very different to your other kind of projects. In any case a real eye-catcher in the collection shelf. Best wishes, Joachim
Thanks Joachim, yes the gap and attachment points are not great but an okay kit overall. Something different from what I normally build .😊
Very, very cool! Thanks for showing this.

Excellent work on the tiny figures Dave! Looks great overall.
Thanks Kenny, the small figures got tedious after 3 or 4 but glad they are completed. Glad you like it 👍
Hat's off to you , Sir. Epic work !! Looks spectabulous , David.
Thanks Charlie, I can only handle a few hours each night of figure detail painting.
Hi David. Despite the strange adjustment, the fortress looks great. If your paints at 7:22 are acrylic, you can dilute them with "medium" that can be found in model or hobby stores. The medium dilutes the paint but prevents the pigments from going "crazy". Very nice end result. great work.👍👍👍👍
Thanks Pierre, I'll look into the medium. Something to occupy my time during winter when it's too cold to spray paint.
Looks like you are ready for some table top gaming David! Very good job considering the fitment issues. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Tim, yes looks like a gamer piece now.🙂great for mock battles.
that looks fantastic 👌 love the details of the knight's, brilliant mate 👌😃😃👍👍😎
@@rcplaytime thanks, now it looks like a table top gamer piece.🙂
This is really kool, looks like a ton of work! The end result is great tho, nice job!
Thanks Tim, the figures got to be tedious but I broke it down to just a few hours each night of detail painting.
Nice work David. I have some miniart things, and have only built one which seemed overcomplicated. Have a great week, and stay warm.
Thanks Johnny, this is different from what I normally build but still a fun kit. Detail painting figures got to be a bit tedious at times.😮
hi David... that is really cool... i get tired painting a dashboard & you did all those little guys & horses...👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻thx 4 sharing... vinny
@@dacuzzz6951 thanks Vinny, yes the figure set got tedious at times but glad it's done now.🙂
Really nice work David
@@ramblers69 thanks Tom, definitely different than what I normally build.
Thats a cool Fortress kit David! Man thats a lot of figures to paint, they look sweet though! Came out awesome!!
Thanks Manny, yeah the figures got to be the most challenging. Glad its completed.😊
@@davidchin350 Your welcome!! I hear ya but very cool man!
I've built a couple of Miniart kits and they are notorious for not using location pins / holes. Making assembly difficult at times. For the gaps I would use a thin strip of Evergreen or Plastruct angle plastic and super glue to fill them - rather than putty and sanding - it might be easier 👍 I have seen the boxart for the fortress kit many times but never one built. I think it's a cool looking model and very unique !
Thanks Bruce, wasn't familiar with Miniart before this fortress build. Not bad for a winter build when I can't spray paint.😊
Cool, David! Ed and I were just talking about your fortress build last night after watching Robin Hood. We may need to get some of those Home Depot acrylics too. I can tell you, the ones from Hobby Lobby craft section don't work for Ed's tastes.
Thanks Ernie, was the movie " Men in Tights"?😁 The home depot might be similar to the apple barrel paints you've seen.
Not anything I would build, it's neat to see these pieces put together by other modelers. I am amazed by the results you achieved with craft paint! Excellent detail work!
Thanks Jason, bulk of the paint were craft: black, gray, brown and white. Flesh tone, flat aluminum and red were enamel.
A very cool project David. Brings back memories of a Christmas 60 years ago when my parents gave me a Knights and Castle set ordered from the Sears Catalog. About 2 dozen knights about 28mm as I recall all badly hand painted from some factory in Hong Kong. I’ll see if I can dig up an old photo of that set. Lots of fun and I loved playing with the figures (until I got an HO racing set!). Model on. 👍👍
Thanks Mark, glad this build brought back memories. I remember seeing knights and castle playsets in FAO Schwartz catalogs.
@@davidchin350 I was mistaken.. there were a total of 12 Knights... 6 Silver and 6 Gold. From the 1963 Sears Christmas Catalog: i.pinimg.com/736x/d3/7f/dc/d37fdc7ceeb81cb0caed009893048e15.jpg
Awesome card, David,, and very very cool GTX. I recently bought the 1/43 scale version of this GTX and like it. But of course, it has not the same details as your 1/24 scale kit. Great clip
@@AtTonisGarage thanks Toni, its always a treat to see American muscle cars among your European cars 👍
hey i want to make the fury Italeri set a rc but i dont know hwat motor to get ive seen videos of it but i just dont know what motor to get if you could help me
@@Themodking63637 you will need a twin motor set up to be able to turn with the RC. The challenge is the tight space the Sherman has at the front drive sprocket. I built a motorized Tamiya Sherman but it came with the custom drive box. Check out my RC Jagdtiger and Sharman video and you'll know what I mean. Good Luck.
@@davidchin350 thank you
@@davidchin350 one more question what motor did you use like where did you get it for the sherman?
@Themodking63637 the Sherman came with the motor and gearbox since I bought a motorized kit from Tamiya. Tamiya still makes a motorized Sherman and Panther tank but it's not the Fury with the HVSS. it's a single motor so no turning. You may have to scratch build or seek elsewhere for a gearbox with final drive to fit your kit. In retro fitting my past tank builds I buy the Tamiya motor with gearboxes to simplify matters but there are size limitations. Maybe you should try motorizing one with no RC unit to get a grasp of the process??
@ alright ill just buy the sherman and take the componests and put it into the fury
Hey David, I love that mid-evil kit and figures, what an interesting and cool subject! That pumper is awesome, what a great gift.
