I opted for that exact off road, right that down platform t and options. Love it, my gen3 off road was good, the 24 is better in performance, comfort, and styling. Also tows much better. Long term performance with the 2.4 turbo has yet to be determined.
When you hire folks with minimal pay and CEO's taking a 46% raise, This is shown in the quality of their products. Do research of the issues these trucks are having, they are off the charts. If you have a 3rd gen or older you have a goldmine of the quality toyota used to be.

My brother in law has one. He only got it because it was cheaper than Tacoma. He doesn’t care for it. He wants a Ridgeline next, because he does a lot of driving. He wants that comfort, AWD, and excellent V6. GM is all plastics and awful drivetrain. Ford is just ok.

Ill probably ad an aditonal transmission cooler. Why not. Byt it rides like a dream. Love the suspension suspension and handling. Love the pick up. I added a lot of aftermarket mods and skipped the higher end packages. Cheaper to do your own seat covers and runnning boards and etc etc. And it looks super sharp if you can do a little bit a wrenching yourself and spend a few $1,000. Plus it's toyota. 10 year bumper to bumper anything goes wrong it free to fix or 150,000. Amazing warranty so there no stress with the 4th gen to me. The cons are few. The size of gas tank being one and who wouldn't like to pay less lol. But all in all I love the truck. Looks so sharp with a few mods. Dont regret my 2024 sr5 purchase. Love the truck.
I drove the new ZR2. It’s cheap plastic inside that creaks. The engine is awful feeling. Looks great on the outside, but very poor inside. Just get a full size. GM is like Toyota. They rust and rot fast in 5 years.
I think the ZR2 is the best bang for your buck. fully loaded is still like 10k cheaper than the TRD PRO. you also get more torque than the Nissan pro 4x and front and rear lockers.
I waited about two years to see the next gen. Tacoma TRD Pro. Albeit it looks nice etc. I am not completely sold. Instead, I'm heading towards the highly desired Ranger Raptor. I'm so glad Ford decided to bring that over to the US market.
Many options aren't offered in all areas of the country. For example, Toyota isn't sending Tundras with the rear air suspension to the Pacific Northwest. You might be able to configure a model on Toyota's website, but it might not be available at your local dealers.
I have the 2024 TRD Sport love it. 1k miles no issues. As far as too expensive? I've priced every truck mentioned in these comments, and this truck even fully loaded is no expensive than any of the other trucks mentioned.
Serious question, looking to buy new truck very soon. 24 Toyota Tacoma or 24 Chevy Colorado? Planning to have this vehicle for 10+ years. Nissan Frontier seems like it's tech is outdated.
Was going to buy one of these, until all of the issue started coming about. Now... Transmission failures with either a 4 month wait to fix (automatic) or NO repair fix for the stick-shift.
I like the TRD Pro but the back seat leg room turns me off. If there were some way to get the person in the back more leg room like a after market rear seat replacement that would be great.
This is a question to TFL. Have you guys ever seen a new Tacoma without blank buttons? I am asking because every single video I have seen shows a dashboard with at least a few blank buttons, buttons without function assigned. Here too, the Limited and the TRD Pro at $66k has non functional buttons. What trim, what options and what MSRP gives you a full slate of functional buttons both dashboard and center console? Just curious. Thanks!
I have a 21 Trd OR & like the features of the new gen, but I’m going to wait until 25 or 26 so any bugs are worked out & hopefully interest rates & deals are better.
Do all the Tacomas come with the same sized fuel tank? Because the tundra sport came with a really small fuel tank compared to the off-road mode and that got me 😤.

I’m a Toyota fan but I think that Toyota made a couple of mistakes. They should offer the 6 foot bed throughout the line and I think that all the manufacturers are missing the mark by not adding a large inverter and have the engine kick on when the battery runs low on the hybrid like the Ford F-150 offers. It’s a great feature for people in the trades or someone with a RV trailer.
Love your shoes. I have several pairs of new and almost new boots. I wear the old, broken in ones most often. Why not a rear seat delete for more storage, since there's no knee room anyway.

The right thing to do is buy a slightly used 2023..
Prices are too high on them. They just went up.
The RIGHT thing is a NEW Frontier. It does not have the required fanboy T on the grille. Get over it.
I heard these are having allot of transmission problems right now. I say wait a few years before you buy, let toyota work out the bugs in the new powertrain.
That's probably why tfl sold there's so fast
Okay I would agree with you if Toyota was making junk from day one I would say wait until they fix the bugs but the 2023 Tacoma and under are solid like an ox so your theory doesn't work, we know they could make Quality Transmissions we know they can make Quality Motors and use real metal to make their frames we all know the stuff so there is absolutely no excuse they have been making quality for so long, they have the experience in quality all of a sudden they come up with a new model and it's 100% garbage how can you justify this!!! Is it an accident of course not is there cutting Corners they're cutting costs because they want to make more money and produce a cheaper vehicle so it doesn't matter if you wait a couple of years they're still going to be junk!!!!
Thank you for saying this, I've been saying this exact thing since problems started instead of concluding that the entire generation is junk after 2-3 years with the Tundra and less then a year with the Tacoma
Toyota also needs to lower the prices...'big time', and make that rear back seat area bigger--or not make it in a 'crew cab' version........it's useless the way it is since they've been producing crew cab on the Tacoma. Toyota has their work cut out for them.....Should have kept the V^ and updated the tranny. Fixed the seating better. And 'tweaked' the other issues All at an Affordable price. This crap of setting these high prices and then 'gouging' you for 'add-ons, & packages' is a crock of bs ! Bye - bye

A little bit of tweaks and that would have been the perfect truck but they had to go and ruin it!!! Bye Bye 👋
Hilarious TFL telling us what Tacoma to buy and knowing that they already sold theirs as fast as they could 😂😂😂
They dropped that thing so quick then told everyone it's no big don't worry about the issues
They drop every vehicle they buy after a few months once they make all of the videos they want to make. That’s the business of TH-cam videos.

plenty of vehicles as long term testers and even noted they didn’t want to keep the Tacoma as a long term tester in the sale video they posted… TFL is just fawning for likes from manufactures at this point. The market has changed. The Toyota dealer near me is overstocked and the inventory isn’t moving. Their online prices for Tundras offer a $3500 to $5000 markdown from MSRP, and the Tacoma online prices offer a $2500-$3500 markdown. That’s before you set foot in the showroom and begin negotiating.

Yup, can’t wait for Trumpers.
Nah, Toyota have lost their way and just make some weird ass design decisions and are clearly scalping customers at this point. These 4 cylinder engines are rough….

TFL telling consumers which grossly overpriced Tacoma they should buy the week after they already sold their brand new 2024.. that’s rich.
It’s a shame Toyota doesn’t sell balls or maybe this channel would have some..
It’s so funny. The dealer bought theirs back. In return they can’t say anything bad about the truck.

It’s wierd with these MXN Tacomas with failing transmissions and other issues should not cost this much!
Tacomas have been made in Mexico for a long time. It’s nothing new. American made Toyotas are no better.
Japan made is the one to get. 4Runner.
I do not like that big screen sitting on the dashboard. It looks tacky and cheap. It should’ve been built into the dashboard. I wouldn’t buy the truck.
Are we not going to talk about the transmission problems the new Taco has?
that's not what toyota pays these guys for.
You mean that issue that has affected less than 1% of trucks sold? Yeah, their real concerned.......lol
@Dusdaddy even TFL had an over heading issue with the trans. Donut media had an issue with the trans over heating in their review as well. Plus, on Tacoma world, foum their is an alarming amount of claims. Not hating, just saying 🤷

I really want a base model extended cab with the 6 foot bed. Unfortunately, I live in Canada and we don't have that option available.
This was one of the best videos I’ve watched that clearly shows the different trim levels of a vehicle and I’m all for it! Keep up this kind of content. Helps buyers choose which model they want before a test drive
How about the notable features like imploding transmissions, exploding shock towers, lack of bump stops, and snapping differentials? Minor stuff. 😅
I have been driving nothing but Toyotas for 30 years but I would not get any of their new line up even if their ridiculous price tag was 15k or 20k less, which should be for most the trims! The new Tundra and Tacomas are a fail! Of course now they managed to ruin the 4Runner as well! The only truck to get right now would be the naturally aspirated 4Runner before the joke they replaced it with comes up!
Toyota often has issues with most of their new generations for decades for first year. It’s nothing new.
The new Supra they had was their most perfect Toyota ever sold. BMW built it with perfection.
@@ryanb8736the new tundra has gotten worse in the three years its been out
I’ve owned Tacoma for the past 15 years. I’m sad to say that I’m no longer buying the Tacoma and now going to buy the new frontier.
Okay so first Savagegeese channel and now TFL on defending the 4th Gen taco. How much did Toyota paid these guys for free marketing? I have a 1st Gen and 3rd Gen Tacoma and I bought Toyotas all my life, but the 4th Gen is a failure just like the recalled new tundra with severe crankshaft bearing issue. Buy a frontier or a titan. Or import a jdm diesel hilux. I'm not touching any Toyota product for another 5 -10 yrs to see if they can smooth out their issues.
I opted for that exact off road, right that down platform t and options. Love it, my gen3 off road was good, the 24 is better in performance, comfort, and styling. Also tows much better. Long term performance with the 2.4 turbo has yet to be determined.
I’ll take the one without a turbo
When you hire folks with minimal pay and CEO's taking a 46% raise, This is shown in the quality of their products. Do research of the issues these trucks are having, they are off the charts. If you have a 3rd gen or older you have a goldmine of the quality toyota used to be.
Minimal pay? They all got raises. Thats why the prices went up. Toyota is financially hurting. All their parts suppliers doubled their prices, because of pay increase and overhead.
If Toyota cared, they would have used better rust prevention materials like other companies do.
I traded in my 2018 wrangler sport s 2dr today with 103,000 miles for a 2024 Tacoma trd off road! I was super impressed with all the bells and whistles and the stock KO2 tires. While I’ll miss my jeep this vehicle is definitely 👍 cool and not a second place car. I love it. Can’t wait to run burns canyon in it!
Over 63k for a TRD pro with no options when MSRP on a ranger raptor with delivery is 57,300. No deal as the raptor has more equipment and can curb stomp the tacoma.
Which option do you want? The front diff that fails? The over hearing transmission? Or the manual that goes out? How about we slide that tailgate farther over one side for you?
Give this 2 minutes before people start complaining about these trucks.....
Well that only lasted .02 seconds. 😂
People can’t afford to finance them rising interest rates so they have to come up with reasons to justify not owning one
Weird you didn't mention the failing transmissions on these. Is that why you sold yours so fast? I saw on one video it was overheating for no reason.
I just pick up a used 2024 with 500 miles for 39.500 4x4 red color load.

The 4.0 V6 was the proper engine for an intermediate truck. It's sad that the 2016 3rd Gen introduced more than a few quality issue.
Off topic, narcissist.
I'll brag about my 2019 Tundra V8 Limited with 38,000 miles too and for across Country trips I use my 2012 CR-V with 90,000 miles on it and I'll NEVER buy a newer Tundra. As a matter of fact my Tundra will sell for more than I paid for it after all the extra fees and taxes.

Frontier Pro4x is the best out there right now. If you don't like that then there is always the Colorado/Ranger for the screen junkies.

Personally I absolutely love the truck. The 4 cylinder turbo is fun to drive low end. Tows what i need.
Best advice: Dont buy the new Tacoma until they sort out transmission issues and specially build quality / fit and finish issues.
Go online and buy your taco through e-mail. There’s a dealer out there somewhere that wouldn’t mind selling one for a fair price.
Please put your hand in the retractable step space and close the door. Will it sense that and retract like a garage door opener?
you get a more reliable MIDSIZE for cheaper with a … CHEVY 😢
I drove the new ZR2. It’s cheap plastic inside that creaks. The engine is awful feeling. Looks great on the outside, but very poor inside.
Just get a full size.
GM is like Toyota. They rust and rot fast in 5 years.
I think the ZR2 is the best bang for your buck. fully loaded is still like 10k cheaper than the TRD PRO. you also get more torque than the Nissan pro 4x and front and rear lockers.
I really like my new Frontier.
Sorry you had to settle
I waited about two years to see the next gen. Tacoma TRD Pro. Albeit it looks nice etc. I am not completely sold. Instead, I'm heading towards the highly desired Ranger Raptor. I'm so glad Ford decided to bring that over to the US market.
Before you buy a new Tacoma, watch the TFL video when they took it on snow.
Then sold it 😂
This was a really nice summary. Right to the point and very concise.
I have a 23 Trail Boss as loaded as you can get and love it. Got it on a steal for under 40k.
Tacoma. Colorado will always be junk and the Frontier has an interior from 2010
The so called tech is what is making them less reliable, so you decide if a fancy sound system is worth your vehicle always being in the shop
Frontier is where it's at right now.
Lol, nobody is flocking to a Nissan.
💩🧻
Thanks!
Those pop out so you can add your own. Aux lighting, winch, etc.
Great job on the video Kase!
Glad to see you on the truck channel a lot more often now days.
Looking forward to the Ranger Raptor vs TRD pro videos.
I have a 21 Trd OR & like the features of the new gen, but I’m going to wait until 25 or 26 so any bugs are worked out & hopefully interest rates & deals are better.
i think by 2026, the v6 will return, in front of the 8 speed, with a transmission cooler. the choking administration of d.c. will be gone by then.
@@billw8476the V6 is never coming back. The 3.5 was reliable but awful to drive

Do all the Tacomas come with the same sized fuel tank? Because the tundra sport came with a really small fuel tank compared to the off-road mode and that got me 😤.
Nope, they went down to a 18 gal tank

@@jimmy-buffett there’s a website scraper that allows you to search Toyota inventory in the entire country. I just checked it and there are 18 Xtracabs currently. That includes Prerunners. Why are they even bothering to pretend they want to sell them?
They need to make the full-time system optional in the Sport. That's a great system for winter driving since their part-time system does not have 4wd Auto.
I am sorry, I have to say you are WRONG. You kept saying. “You can Spec….” Toyota NO LONGER lets you choose, order or spec ANY option. There was a time but that is long gone. You get to choose what ever Toyota decides to give a particular dealer. That’s it! So as a buyer, you will have to go to many dealers and choose a vehicle that BEST meets your requirements. But you will NOT get everything you want. And 65k for a TRD Pro Taco is insane! Who the hell wants those bicycle shocks on your seat anyway! Toyota has LOST THEIR MIND!
Trying to add a trailer brake controller to my TRD off road. Either add the factory controller with whatever parts are required from Toyota or add aftermarket controller . The problem is so far nobody can tell me where the plug for the aftermarket controller harness is. I know I can splice / cut it in. I've talked with a few dealership and also Toyota Canada and nobody has a answer!!! The truck has everything there , wiring, fuses and relays the 4 &7 way in rear bumper . I'm sure the plug for an aftermarket harness is hiding somewhere !!!. Being TFL Truck I know you guys can get answers a little better then the average guy. I can't see Toyota making a truck with no plug and play for a brake controller ever other model has had it up to this point. Any chance of a little TFL Truck magic for a answer ??? Thanks very much if you are able to help greatly appreciated ..... PS if you read on some of the tacoma forums so far this looks like a potential issue

What's the difference in cost if you spec'd a decently equipped limited, vs the level below it with the same exact options?
I’m a Toyota fan but I think that Toyota made a couple of mistakes. They should offer the 6 foot bed throughout the line and I think that all the manufacturers are missing the mark by not adding a large inverter and have the engine kick on when the battery runs low on the hybrid like the Ford F-150 offers. It’s a great feature for people in the trades or someone with a RV trailer.
I love this channel
But this truck is an absolute faliure

Does the hole interior wiggles if you move it a bit? I saw all the 2024 did on tacomas
Love your shoes. I have several pairs of new and almost new boots. I wear the old, broken in ones most often.
Why not a rear seat delete for more storage, since there's no knee room anyway.
I really wanted one until I found out about the powertrain. Until they throw in a V6 twin-turbo with 400+ horsepower, there won't be one in my driveway. That's why I'm eyeballing the ranger raptor right now.
