  • Second of 3 parts from my John Ramsay 8mm movie collection of Glasgow trams in their final 6 weeks of operation in 1962, following Route 9 from Auchenshuggle in the city's east, to Dalmuir in the west, via Dumbarton Road.
This section starts at the Heilandman's Umbrella in Argyle Street near Central Station, and passes Anderston, Kelvingrove Art Galleries & Kelvin Hall, Partick Cross, Thornwood, Whiteinch, Scotstoun, Yoker, then out beyond the city boundary into Clydebank through the afternoon rush hour at John Brown's Engineering Workspace, before finishing at the Forth & Clyde Canal bridge, just before Dalmuir.

So interesting to see where I live now, back then. Seems to be so much busier because of all the industry.

Wonderful set of videos Douglas, thank you for sharing! Did trams and trolleybuses use the same overhead wires at all or were the routes totally separate?
