Completely agree. And to put it bluntly for all those that don't get it - stay away from broke people! Don't wheel and deal wit em, just send em on their merry way.

@@steve8803its not glorified it’s honest work and I don’t know what your experience is detailing but any one who has been a detailer knows that the money really does match the effort - putting in hours cleaning dog hair , shampooing tough stains, polishing paint… it’s a profession. Mopping floors and cleaning counter tops as a custodian is not professional because anyone can do it and no research or skill required.

If the customer gets the price up front, there is no such as “ charging too much.” As a plumber I’ve charged $350-$400 to install a garbage disposal, customer provided the new one. So when it takes me 30 mins to swap it out, oh well.
The customer isn’t just paying for your time, they are paying for your time served in the business of detailing.

    Oscar,
    Great content.
People in Tucson Az don't get .Size, condition & what they want. You can break down how & what you will do & hour wise
& they still don't get it. Those are the customers I avoid.
They have the $ they just don't like to pay. Keep speaking it Brotha.

Great content. Explained simply. Can you make a video on how to do paint correction, swirl mark removal.
Or explaining the “step process” you mentioned.
    Thank you

I'm an amateur detailer myself. I have the products and a carpet extractor vacuum. I've often wondered about bringing my MK3 Supra into one, but I've always wondered if it would even matter.
The interior is extremely well preserved and clean. The paint looks nice, but could use a lot of love, maybe a sealant by a pro could be in order (parked on the street)
All-in-all maybe it's just car body thing to me since I keep my cars so clean inside. I've taken it to a paint correction shop before and they stated there was not much they could really do.

Thanks for the video Oscar. A question for you, once you start getting enough business/clients to justify having a shop, what is the smallest size shop you would recommend?

On my site, I already have it worked out for an “average vehicle” for time X cost to put a general price. Saves me a lot of headache. Most people are fine paying that price and only cleaner cars get marked down and customers don’t ask for less.

I'm in the beginning stages of my detailing business, should I have the clients send me an interior/exterior pic of the vehicle that way I can gauge the prices accordingly?? Your videos have been super helpful

Hi Oscar, first of all thank you for all the time you spent making us better detailers. I have a ❓ I did an SUV today that it was extremely dirty. The car has embedded dirt on the carpet that it was possible to clean it with just vacuuming. My package includes vacuuming the car but not scrubbing, but is I didn't scrubbed the carpet would look terrible. What do I do in a case like this? Do I charge more? Do I tell the client right away? Thank you.

I would speak with the customer before you start any work on the vehicle. Let them know a vacuum cleaner wouldn’t cut it, tell them what would, and the rough estimated time to get the job done. Then based on your hourly rate, quote the price.

I’m kind of newer to detailing, started just over a year ago (my prices are super cheap) and recently I did a middle of the range detail on this dyed old chevy equinox and he wasn’t very happy, I missed one spot in tje trunk that I could only really see on camera and he wasn’t too happy, he was expecting it to be perfect when it was one of the messiest cars i have honestly ever seen and only charged the dude $75, waxing and all. Not to toot my own horn but the car looked almost like new. I’ve now learned to ignore those types of cheap ass people.

Link for the books! I’m in there like booty hair - feel like I’m paying my book keeper WAY too much for what they do. I’d rather support my favorite detailer/TH-camr and learn myself!

Oscar you are leaving to much meat on the bone with your cheap prices. There are TH-camr’s charging $3,000-$10,000 for a full detail.

I don't care what some idiot on social media says about my prices. If you want to work for less, have at it!!! And if you don't want to pay my prices, go somewhere else. I'd rather work on 10 cars for $300 each than 20 cars for $150.00 each.
