Finally!! Someone on TH-cam who doesn't assume, that we all have a computer and computer knowledge. I learned just enough over the years just to buy a plug and play device and use it. I of course ran into problems with corrupting cards by either changing certain settings or possibly removing a card just to see what kind it is or turning the system on while charging.( l am not kidding). I also don't know anyone into games that can help. I appreciate any advice that you may have for me. Thank you.
i completely understand this but i would strongly reccommend onion os installation. one of the easiest things ive every done. you simply put the sd card in ur computer, right click and format, then put the onion files from the zip on their website. put it back into ur miyoo and it just starts installing. its great.
I never got in to emulation because i don’t understand it.. doesn’t matter how many people explain it to me.. it all sounds like a some kind of magic. I’m ok with the mini plus os! And I’m glad it comes with games pre loaded! That way people who don’t understand emulation completely can also enjoy it.
i also had problems in understanding the onion os process and else but after an hour i installed onion and i had not even a crad with games, so on a empty sandisk, but now i run at least 3 games and look forward for more, if you have questions ask, i have the miyoo plus
@tutorialchief yeah I am a little afraid I need to find all the roms again after installing union 😅 I read somewhere that it deletes everything on the SD.. and I'm quite happy with all the games on it.. and everything being in the right folders. I know a little bit how it works, because I have some roms on the steam deck.

I have todo the current firmware update since I read some info that saving on the natural ROM games has been known to fail and i read that it's just needed an update and to check on the achievements menu to disable the hardcore mode. This helped me at least to understand More or less where to look. I will be watching the rest of your videos relating to this device.
I find that the miyoo stock Os works good. The main advantage of the stock Os for me is the save states system. I really don’t like shortcuts save system used in onion or koriki. And the fact that the games start from the beginning is another good point. But that’s a personal opinion. 😊
Tried moving the stock sd to the new sd card after installing onion and none of my games worked, then tried taking onion off and just transferring the stock stuff to the new sd and it still didn’t work. The new card is fat32 so idk why it wouldn’t be working
I really like that its so easy to just turn on and use the miiyoo. I'm definitely gonna upgrade to onion but while I wait for an SD card I can still play some classics!
Great video! I’m sure I’ll watch this more then once. Lots of good things! One thing: the GBC emulator that is stock doesn’t have FF. I used the Gambatte emulator in the retroarch folder, and that had the FF toggle on it. Worked great!

Stock sd card inside i have the new samsung ine coming this week! quick question some games run with low quality on the screen looks like the screen is constantly moving like for example when i play donkey kong the screen looks horrible like if its moving but when i play metal gear on neo geo the quality is amazing the way is supposed to look any tips in new to all this thanks ive seen people change the speer in witch the games are played is that the trick ?? Awesome video, thanks for the tutorial. I have just one question that if you can answer it would make my whole week!!! For some reason the stock firmware that came with my Miyoo Mini came with doesn't have any kind of save or load menu option. When I press the menu button I just get kicked back to the game list. The emulators in the RetroArch section do have have the whole save/load/setting options, so that's what I'm using now, but some of the emulators say there are no roms even though I have created folders and placed the games from the Roms folder to the RRroms section when there was no folder of its own. However, no matter how hard I try, the game gear, wonderswan and PS1 emulators in RetroArch just give me an "empty" message when I open them even though I have put the roms in there respective folders with the name of each respective emulator on each folder. Sorry for writing a book here, but could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong and more importantly how to get those roms to show up? Your help would be much appreciated as one always wants to play the games they can't get to work, lol

Ì'm gonna pray that somehow you see this and pray again that you know or have an idea of what my problem is and how I would go about fixing it. So I have always been able to (and still can) add gba games without a problem. But this time I added a game and when I went back into the device my GBA Folder has disappeared from the Games App. I can still play the games via the retroarch app but it's so confusing because I don't know where my GBA has gone.

Simply amazing video! I want to know how I can clone the SD card to a larger one say like 128gb so I can just add my stuff and already keep the ones that were in it. Because it's almost fully loaded.
@@RetroBreezeYT it doesnt work that way as far as i've seen, i actually did this a couple of times with no success. The first time i cloned the image to a larger SD card it showed the same size after the cloning process as the source sd card with a huge unallocated partition. I cannot add that partition or merge it with the allocated partition but i can only assign it as a separate paartition with a new letter!! its very frustrating really 😩
Hi, I just bought the mini plus and from what I understand you should get a new SD card so you don't have issues with games crashing ect. I bought a 64 gig SanDisk to replace the SD. Do you know of a good tutorial on how to upload the data to the new SD? Is it hard to do the switch or necessary?

Yes of course! If you play in the meantime, just back up the saves and states folders again before you move to the new SD card so you don't lose your saves.

Hi there! Take a look at the following page. It lists all the emulators available and which Bios files they need (if any). When i play ps1 in order to save normally using a memory card(which i prefer) instead of save states i have to change my memory card to memory card 6 or something like that because the 1st 5 are full for some reason. It automatically goes back to memory card 1 every time i open a game up, is there a way to make memory card 6 default or better yet delete all saves on memory card 1-5?
hey retrobreeze. i just got my miyoo mini plus today. Somehow i have made it on 2 of my mame games, "My 2 favorite games" where when i press the middle button it brings up retroarch menu and no longer shows the menu like you have when you press your middle button. How do i fix this?

I was playing digimon world 3 on my Miyoo mini plus and first time playing I got little far into the game & I talked to someone in the game than it froze on me than I started a second file and while I was playing the game started to glitch on me…is there a a way to fix it ?? boy I learned that the hard way, I bought a pre loaded sd card with Onion OS because I found it a little overwhelming to do myself. The card I got was infected with some kind of PUPs and ruined both the stock card and itself. @@RetroBreezeYT
Thanks for the video! It's helpful to get through the system. But I'm having a problem with tech support as the NEOGEO emulator isn't loading the roms from the NEOGEO folder. How do I change the settings so that it's loading the ROMS from the right folder?
@@gongryan2984 I ended up copying the NEO GEO Folder into the "Arcade" folder, since that's the folder that was loading up into the emulator. It's not a perfect solution, but it works without having to make any technical changes to the emulator or to the internal system. Once you do it, you have to refresh the rom library. You do that by pressing the small middle button on the Miyoo while on the main menu screen and then selecting "Refresh Roms". Let me know if this works for you!
I have a save file game from my phone emulator. How do i move the save file to this miyoo mini. I've try copy-paste to same folder in game it cannot work.
There's a lot of factors to take into account with this. Are you using retroarch on both? Same core? Exactly the same ROM? Do the ROM and save files have the same filename?
if i did end up hitting the reset to defaults option on the retro arch configuation file how would i go about trying to fix it? i know you said a factory reset wouldnt fix it? would i just take the SD card out and reformat it and reinstall the os?

Is there anyway to change or edit game time/RTC? Some people have said that it will automatically add 6 hrs on reboot, but that is not happening for me
None of the Mario Nintendo games were preloaded into the included sd card. I’m a newbie so I have no idea how to find or add the Mario games. What’s your advice
Yeah doesn't look like the Miyoo SD cards come with Mario games. My advice is to learn how to find and load your own Roms. It'll make things so much easier down the line!
HELLO PEEPS. Using a Miyoo Mini here! how do you access retroarch menu from the games themselves? pressing the function button or the fuction + select button just brings up the Continue, Save, Load, Native Menu, Netplay, Exit Game. clicking on Native Menu, I see resume game, save state, load state, resert game, load cd image, options, controls, cheats, extra stuff etc. i'm playing FF9 and i can't seem to change discs with Load CD image or Extra Stuff > Change CD Image... I clicked on Change CD Image and selected Disc 2.bin then it brought me to the game screen and there was a sparkle sound. And then darknesssss. 😦

No, definitely not. The Mario 64 port isn't an emulated N64 game, it's a ground-up port which is why it's possible. N64 is far out of reach for the Mini!
When buying a Miyoo, would you recommend the no sd, 32, 64, or 128 version? I plan on getting a new SD anyways, but then I realized how much of a hassle it might be to get some of the files that come on the stock SD. But then I question if the content difference is worth it for the higher memory versions. Like do they just pad out the difference with duplicates and rom hacks?

I messed up applying the screen protector that came in the box, and I'm having a hard time finding the right size for a replacement online. Does anyone know where to buy the right size screen protector?
Just got mine yesterday, I was looking for cheats within the menu, and I think pressed something that not supposed to. It's the first Metal Slug (Neo Geo) now I can't open the game? Is there a way to fix it, reset just that game? Already did a factory reset.
I'd recommend going into the saves and States folders (retroarch > .retroarch on the SD card) and deleting the saves for that game (back them up first if you want), then try opening it again!
@RetroBreezeYT Before I did, I back up the entire card. Nothing happen after I deleted the save files? I deleted the game while at it. Put back the card on the PC re pasted the rom. Now the game is gone? I did a refresh file is there but still missing when I turn it on ?

Yes, you can! Just format the bigger car to fat32 then drag and dig the content from your old card to the new one!

Yes that's right. Just make sure to enable hidden files in your PC and copy the .tmp_update folder too.

When i play ps1 in order to save normally using a memory card(which i prefer) instead of save states i have to change my memory card to memory card 6 or something like that because the 1st 5 are full for some reason. It automatically goes back to memory card 1 every time i open a game up, is there a way to make memory card 6 default or better yet delete all saves on memory card 1-5?
After I update from stock to onion I lost all the games.. can i still retrieve the games ?

hey retrobreeze. i just got my miyoo mini plus today. Somehow i have made it on 2 of my mame games, "My 2 favorite games" where when i press the middle button it brings up retroarch menu and no longer shows the menu like you have when you press your middle button. How do i fix this?

Hey, I got my Stock Miyoo Mini + and never showed box arts, they're all in the sd they just won't appear when im searching a game :/
I was playing digimon world 3 on my Miyoo mini plus and first time playing I got little far into the game & I talked to someone in the game than it froze on me than I started a second file and while I was playing the game started to glitch on me…is there a a way to fix it ?? Only happen to me on just that game.

boy I learned that the hard way, I bought a pre loaded sd card with Onion OS because I found it a little overwhelming to do myself. The card I got was infected with some kind of PUPs and ruined both the stock card and itself. @@RetroBreezeYT

Thanks for the video! It's helpful to get through the system. But I'm having a problem with tech support as the NEOGEO emulator isn't loading the roms from the NEOGEO folder. How do I change the settings so that it's loading the ROMS from the right folder?

@@gongryan2984 I ended up copying the NEO GEO Folder into the "Arcade" folder, since that's the folder that was loading up into the emulator. It's not a perfect solution, but it works without having to make any technical changes to the emulator or to the internal system. Once you do it, you have to refresh the rom library. You do that by pressing the small middle button on the Miyoo while on the main menu screen and then selecting "Refresh Roms". Let me know if this works for you!

Tips on prepping the device for young (8yr old) users? Is there a way to hide games and other content? I only want a handful of games accessible.
The best thing right now is to just remove the games you don't want from the SD card, but the Onion team is apparently working on a kid or kiosk mode!

I have a save file game from my phone emulator. How do i move the save file to this miyoo mini. I've try copy-paste to same folder in game it cannot work.
There's a lot of factors to take into account with this. Are you using retroarch on both? Same core? Exactly the same ROM? Do the ROM and save files have the same filename?

if i did end up hitting the reset to defaults option on the retro arch configuation file how would i go about trying to fix it? i know you said a factory reset wouldnt fix it? would i just take the SD card out and reformat it and reinstall the os?

Yeah it should happen automatically on stock. You get more control with Onion OS!
None of the Mario Nintendo games were preloaded into the included sd card. I’m a newbie so I have no idea how to find or add the Mario games. What’s your advice
Yeah doesn't look like the Miyoo SD cards come with Mario games. My advice is to learn how to find and load your own Roms. It'll make things so much easier down the line!
my miyo mini stopped working every time i click any system is says searching games then it says nothing is in any of the folders
Are your ROM folders named correctly? There should be no leading numbers

how do you access retroarch menu from the games themselves? pressing the function button or the fuction + select button just brings up the Continue, Save, Load, Native Menu, Netplay, Exit Game.
clicking on Native Menu, I see resume game, save state, load state, resert game, load cd image, options, controls, cheats, extra stuff etc. i'm playing FF9 and i can't seem to change discs with Load CD image or Extra Stuff > Change CD Image... I clicked on Change CD Image and selected Disc 2.bin then it brought me to the game screen and there was a sparkle sound. And then darknesssss. 😦
Ps1 doesn't use retroarch on the stock firmware. Check my ps1 file type video for how to change CDs properly

No, definitely not. The Mario 64 port isn't an emulated N64 game, it's a ground-up port which is why it's possible. N64 is far out of reach for the Mini!

I plan on getting a new SD anyways, but then I realized how much of a hassle it might be to get some of the files that come on the stock SD. But then I question if the content difference is worth it for the higher memory versions. Like do they just pad out the difference with duplicates and rom hacks?

Just got mine yesterday, I was looking for cheats within the menu, and I think pressed something that not supposed to. It's the first Metal Slug (Neo Geo) now I can't open the game? Is there a way to fix it, reset just that game? Already did a factory reset.
I'd recommend going into the saves and States folders (retroarch > .retroarch on the SD card) and deleting the saves for that game (back them up first if you want), then try opening it again!
@RetroBreezeYT Before I did, I back up the entire card. Nothing happen after I deleted the save files? I deleted the game while at it. Put back the card on the PC re pasted the rom. Now the game is gone? I did a refresh file is there but still missing when I turn it on ?

I just got mine out of the box with a 128 gig sd card and all the game say empty. Does anyone have any insight as to why I cant see or access any games? I thought they came already stock out of the box.

No problem in general, but the more games you have, the slower the UI and game lists will be (in theory). Surely a 1tb for $1 is a fake/scam though.
