    I tried to duplicate this issue many times with my RXM. I think it may just be your RXM. I’ve also had issues with Glocks initially from the factory. Every manufacturer will have some level of defects.
    I would give ruger the opportunity to fix it.

      Doubtful. The others are just hiding it. Just like how most reviewers said nothing about the Bodyguard 2.0 shooting left (because they couldn’t be bothered with making sure the sights were aligned before sending them off the line) and not liking flat faced ammo.

    Ruger’s website mentions this:
    “Most major components are designed for Gen 3 compatibility with off-the-shelf parts, holsters, and accessories for nearly
    unlimited customization.”
    So wouldn’t that mean that it shouldn’t take gen 4 and 5 Glock mags? This might be why you are having some issues.

    • @averagemarksman
      @averagemarksman  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The magazines it ships with were designed for Gen 5 Glocks. The first Glock 9mm Pmag wasn’t released until the Gen 4 was out.

    I noticed you pull the slide back with just your thumb and index finger. Try wrapping your palm over the top of the slide for a better stronger grip then pull back. Even if that doesn't fix the problem racking the slide with only two fingers is a bad habit anyways!

    • @averagemarksman
      @averagemarksman  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That isn’t the issue and it isn’t a bad habit. It doesn’t matter how hard you pull the slide back if the slide stop doesn’t drop. As the moment the slide moves backwards the slide stop should drop and allow the slide to move forward.

I have removed the slide and inserted both the Pmag and OEM mags and the actual Glock mag pushes the slide stop lever more positively. I also tried an ETS mag and its similar. So I’m not having your issue. But I’m having another concerning issue. After watching your video i went and looked at my rxm. I used the supplied magpul magazine with two different hp rounds. Mine at hand were federal and Remington hp. Both jammed up on the feed ramp of the rxm. So i went a grabbed a g17 mag i had and they both fed fine. On closer inspection the magpul magazine has the rounds pointed right at the feed ramp and the Glock magazine had them tilted higher pointed at the chamber . I’m guessing most folks aren’t doing much testing with hp ammo but this is a huge problem unless you just want a fmj range gun. I know money is always an issue but i would love to see if your rxm is having the same issues as mine and if it does magpul needs to stand up and fix it.

    It has nothing to do with getting hot or anything like that.

    • @averagemarksman
      @averagemarksman  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes. 27 years ago Glock produced an item with this problem. That's why they are on Gen 5. If you're going to knock something off you should easily be able to address the known issue that the platform has. The slide stop is easily improved with the FCI and they didn't do it.

    The slide stop isnt loose. The mag is pinching the slide stop against the frame because Glock mags are fatter than pmags. Also since you are left handed you bias the mag toward the slide release causing the pinch. If you hold it with your right hand you will see the issue go away. Doesn't mean its acceptable but that is what is happening.

      I tested it with my left and right hand. The magazines all (three different manufactures) have plenty of play in the grip. The issue is the same. I even pulled out the calipers and the Glock magazines are not fatter than the Pmags. The slide stop being able to move all over the place is the issue. It gets stuck on the frame of the FCI. I think the issue is that the mag its self (not follower, and only with Glock OEM mags) is also able to push up the slide catch just enough that sometimes it blocks the slide when a loaded glock oem mag is loaded which would probably mean the slide catch has bad geometry OR when designing the gun the mags are inserted just too high for glock oem mags but I suppose the magpul pmags dont stick as high so they run fine

    Yup same problem here when I put pressure on the bottom of a Glock mag using snap caps. Haven't shot it yet to see if it will do it with no pressure under live fire. There's definitely some geometry differences around the slide lock interface between Magpul and Glock mags that are clearly the cause. I guess the geometry of the slide release is slightly different because of the removable FCU. The range sample I tried didn't have this problem for the 30ish rounds I tried with Glock mags.

    • @rushthezeppelin
      @rushthezeppelin 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Also in theory there are reasons to buy this over a Glock. My main reason is I can't stand the Glock grip angle but also I'm hoping they will make Flux Raider chassis for it. A lot of people got it so they could switch between 17, 19 and 26 setups and only go through one background check and in some states a wait. Even worse some states only allow three serials attached to your CCW so this is a way around that. There's also bonus reasons like a much better optics mounting system, suppressor height steel sights out of the box and a much better grip texture. Not everyone wants it purely for Gucci Glock reasons.

    @bmglover83 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I'm not sure how you can complain about the function of a slide stop when you don't use the actual slide stop! Maybe it has something to do with the way you're "slingshot" racking the slide??? Seems like if you actually pressed down on the slide stop it would negate whatever internal movement you discovered. Idk, mine is in the mail. Guess I'll find out soon.

    • @averagemarksman
      @averagemarksman  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@bmglover83 because the slide stop should drop as soon as the slide is pulled to the rear. If the slide stop doesn’t drop the slide can’t move forward.

    It is very possible that this is a flaw with the design or part quality. Time will obviously tell with the weapon. Time tends to reveal all truth. That said, for those that buy brand new Glocks and then replace the sights, get a new trigger, do something to enhance the grip: messing with or replacing the slide catch is far from ideal but it is cheaper than all of the other mods that people do to Glocks. If someone loves Glocks as they are, great for you. However, Glock has the biggest aftermarket for a reason. It is almost assumed people are modding factory Glocks at this point. I don't think the RXM slide catch issue is good and they need to address it if the problem is widespread. I haven't seen that come up much, but the pistol is so new that it is way too early for people to have exposed all the potential problems. I am also a fan of not being an early adopter. I like to wait a year or so and let some things shake out.
    I appreciate guys like you who are making the purchases and putting the guns through the paces to see what is what. I am interested to see how this plays out. Keep up the good work.

    Another great video, I went and handled one at my LGS last week when they came out. I did like the slide with direct mount and all and the concept of the removable trigger assembly like Sig and Springfield Echelon, but it was not something I "had to have" as an alternative to a Glock, which I own none currently as I find other firearms suit me better. And why would a main manufacturer like Ruger want to come out and make a "clone" of another main manufacturer's firearm. Come on Ruger be original and if you want to team up with Magpul, cool but at least make something of your own and not a clone gun, even at the lower price point than a lot of other Glock clones like Shadow Systems.
