not only that, this clash between western ideals and ours has led to a dilemma....if someone is skinny in a family they are always shamed and told to eat more, theyre called sticks and things like that....and when someone is a lil chubby(like, not even overweight, a lil chubby) theyre asked to lose it. arey bhai chahthey kya ho hum ladkio se?

Arjun met his friend Shiva's sister's future husband... The guy lives in foreign and just returned. I used to be an overweight teen. Everyone in my school used to bully me for that. Not just people in school but relatives too. It used to hurt me a lot. Then one day I decided to take the matter in my hands. I decided to workout. I remember I used to workout twice a day. Do squats & push-ups during study breaks. And finally my hardwork paid off!! I felt I achieved my dream body. People stopped body shaming me. People who used to find me unattractive started asking me out. But one problem was there: I developed an eating disorder. I literally used to starve myself. I fainted many times cause of that.
And I wasn't happy. Like I lost weight, people stopped making fun..but I still felt empty.
Then I realised I just did all this not for myself but for my bullies.
I started doing more research about being healthy & stuffs. Then I realised being skinny is also not healthy. I started eating properly (of course I avoided junk food) & I continued working out. And this time I did all these for MYSELF.
So whoever reading this. Doesn't matter whether you are girl or guy. If you are overweight... workout for yourself...for your health..not to impress people. Trust me, it will help you in future.
And don't lose patience. It will take time. Be consistent. If a lazy person like me can do it, YOU CAN ALSO DO IT. 💪🏼

Yes as a human we have every right to judge a situation....so that we make the right decision by accessing what is right or wrong, safe or dangerous. It is basic for our survival. However it doesn't give the right to anybody to judge a woman on the basis of her looks, body weight or any other beauty standard set by the society. During the lifetime humans body goes through a lot of changes. And as a mother of 2 saying it from experience after going through pregnancies. Does that give you a right to judge me just because we live in a judgmental society? No. Just because it keeps happening and people keep doing it. Its not okay, its not normal. You need to change your mind set and need to grow up...kiddo.

@Jeseentha Yes they are. Their music has helped me go through a very dark time when I lost my mother to depression.
People laugh at me for following a bunch of effeminate guys who put on make up and are followed by pubescent and pre pubescent girls. But BTS are much more than their pretty faces.
Their music talks about depression, struggles of being judged, and growing up, of being hated etc...to mention a few. People think they are so famous that they had it easy. They didn't. They worked really hard and fought for what they have achieved. They trained for 2 to 3yrs before debuting surviving only on bread and water sometimes, lived in a cramped room in bunk beds all 7 of them.
Kim Namjoon( RM), the leader has an IQ of 148. He falls in the top 1% category of Koreans. But he loved music more. His mother broke his computer and threw his lyrics coz she never wanted him to be a musician. RM is called ugly. J Hope and Jimin are called fat and ugly...so they go into intermittent fasting, sometimes fainting due to extreme hunger and fatigue while going through rigorous training for perfecting their choreography. Suga and Jungkook left their family to pursue music. Mind it Jungkook was only 13 then. They are constantly judged and hated. They were the underdog of K pop. Where the are now..they have earned it all.....
Sorry for the long comment. I just love them for wat they really are and not just for their pretty faces. Although I am too old for it...its undeniable that they are easy on eyes.
P.S. Don't worry about your grammar. I am a grammatically challenged person as well..lol.

Correction to the title" Why people love to comment on people's body shape and size"!
It's not just weight gain that is commented on. Or women who are the victims. Both genders are taunted but women are more affected. Thin girls and boys are always called stick, skeleton, sookha and asked whether they don't get any food at their home. I have been called a skeleton as long as I can remember. My husband is also thin. So now I am asked why I don't cook him anything and he is asked why he is not getting more bulid. My cousin who is dark in complexion is always commented by others to apply this and that to improve her complexion. So body shaming is in the very fabric of this society. It doesn't no matter whether you are a girl or a boy, thick or thin or dark, you will always be scrutinized for something or the other. Develop a don't care attitude and you are golden!

I agree with almost everything you said but while it's true that it's absolutely wrong to associate beauty with thinness, an overweight person is physically and mentally not healthy so that is not altogether incorrect. Yes, many skinny can also be unhealthy. Being thin doesn't automatically make you healthy but being overweight or obese does make everyone extremely unhealthy and susceptible to life threatening diseases.

As told the word patriarchy came for the point that a woman needs to b thin for her man. Like men won't like u if u r fat and men will like u if u r thin. But centuries back women who were fat were taken as absolute beauty coz men find them beautiful. The Beauty comes from the eyes of men. I watched some ancient Chinese dramas where the girls r slim and gorgeous but if u see old pics the girls were actually fat who were considered to be beautiful. With men eyes and marketing policies everything changed fat was beautiful now its ugly. Now coming to junk food and exercise, till the time food was considered to be the likes being fat was status. There r thin ppl who eats yet never gets fat and there r fat ppl like us who blows like balloons by taking a sip of water. Anyways its true that being fat not only it brings fatshaming also there r very few guys who like fat ladies. I got rejected 6 times for being fat by the guys I liked over yrs bt do have an ex who was handsome coz he liked fat girls. BEAUTY AND BODY IS JUST A CONCEPT OF EYES. NOTHING MORE...

    • @khushbooprasad6519
      @khushbooprasad6519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Her part about patriarchy means that in society, people say that a girl needs to be ideal for marriage. Both girls and boys are shamed for being overweight but boys aren't told that no one will marry you if you're fat.
Like, in a lot of places, girls grow up constantly being told that they have to get married and if they don't get married soon, they will be a burden to their parents. Imagine telling someone like this, "tumhara weight zyada hoga to tumse koi shaadi nahi karega".
Her point about patriarchy didn't mean that boys don't suffer from the same problem. But patriarchy poses another different kind of problem to the girls.

@@lawfulhusbands I agree. I don't want to be called a "feminazi" as most would call it but the definition of marriage in our country is pretty bad especially for women.
Women are asked to be virgins, should be educated, should be beautiful(slim, tall, fair), should know all household duties like cooking, cleaning & taking care of kids, should produce a kid if and when asked for and should also do all household duties while being pregnant or nursing the child.
Job kar rahi ho toh salary ka kuch hissa apne parents ko dene ki bajay pura pati aur sasural walo ko do kyunki ab beti parayi ho gayi na.
And if she's a student or a working woman she is asked to stop those things kyunki ab maa ban gayi ho issi ke liye toh shadi ki hai na? Ab bache sambhalo baithke and ghar ka kaam maat bhulo woh bhi karo.
Baccho ki achi parvarish karo tabhi achi bahu banogi...
I mean I don't want to sound bad but ladki ki life iske alwa aur kuch nahi hoti. And this is a common scene in most households doesn't matter how modern they are or how educated they are.
And when we question this the most common answer we get is yahi aurat ki life hoti hai, adjust karna padta hai, sab western influence ki wajah se bigde ho, bahar ki countries mein dekho kitne divorce rates hai humare desh mein toh yeh sab nahi hota.
Yaar divorce ki baat inke kano mein nahi jati na wahi toh problem hai.
Aise dhundne jao toh na jane kitne aise couples milenge jo happily married nahi hai. Divorce chahiye dono pati patni ko par family nahi hone deti...and most cases mein aurat physically aur mentally harrassed feel karti hai kyunki unki needs aur awaz koi sunta hi nahi.

I was always chubby as a kid but that soon transformed into teenage obesity. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, my family, especially the women of my family, were the biggest body shamers I knew. They would just say really cruel things without directing me properly as to how to lose weight or get fitter and stronger. That only made me eat more and use food as a crutch rather than take care of my health.
And now 10 years later, when I have finally lost the weight by changing my relationship with food and developing healthy eating habits, the same people make fun of me for eating healthy, for not validating their unhealthy food choices by not joining them.
I can never forget how torturous my young years were, thanks to my fam, and now when I’m in better shape, all they can say is why don’t you eat something.
    Happened with anyone else?

I believe that, if a doctor or your family or any one close advices you to lose weight RESPECTFULLY and POLITELY, it is for your own good as fat is obviously not good for health but the problem comes with the shaming. People need to stop being disrespectful and judgemental about weight or fat. Some people have a thicker body shape like apple or pear body shapes and getting shamed for that is what gets on my nerves most.

Men and women are both shamed for either being skinny or for having put on weight.
But her point about patriarchy was that if a woman is fat, most of her relatives would turn to her and say something like, you're so fat, you'll never get married.
For men, the family doesn't think weight has anything to do with the desirability for marriage. Not for marriage.
In society, most of the girls grow up hearing 'tumhe to shaadi kar ke sasural jaana hai' and that if she didn't get married at the proper age, she would be a burden to her family. Imagine telling a girl like that 'tumne weight lose nahi kiya to tumse shaadi kon karega?'
Patriarchy plays a role in fat shaming of women on the accounts of desirability for the market of marriage.
