Pretty straight forward and one step closer.

I Admire the hard work you guys are putting into the Family wagon. She'll be a Beast with the Engine in her. Great Work

I've not had any issues with my slip yoke, but I'm only pushing 275/285 hp/tq and am not lifted (yet), nor do I wheel as much. My slip is also the kind that is the external spline version, so if I lose the rear shaft, I can still run FWD like a fixed yoke case, so I chose to KISS. I've read others thrashing their lifted Jeeps (Xjs/ZJs) with them with no issues, but angles are important. FWIW, the FSJs and 1st gen Grand Cherks that these 242s came in weigh within a couple hundred pounds of each other ;) Compared to a modern SUV, our rigs are light. I do know that for a T case with so many selections for drive modes, they are simple to rebuild. With the exception of those needle bearings. Vasoline or grease is definitely the trick. All this will pay off soon! Sold my daily driver, so my Wag is filling in till I find my next ride. Love getting the same economy as a daily.

Yeah I read lots of folks with xj’s etc that run the cheaper hack n tap with no issues. But with the power/weight combo I figured I’d play it safe. Daily driving a GW is a dream to many people, we could be doing worse 😂

You guys are doing great, every video i watch it gives me more and more ideas on my wagoneer build. let me know if the original grill on the wall is something you might let go.

Thanks for watching and glad we can be some inspiration. Lots of folks ask us about the grill and it’s sorta sentimental being that it’s termites. Might sound weird but it’d be hard for me to let it go. Plus I toy around with the idea of swapping back to it sometimes 😆

Did the NP242J bolt right on the 545RFE factory 4x4 adapter? I assume that it did and that the transmission is sealed and the NP242J has its own input seal so they do not share fluid between the trans and t-case like some of the older ones did.

Yes It bolted right up and is clocked good to. And it does have a seal that separates the two.

What transmission are mating the transfer case to? And did it require any adapters?

545rfe, no adapters, they bolt right up!
