For me its "Excited" preset, 16k +10, Clear Bass +10, now the crispness and bass is just phenomenal. I will never understand why someone would make these headphones sound like a tin can by choosing something like "Mellow" or "Relax", better buy a cheap pair of headphones then.

Agreed. Shame the 1000 xm2 doesn't have multipoint for me to use while adjusting connected to multiple sources. Apps on phone.
Sound sharper and punchier though, clearer without noise canceling. Thanks Aaron!
Also I'm finding dsee useless for techno on TH-cam. Maybe you can cover it.

Thanks for making this so simple! I had, for the longest time, settled for Bright, but being more informed, I've taken your settings and modified them for day and night, especially when I'm listening to genres like punk and indie rock, it just feels fuller. And at night, I can mellow the vocals whilst feeling the range of vocals still. I didn't realise it would be so simple.

    -400: 0
    - 1K: 0
    -2.5K: +2
    -6.3K: +5
    -16K: +8
    -Clear Bass: +1
It lifts the mid & highs/voices while keeping the power of the drums and bass.
ANC "off" and DSEE Extreme "on" makes also a little positive difference. Same results in AAC, SBC and LDAC (not talking about Res quality here). This setting on my laptop is actually slightly more bassy than on my Galaxy S10 for the same TH-cam video, so it seems it also depends on the DAC/output of your "player".

I really wish the eq had more than 5 bands. While it may be less complicated and intimidating to only have 5 bands, it makes it much more difficult to really fine-tune the sound profile of the headphones. Do you ever use 3rd party eq apps that allow for more customization, or do you find that the 5 band eq is enough?

Is there a way to NOT have it play a chime/ding sound EVERY time you change the volume, advance the track, pause the music, resume the music, et cetera? I’ve used the Bose QC 35 for years, and thought I’d switch, but I feel like these audio interruptions really start to get irritating. I toggled off the ‘voice prompts’ in the Sony app, but the dings and chimes still persist. (Using an iPhone 7) Has anyone found a way to disable these? Thanks!

Unfortunately you can't turn off the dings for volume changing, track skip, and pause/play, but for everything else they can be disabled by toggling the "Voice Notifications" option in the app.

I was soooo close to buying the XM4s last weekend but when I listened to them at the store and compared them to the beats solo 3 I was pretty disappointed in the bass. The XM4s sounded flat and without bass whilst I thought the beats were really nice.
However I really liked the tech of Sony and this is Where the beats fail and I didn’t end up buying anything.
What are your thoughts on the bass quality of the XM4s compared to other noise-cancelling headphones? I just can’t forget how disappointed I was listening to them at the store with their preset songs.
Now I know there’s possibility of adding bass to the XM4s I’m close to being back on the bandwagon but I would like other’s opinions on whether there is enough bass in them for bass enthusiasts like me. I like RnB + rock music and want to feel that thump.

You probably listened to the Sonys with a neutral or flat eq so it's why you thought that it sounded flat. What's good about these is that you can easily customise the eq to your discretion so I highly recommend reconsidering them. 😊

Beats have arguably the worst out-of-the-box sound preset of any headphones on the market currently. Bass is so overrepresented. XM4s also have a ridiculously high bass profile. Listening preferences may be subjective but yours are objectively trash lmfao.

I just wanted to ask if i can use cleaners like "whoosh - screen cleaning liquid" to gently clean the earpads? It contains no alcohol and is ammonia free as well. Would be great to hear your opinion on this. Also, in places for e.g. in US and Canada, i believe original earpad replacement can be purchased from OEM ( the partners are listed on sony website). I checked in with the customer support team at Sony and they said these are original earpad replacements. Thank you!!

First I don't know if that's right and second it's difficult to charge it to 80 over night - so actually I hope 100% isn't much of a problem ;) - fun fact: I had to return my first xm4 because after ~30 I noticed that they didn't charge no matter how i tried (laptop, pc, mobile charger, power bank) - got an instant exchange at the store

    • @ohbear64

From what I understand, wired will always have better quality than wireless. If it's any consolation I've done sound comparisons plugged in and over Bluetooth and I don't even know if I can tell the difference even when focusing hard. Bluetooth tech has come a long way and the quality is pretty comparable now.
I don't know if noise cancelling actually increases sound quality, but it makes it sound significantly better because you are totally immersed in the song and don't have outside noises impeding on your music

    • @cw7886
      @cw7886 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Quality stays the "same". Unlike with the Bose QC35 the XM4 doesn't act very differently. There's then no loss due to bluetooth. I plugged them into my DAC and to my opinion it delivered the best from all setups (because the DAC in the phone or XM4 seems a bit inferior).
