    Hi everyone,
It's great to see this video is still reaching so many folks in need! I've had many questions about the tools I used and where to buy them - I recently picked up an iFixIt kit for £20 on Amazon which I'm sure would do a much better job and serve you well for many years, affiliate link here: amzn.to/2YSmtnf
I'm sorry I don't have answers for everything, I'm no expert on these cameras - this was just a single issue I thought I'd have a go at fixing, but I'm stoked that it's helped so many of you fix your cameras and get shooting again 🙂
    Peace,
    Ben xo

Great informative video thank you . Small tip when replacing small screws ....use a microscopic bit of Vaseline on the end of the screwdriver it holds the screw on the tip.
Also with the hard to budge screws, try gently tightening first, this can on occasions break the seal. Hope this helps

Blu tack works as well if you dont have a magnetic screwdriver tip.

Make sure you mark the position of the name ring before taking it off and note which distance focus you use. Otherwise you wont be able to get the focus correct when re assembling and getting it right again is quite complicated , It's really important. The focus ring is most screwed in at infinity and furthest extended at closest range focus.

    • @TheSFMCreators
      @TheSFMCreators ปีที่แล้ว

I did this not quite right, as I made the marking but it didn’t line up quite right. Now I have it almost fully screwed in at the landscape mode. Will this suffice or do you have any tips on how to recalibrate the focus of the lens?

Hey Dude, those screws aren't Philips, they're JIS (Japan Industrial Standard). They must not be unscrewed with Philips screwdrivers, as the screw heads can be easily damaged. You're lucky they weren't tightened too tight. Pozdrawiam, serdecznie :)

Good tip when working with small screws. Lay some lint free paper under your camera or a cotton sheet.
This way when/if you drop a screw it can't roll away or bounce off the table.

Thank you for an excellent video on the Olympus Trip 35! Well done. The only suggestion I would make is to use separate containers for each of the screw types used in your process. Doing so would reduce the chance for picking the wrong screw when you are reassembling the camera. Your idea of only loosening some of the screws 2 or 3 rotations helps to eliminate some of confusion arising from incorrect screw placement during reassembly. Again, highly instructive video!

Hello! Thanks for your video and all the infos! I got one question: The film advance leverer of my olympus gets kinda stuck when rewinding, in the direction forward works perfectly, but backwards its not smooth and when rewinding the film gets stuck because theres not enough power from the rewinder on top; you can "move it backwards" with the fingers but still not smooth.. you have any idea how to make it more smooth so the whole rewinding process works? Maybe putting some oil or something? Or you have to change the part (plastic role of the film advance leverer)? Thanks in advance!!!

I bought one yesterday. Looking great until I saw the stationary aperture blades...
Found your video and tools, the aperture blades were REALLY stuck - but I got them to move freely under spring tension. No problem. But regarding removing the lens... I followed the video and paused when " just unscrews"... Marking 12 o'clock - but not counting turns in or out! Darn!
Refitting. Followed the video. I of course have a problem getting the focus right.. What do you people do? Turn counts out from fully seated or?

It was all going well until I reassembled the camera. Pulling the wires over the tripod fret is not a good idea, the yellow cable snapped and now the camera is broken because the light meter function is gone. It's a much safer way to already put the wires behind the tripod fret when you put the bit that holds the aperture and light meter back onto the inner lens - there's no risk of snapping cables that way. These cables are often old and worn and snap easily, not a good idea in any way to pull them over something.

  • @oliverelmes79

If anyone has a jammed shutter on this camera, just take the top part off and gently pull the shutter release with some pliers. Did the trick for me. I took the lens off and didn't really need to, now I can't get it back on whilst activating the aperture. Any suggestions welcome!

I hope you're still around answering questions. My olympus trip 35 is having issues with the film advance winder not being in sync with the film takeup spool. The spool seems loose, and when I advance the film with the winder, the sprocket with the teeth that pulls the film along spins, but the take up spool that is supposed to collect the film does not spin. How can i access / repair this?

Is there really a point in marking the lens before unscrewing it? It's the same shape all the way, so does it matter if I screw it back in in different position of the marking point? I read on internet manuals that it can affect the focusing after. But don't know if that's a valid point really.

Ben Jones just realized that previous owner already tried to fix the Trip that I do have now and probably dodaj not pay much attention to setting the lens back on correct order. Then It means my marking is wrong. What do I do now? Any chance to still have it adjusted correctly without testing on film?

Photography by Ben Jones not yet. Literally just got it. I'm hoping it's just the blades that's the problem as the selenium seems not to prevent firing when he lens is fully covered - darkened.

Cuerpos Cósmicos You could try to find a broken donor camera on a fleamarket or in second hand shop, just some ideas.
Another important thing is, the cross head screws are not Philips screws but JIS (Japan Industry Standard) the JIS screw driver will not damage the screw head, so you will need a JIS00 screw driver to disassemble / assemble the camera.

It’s a tricky one for sure, especially when we’re really don’t want to damage anything.
