That's what was stock (3116 and later the 3126) in these. I mean it could be they put a bigger CAT in it but it sounds like the 3126 to me, maybe a 3116
The Cat 3116 was the most popular engine to make it into the GMC Topkick of these years. Quite typical medium duty truck diesel. A bit smaller than its competitors, like the International DT466, and Cummins 6CT, which displaced 505 cubic inches. Which is 8.3L The International was 7.6L. The Cat 3116 was 7.0L.

These came with 3116s cat stock this one has a frame mod to allow a pickup bed on back this is orig a cab chassis
