try itttt! when i first tried savory porridge my mind was expecting a milky flavor which made the first taste weird at first but it's actually a yum! i first tried it with whole oats + water + salt and pepper + soy sauce + mushroom + tomato. or some ham or cornedbeef (I'm flexitarian.)

My trick for the crispy cornflakes is to put half a portion, when you eat it doesn’t get that soggy, and then pour some more. I usually eat two big bowls (athlete 😂) and cornflakes is always crispy. Ut will probably work for other cereals too.

WOW, fantastic! I tried the savoury porridge for breakfast, so yummy! I never would have thought you could make porridge savoury. I feel so energized after eating that recipe. I have been trying to figure out a simple, affordable and nutritious breakfast, and this is it! Tofu can be quite pricey if you eat it everyday for breakfast, and oats are so healthy. A great replacement for eggs, it tastes like a cajun scramble, or an exquisite Indian dish. Thanks so much for this recipe! - A Vegan fan from Canada 😀

Growing up in the US, we always called porridge 'oatmeal.' We ate it really often for breakfast. My mom always put brown sugar, butter, and chocolate chips in it, and made it with milk instead of water. It made it more of a dessert than breakfast. Lol I always remember being really confused hearing about Goldylocks and the Three Bears growing up, because I always wondered what porridge was, and wanting to try it. Now I know it's just a fancy word for hot oatmeal. Lol

    • @MadeleineOlivia

I ALWAYS eat porridge in the morning :) I don't have much time in the morning, so I prep it in the evening along with my lunch, fill it in a jar and take it with me - still delicous! I always make it with oatmilk, so it tastes naturally sweet, I love it that way. And my favourite topping is a compote made of cooked prunes/plums (I call it Zwetschge in Germany, I don't know what it's called exactly in English) along with ground flaxseed, walnuts and aometimes soy joghurt ;)

I like to use banana milk as my milk for porridge. Just blend bananas with water. Super healthy. Must try the savoury, very interesting. Loved the video.

holy molely that savoury porridge is delicious! I just made it with spelt and it worked really well- little addition: if you add a blob of barbecue sauce it adds a lovely smokiness! :) love all your recipes - thank you!!!

I've never liked porridge but I'm definitely going to be trying the savory oats. Maybe I just don't like sweet porridge, fingers crossed :)

They all look amazing! Even though I had the same thoughts on savoury oats as well. Can’t wait to try the baked oats, perfect for meal prep and taking to work with me! ❤️

The savoury porridge looks so appetizing! I'll definitely be trying that! :) I've been enjoying breaking those sweet/savoury associations I have with neutral foods lately, so it's perfect timing too!

I was watching this video while actually eating my own oatmeal recipe (just oatmeal with water and some fresh fruit) and my heart died a little for your orange chocolate recipe. Totally try eat, tomorrow haha. I just discovered your channel and I am glad to say I subscribed. Keep going, you doing great :)

This chocolate-orange porridge looks really yummy. I like to mix few types of oats - barley flakes, regular oats, rice flakes and millet flakes. I'm not a big fan of runny porridge.

Love all the ideas except for the savoury porridge (I have an awful memory of savoury porridges in Scotland when I visited the country for the first time). I'll be cooking the chocolate one and the banana-bread porridge next weekend I guess! Thank you for all your amazing recipes Maddie!!
