I had the xm4 earbuds twice. First time I bought them first thing I did was put both in and make a call. Right away I heard a metallic pinging sound like something was loose in the buds. Took them back 2 days later. After 2 months i purchased again after watching a review saying an update fixed a whooshing sound. Didn't fix the sound I could hear the first time. After having them for close to a month more people kept telling me they couldn't hear me and had call drop outs. Yes they had good anc, good battery life and awesome case but I was so excited to return them and go back to all my other buds.

So basically both XM4 and motif have the same sound signature except for that bump in the 1-2khz range. I can see I already like motif because I love this "flat" or "neutral" sound signature. I don't like bass heavy or treble heavy. I love this neutral line where you can hear the artists intent of the sound instead of it all being muddied by either overemphasized highs lows or even mids.

Got my own MOTIFs for about 140$ and for that price they're awesome. Maybe transparency mode could be a little better but everything else rocks. As Marshall fan I'm 100% pleased with them, and happy I wasn't greedier and went for MINORs. Huge love and as always excellent review

So I've been using the Marshall earbuds for about a month now. And I'm currently on my third pair. I've had two other pairs that have had technical issues. And I love the fit and I love the sound, but one thing that bugs me which is a minor issue is the fact that when the charging case has no more charge left in it the earbuds do not turn off. Even if you put them in your case they do not turn off. They only turn off if they're still juice left in the case. If there's no juice they will not turn off and therefore will run themselves until they die. I've had lots of other Samsung earbuds in the past and whether the case has juice in it or not as soon as I put them in the case they shut off which is what I expect out of a high priced earphone. So keep in mind your case must always have juice in it if you want your earbuds to turn off. Let's just say if your earbuds are at 50% juice and your case has enough to add an extra 25% to the earbuds battery, as soon as the juice is out and your earphones are at 75%, they will remain on until they die. That is been the case for all three of the earbuds I have so I don't think it's a technical issue I think it's just a design flaw. This flaw can get annoying if I put my earbuds in their case and I go to listen to something on my phone through my phone speaker I won't be hearing it through my phone speaker. I either have to go to my settings and switch it to my phone speaker, or turn off the Bluetooth, or go rush to a charging port to put the earbuds on a charge so that they will turn off.
The other thing I've noticed is the app rarely works for my phone. I have the Galaxy Note 10 Plus. And if the app doesn't work then that means I can't change certain settings within the earbuds because it just refuses to connect. But maybe that's just a personal issue I have.
Personally I don't really notice a difference when I switch modes from A and c to transparency. There's a tiny difference, but nothing that's been wow worthy. Such as my Galaxy earbuds do a great job at letting in outside noise when I switch the modes. And I was hoping that would be the case here where I could switch it to the outside noise and it would use the speakers to amplify my surroundings.
Another thing I've noticed with all three different pairs that I've used, when I met the gym, occasionally one of my earbuds will disconnect. It's as if they died or something. And I tap the play and pause button nothing happens the only way to get it turned back on is to put it back in the case and then pull it back out. Which means when I'm at the gym I always have to carry my case around in the event that that earbud decides to go out. It's not a deal breaker but it is an annoyance. Because all other earbuds that I've had from Samsung have never had that issue and they were all cheaper than these pairs.
Anyways so that is what I have found with these earbuds. I still like the noise and I still use them versus my other earbuds because they do stay in my ears the most. Especially when I eat food. That was my main issue with other earbuds. Is as I move my mouth smile or chew food, they would be quick to fall out of my ear. Where is these ones stay in my ear pretty well. Which is what I was mostly going for.
Awesome review man, having recently lost my galaxy buds+ I was thinking I might give these a go, but your review was very insightful. Definitely some serious flaws that may prove deal breaking. Loved the Marshall systems I've tried in the past, but I may have to skip them for the time being if this is the case. Big ups my man, thanks for saving me some trouble!

Sir please help me with few issues I m facing since few days after I got the motif anc .
First is I m unable to connect with the Marshall iOS App , it keeps showing searching for device only . I have tried all the tips and tricks still not working .
Secondly only one ear buds works at a time when I putting them to use . If the right one works then the left one doesn’t work and if the left works then the right doesn’t work . I have tried resetting and factory reset and all other ways still same issues . It would be thankful if you can kindly help me to solve this issue .

the main problem with the SONY XM4 is that after a year and a half, the battery lasts 30 minutes and you end up with an earplug of almost 300 euros. This time I'm going Marshall, great review!
The battery drain issues probably caused by the firmware 1.4.2 update. Mine also one and a half year, and the battery lasts around 50mins. I sent it to Sony and they replaced a new pair of ear buds for me FOC even it was already out of warranty. It works like a charm now
That’s why I always buy extended warranty At Best Buy and trade in my ear buds no questions asked every year and half or so. Just tell them they buzz with anc on. I’m on my 5 pair of earbuds and I only pay for a new warranty every time I turn them in.

depends on the bitrate of the file, for 192kbps, SBC will be enough, anything more, AAC or better

Unfortunately for me the Sony XM4's ANC is just not that great, pair that with an absolutely awful quality case made it an easy switch to the Marshall..
Although that said I feel the Sony's had a slight edge in terms of actual sound quality.

After having used so many earbuds, I finally found the perfect fit and comfort for my ears. It is very light and sits flush on the ears.
After using the Sony XM3 buds for about 2 years, I really struggled to fit them in my ears. They sound amazing and have better anc than the Marshall but I can sacrifice that for more comfort.
The xm3 are double the weight of the motif and the way it's shaped, it sticks out of your ears and is really difficult to stay in your ears for more than 15 mins, and gets really uncomfortable.
I have the wF-1000XM3 and wh-1000xm3 I mainly use the wh's but sometimes its too big to carry around so I can notice the sound quality so I taught of this model but if it is not better than xm3s I don't want to buy it because I don't think the xm3s have good quality either do you recommend any other model maybe senheisser something model 2 or Google buds or anything else?

I have second generation Airpods Pro, I also have Google Pixel Buds Pro and today the Marshall Motif arrived. The Marshalls are truly disappointing. The sound is very mediocre, the battery is a joke and the materials are cheap plastic. A real disappointment
