This one malfunctioned with Gen 4 and 5 Glock magazines but not the provided pmags. There are several other people in the comments having the same issue.
Ruger recommends cleaning/oiling the gun when you get it. The grease/oil that they put on the gun when it leaves the factory is optimized to let it sit in transit/on a shelf.
The majority of guns are fired at the factory with the grease/oil and in most cases there is very little of it on the gun. If the gun can't function properly with that oil/grease how is it going to run when it is in an adverse condition?

I always laugh when people say, "just buy a Glock." Sorry, they are a terrible shooting experience. Hate the trigger, hate the ergos, hate the lack of grip texture. The saddest part of this for me is that Ruger just did what Glock should have done for the military pistol trials. Glock should be the leader of the pack for innovating Glock style pistols. Instead, other companies are doing it. My Bul Armory Axe Hatchet is far superior to any Glock I have ever held and it is basically an improved gen 3 Glock. I love the Glock reliability, but I can now get that from companies that do it better than Glock.
@@averagemarksmantime will tell if the Ruger is merely a cheap clone or what Glock should have done for the military pistol trial. Given a year or so, it may prove to be far more than just a cheap clone. To me, Glock is far more expensive than it should be. SAME ISSUE, but mine is less severe. When I use a 17 rnd Glock mag in mine, when resting the gun on the bench on the magazine, like when adjusting a red dot, the magazine shifts in a way that allows the magazine body to press the slide stop causing the slide to lock open after every shot. Not happy.

I also shot some 17 round pmags. no problem with any. going to range again in couple days. found it just as accurate as my G17
Next time at the range shoot while resting the gun on the 17 round mag. That's how I adjust my red dot. The 17 rnd mag will lock the slide open after every shot if the mag is being pressed into the gun.
Not cleaning and getting proper oil on it will cause failure in a tight new gun. That slide racking technique wasn't helping. You got to pull that slide and slingshot it while it's breaking in or they can hang up. @@averagemarksman I know what day it is. Thanks. I checked my owner's manual from a Ruger firearm I bought a few years ago. It states clearly to check, inspect and clean/Lube the gun before initial use. It is also recommended by the Gunsmithing Journal.
